Be warned, they barely have anything priced. That being said, I found a few I wanted. Took them to the counter. I asked for the prices on the books I had on the counter. He proceeds to "look them up" on a monitor. Proceeds to give me a very high price. I counter offer $10 less. They wouldn't take it. I turned it down. Then the young man took the book and said, that belongs on the wall. So, I worked for them in finding that wall book. I dug thru a dozen long boxes, found a nice book, made them a reasonable counter offer and then they put it on the wall to try to make $10 more. If I wanted to pay Ebay prices, I would buy from there. I did the work they were supposed to be doing instead of sitting around talking and joking. I won't be back.

What stood out the most was that unlike a shop we visited yesterday (I won't name it, but it's in Hickory), my son wasn't followed around by the owner/staff like he was up to no good (my son is 2 months shy of 7 at the time of this, and he kept his hands in his pockets most of the time, so I'm not sure why that person felt the need to make me uncomfortable by following my kid and getting wide-eyed every time he pointed to something or touched anything). Any temporary diversion from the busy life of a college student is not hard to digest. I just find it so unusual to resort to this type of diversion when everyone has a cellphone or a P.C. and the many relaxation areas on the university. There's a lot of comic books in here. The most I've ever seen under one roof. It's also located one short city block from Gardner Webb. It was early when I arrived. Didn't see any customers.

Comics, cards, figurines, Pops, Star Wars collectibles, Star Trek collectibles, Hot Wheels, etc. I would not have believed the huge stocks from the outside. Plus some oversized Star Wars items: R2D2, a Droid, and a diorama of Dogabah. These guys are fans first and retailers second. Had a nice conversation about comics and left them with information on checking out my collection and possible deals. They were friendly and knowledgeable and willing to help. Check them out! Just leave enough time to browse around and maybe find that one item you have been looking for.

This is my favorite comic book shop in all of Charlotte. They have a good selection of comics, graphic novels, and collectibles. They also sell ice cream/milkshakes, etc. I've yet to partake of the sweet treats, but everyone that I've seen order them, appears to enjoy them fairly well. I like the "feel" of the place. You can tell it was started by someone that LOVES comics and the geek life. Which means they are my people. I enjoy talking with the young man who usually works when I make my monthly pilgrimage. I appreciate this place and I usually end up spending more than I originally intended to. I don't mind supporting them because I want them to be around for a very long time. Just recently made my first visit into this store and was quite pleasantly surprised by it. I was…read morenot expecting most of what I saw. A friend brought his MTG cards to town and was looking for someone to play. Being an old "veteran" of sorts, I took the opportunity to play again for the first time in 10 years. The process was easy. In fact, I'm not sure if my friend even asked permission or paid a fee. We walked in and grabbed an empty table and started playing. It was a Saturday afternoon and before long the place started to fill up with people. Some guys came in with a game called Urban Insanity that they were demoing. Kind of a modern/post apocalyptic rendition of the more well known Carcassonne. We ended up jumping in on a game of that. Before I knew it I saw beers floating and passing around. There were other tables popping up with all sorts of other games going on. People setting up what was bound to be an intense game of Warhammer in the far corner. Another guy quietly painting figures with his headphones in. A great cacophony of noise from all of us playing Urban Insanity. And another amalgamation of tables near the front of the shop that was getting kicked up about some other games. It was like watching a movie and I realized this was a pretty happening, fun place. There are actually taps here - so that's where the beer was coming from. Quite the surprise to me. Lots of snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to choose from too. Magic the Gathering and other table top games go without saying, but I was also pleasantly surprised by the extensive board game collection they have available for purchase from here. I feel a draw in my soul to eventually come back for another event to highlight a new game some time in the future. Looking forward to it!
