My daughter and I went to the Sayville shop on June 14 and had a trial hair and makeup session with Gina, our Bridal Artist. The morning of the wedding Gina arrived with 3 Assistant Artists and after setting up they began working on the bridal party. While Gina was doing my daughter's hair she asked about the gratuity envelopes. House of Makeup provided me with a Gratuity Guide which has very specific instructions regarding the gratuities. They require a 20% gratuity per service and their gratuity directions specify: "1 envelope for the Bridal Artist and 1 envelope for the Assisting Artists, the Head, Bridal Artist on-site will distribute the Bridal Party service envelope evenly amongst the assisting staff". After giving Gina the 2 envelopes, I had to leave the Bridal Party Suite to attend to the flowers, a few minutes later my daughter called me and told me that Gina stopped working on her hair and that I needed to return to the Bridal Party Suite asap. I told my daughter to tell Gina to continue to work on her hair and I would return shortly. My husband and I went to the Bridal Party Suite and asked Gina what the problem was, she said the $600 tip was insufficient. I asked how that could be since I gave a 20 % tip. Our total bill was $3,000.00 (Gina did the bride and MOB total $750. 20% tip = $150.00, Assistants did MOG and 7 girls total $1,650. 20 % tip = $330.00, Assistant Alicia 6 additional hours for touch up total $600. 20% tip = $120.00) Total Tip $600.00. I asked Gina what the tip should be and she could not tell me. She just kept saying the tip is not sufficient. It was unprofessional of her to stop working on my daughter's hair. This totally stressed my daughter and me out. I explained to her how I calculated the tip and she said she has no idea what they charge for the services. I feel she was hustling me for a bigger tip. Her behavior was unprofessional and unwarranted and the anxiety she created was not appreciated. She never did apologize for her mistake. I would recommend using a more professional company, btw they are terrible at returning phone calls.

Luckily for me, Claudette was very kind and patient. She went over the different types of facials that she offers and explained the benefits of each one. My main concern was to even out my skin tone from acne scars and clean out my pores, so we ended up going with the Microdermabrasion facial. I will admit that even after the consultation I was still nervous. I knew that there would be buffing involved and was very scared that it would hurt and my skin would look raw! But boy was I wrong. Claudette was very gentle and took her time, making sure I was comfortable with everything she was doing. Within minutes I was completely relaxed and forgot that I was ever worried about anything. And most recently I got the best pedicure of my life! Nicole is a true nail maven. She filed and styled my toes so meticulously, I was blown away by her attention to detail.
