Dial searching, out of my frustration w/the lack of a good radio morning show in a small Virginia…read moremarket, I found Kidd Kraddick. Initially I knew I was not the demo for their audience. Still, I occasionally tuned in - at that time Kellie Rasberry was out on extended maternity leave. Her daughter is now 7 & the great Dave Cradick aka Kidd Kraddick has sadly died. The last few years I've listened 5 days a week to the current lineup of Kellie, J-Si (Jose Chavez), Jenna Owens, the inimitable Big Al Mack & world's best board op Shanon Murphy. They have carried on since Kidd's been gone. AND they continue to do an entertaining show. Content is built around show biz news & family friendly phoners w/major stars. Lots of games for fans too. Their charity work with Kidd's Kids is exemplary. I am a former radio professional & entertainer. My radio listening started in the world's largest market, NYC. I know good radio. That's why I listen to Kidd Kraddick in the morning. They have a net presence at KiddNation.com & are syndicated in 70+ US markets. Broadcast in the New River Valley on J-104.5 FM Bluefield WV. Southern Florida Hotels, is this another voice computer system or is this a recorded person announcer? 4. Part Time Justin: He is a positive DJ, which is great to hear especially during the morning when I am waking up still. 5. Text 0707 is mentioned for what? 6. I noticed the new singers name or band are not being mentioned, why? 7. Traffic announcer is brief. I enjoy hearing artists such as George Strait, Randy Travis, Merle Haggard, Don Williams, Buck Owens, Ray Price, Charley Pride, Charlie Rich and Tammy Wynette. Country Legends 92.1 serves a growing market of people who enjoy country music the way it used to be, before it was polluted by the current Nashville sound that seems to be a bad imitation of southern rock and 80s hair band power ballads. Since when is Bon Jovi considered country? Is it because he wears a cowboy hat? Country Legends 92.1 has been a great alternative to other choices.I used to listen 95.3 The Range, until they changed their format, focusing more on the goat-voiced southern rock sounds of "Texas country" and the whole Red River scene that is popular in redneck circles in Oklahoma and Texas. Real country music is alive and well on Country Legends 92.1. I like going to Sundance Square in Ft. Worth and watching the DJ broadcast live through the window at the station.

It was refreshing to find a station that feels genuinely curated rather than run by some algorithm. An adult format that ranged from classics to newer tunes, which we enjoyed even if many of those new tunes were unfamiliar. For as long as we listened, no commercials and it was nice. And I see that they're "New, local and legendary music for North Texas. Commercial-free public radio." They have a whole local program that cranks out the jams. There's no real commercials on this station, just public service announcements, and underwriting announcements. The DJs are fun, and not some corporate dudes in a booth, or some AI generated voice that pipes in endless chatter. Instead, you can get a finger on the pulse of the live music scene around, and they focus on bands who are coming through and playing at venues you can visit around town. The music is much more than just some top 40 hits station, or some corporate run Belo or Clear Channel Communications stationit has the local heart and soul of the city of Dallas. If you don't like the music, give it an hour or two, and they'll have something else on later.

I like stuff that you don't here on "country" radio....UNLESS, you got it dialed in to 95.3 THE RANGE! They play every thing from the locals like Owen Temple, The Old 97's, Sorta, Macon Greyson, Max Stalling, Bleu Edmonson...And they also play artists from back in the day, and the new young independent studs. Nunn, the 2 kings of my music world JJW and REK, Randy Rogers, CCR(both kinds), 1100 Springs(the best damn band in Texas), Willie, Waylon and Me. They are very good about announcing jazz events in the metroplex. The play list can be a bit repetitious (only a little bit), and the student-announcers make occasional beginner's errors. (I thought I had made a mistake once, but I was wrong.) KNTU is run by University of North Texas on a shoestring budget. They broadcast all UNT's sports events. The 5:30 p.m. news hour is the most comprehensive offered in the D-FW listening area. (Except maybe "All Things Considered" on PBS, which is in a class by itself.)
