Have been going to the salon for 20 yrs. I recently moved to another county. Even the one they claim to be the best, doesn't have the accuracy I get from my hairdresser Mamiko! This hair salon deserves more reviews. They are not the trendy type. Interior is not modern, but very tidy and clean. they don't take online appointment, they don't use text, they don't claim the biz on yelp and they don't even take credit cards. Despite all the above, I just want to find a good hair stylist who knows what I want and finish as I expected. Kazu did a great job! Even I don't speak Japanese, from the appointment to completion is well done. I am very satisfied with the service. I showed him what style I want and he nailed it. I first found K's galaxy in 2003 when I was a college grad. My hair resembled a stack of not just hay, but VERY TRY AND UGLY hay, from the many prior years of straightening and coloring nonstop. I booked my first appointment with Naomo purely by chance since she was free. I look back and believe it was fate =). She performed nothing less than magic, and over the next 6 months transformed, restyled and conditioned my hair into incredible shape, and I haven't stopped coming ever since for the last 12+ years. A Japanese hair salon, you want to come here for: Price- It isn't the cheapest haircut, but you gwt what you pay for. All haircuts are super detailed, meticulous and Naomo will either deliver exactly what you want (if you know it), or suggest a suitable style for you. Because of its price, you can also always be reassured that only the best products are used on your hair. No cheap stuff from China! ;) CLEAN AS CAN BE- I think this is as spotless and immaculate as a hair salon can get, and I have been coming here since BEFORE their remodel! Their bathroom is always spotless, as well as the rest of the salon. Quiet- Who would've guessed it's possible to have a hair QUIET salon?! After knowing each other for more than a decade, Naomi and I now joke and chat with each other but even then, when I have my 4-5 hour straightening sessions, she knows the right balance between being kind and friendly vs giving me my space. She allows me the R&R I need to let me do my own thing without chatting nonstop. It's a comfortable silence. I can't stand the places that while stylists mean well, and are nice, I don't need to chat straight for a few hours... Customer Service/ Punctual-- well HELLO, it's Japanese salon, enough said..haha jk, but everyone is always super nice, polite and courteous. K's Galaxy - From my last visit: haircut + Japanese straight perm + coloring! - Hair Salons Near Me - Lomita, California

This is the first Yelp review I've ever written for a small hair salon that deserves amazing reviews. I've been getting my hair cut here for probably 15+ years (since I was a little girl). K's is the only salon that I've ever received a haircut from that I've been fully satisfied with, and I'm 100% satisfied and excited every single time. I usually get my hair cut by Kaz. Even when I had horrendous ideas that I wanted to do to my hair throughout middle school and high school, he made it look good (and that's really saying something). I literally got compliments for weeks following a haircut. For context, I'm Japanese and I have thick hair that's stick straight when it's long, but flips out at random parts when I cut it shorter. I've asked him for volume when it was long (which kept for months on end) and for a shorter looks that don't flip out and are more collected (which I'm considering doing again soon because I loved it). He's styled my hair for various events and the looks have always been flawless and long-lasting. My mom has also been getting her hair cut here for the same amount of time - probably longer - and she refuses to go anywhere else. I no longer live in LA, but I get my hair cut here when I come home. I've gotten my hair cut at other places, many of which are highly reviewed, and have only been disappointed, or gotten it re-cut at K's. It's not the most extravagant, plush experience, but the amazing results and customer service are unparalleled. I plan to keep coming back for as long as I possibly can! read more

It was my first time to get my hair done here. One of my friend told me about this place and I was excited to get digital perm. I wanted to get my long hair wavy without changing any length.(at least looks fresh style) The result was... my hair got big and look so old fashioned! One lady working there as receptionist/hair stylist wasn't friendly at all. And one guy did my hair shampoo and perm, his skill was not so good compare to other places. He doesn't seem experienced enough, he was kept telling "doing something wrong" from his boss while I was getting perm..... After 4 hours of time and paid $180, looks like I cut my hair by myself after I went home. I feel horrible. I went couple different places before, but I felt their all over service was poor. I have been going to K's Galaxy for at least 15 years. Now that I do not live in LA full time, I still fly back to see Naomi. She is very sweet and very caring. I hope she never retires! She is the only person I trust with my hair. My hair always feel better after her treatments and hair cut. read more

Kaz the owner did my cut years ago. Very awkward cut. Hard to style. He was arrogant and very far from humble. He acted that way to me because I spoke Japanese? Either way not a good customer service. I was so happy to get the heck out. Never gone back again since. Total waste of my time and money. read more

I agree with Elina comment 100 % ! Same as me to my hair done yesterday. One of their receptionist to done do my hair. Supposedly , I told them to do my hair by Owner, when I app. When I got their , (actually I didn't know until I sat down chair..) I've been told "Owner went to Japan now" . My mind was going crazy . why they telling me now ? I was appointed long time ago, if they are going to change person ,call me or let me know. This was just started beginning my nightmare! Even I brought and explain to that I wish hair style picture,it doesn't matter because my hair result was horrible. I didn't say nothing complain at all to them that time. I just don't go back that's all. And left feedback honestly to my result at this salon to everybody. My hair had been Digital Perm and hair color by Receptionist / hair cutting person. We are very nice chit chat each other during she was doing my hair( this must be not good for her .....no concentrate to my hair ) But hair color consulting or something, it takes 30min. This person work so slow. End up my hair finishing was 5 hours !!! I can't believe it. This is worst my hair done in my life. She just came from Japan for 2 years ago,I thought first she had some kind of skill already in Japan but seems like doesn't know what she is doing my hair. I found my gray hair was not cover at all after got my home. I know I done to my hair colored done wrong .cuz I did myself.But even so don't you do any gray cover at least ? And then speaking of Digital Perm, I never to do again this perm at any place. Long story to short, after everything cutting my hair and perm. I looked mirror my hair was totally Person wake up morning messed up hair ! that type of looks !! Awful. I guaranty that absolutely I could do my hair color and cutting skill to myself better ! Then I paid $220 !! ( without tips ) And I didn't know they didn't take credit card , only cash! So I have to go get money to cross the street Gas station to ATM !! If you still want to go to this Salon. I 'd telling you ,the person who the first time to go their, please be aware who's gonna do your hair at this Salon when you appointment. Ever since I cut my hair short I am a hair salon gypsy. I just can't find a good stylist. My favorite stylist is in Japan but I can't go back there just to get a hair cut! I saw a good review for Kaz on yelp so I gave it a shot. It's been only couple weeks since I got hair cut by him. My hair goes everywhere and I can't even style it! Now I really think u need to find an Asian hairstylist to cut Asian hair right.!Kaz, the owner, gives awesome cuts. $50 for a haircut from the most senior person in the salon is really a good price too! I have been going there for over ten years. Kaz is great. He has been on top of new trends and technologies, yet very sensitive to my own style and comfort zone.
