Several chimney companies came by with various approaches and pricing. I found Metro Chimney and Joe through a neighbor who had just had his chimney rebuilt through Metro and was very happy. Joe came by, gave me his bid and put me on his schedule. I was able to walk around our South Minneapolis neighborhood and see previous chimney work Metro has done. Although it was several months before they could do the work (very busy chimney repair season) I'm glad that I went with him. They rebuilt the top 5 to feet of the chimney and the Santa Fe tone brick looks great with the remaining stucco chimney and house. The crew knew what they were up to and very professional and thoughtful. The work took 4 days including the install of scaffolding. It's not cheap but much lower than the company that told me the whole chimney need replacing. Joe said they were wrong and just the top 5 feet need rebuilding. Joe is an honest hard working guy who has long term experienced employees. I had a good experience with this company.

And most importantly, they take only what they are able to do and what they really are, and not everything.

Only one clamp was used on either side of the connector, normally two are used on each side (my neighbor just had 3 used on their system). Two clamps provide leak protection in the event a single clamp, which might not get installed tight enough (some dirt under clamp when tightened or clamp slightly twisted when fastened) begins to leak. Well, it developed a high volume leak which eroded away the soil around the retaining wall (20 feet away) In addition to digging up the yard, the retaining wall now requires repair. I called the company and explained the situation. FULL DISCLOSURE: I bought the house from the original owners who had the system installed... I did NOT pay for the original installation. I have no grounds for warranty. I understand that.... However, poor installation is poor installation. It can result in leaks far in the future. Temaca provided me with the date of installation as being four years ago therefore it is not under warranty. He offered to send out a service person for a charge. I felt a single clamp installation was sub standard, they should know that will eventually leak. I didn't think he should be charged for a service call for Shotty installation. He stated he's been installing systems for 26 years and doesn't need my installation advice. That's their standard installation. Indicating single clamp installation is sufficient. I cannot attest to how many of those systems have leaked. I do know the cost of the two dozen extra clamps needed to do the job correctly, pales in comparison to repairs needed to my retaining wall and yard! Even though I am not entitled to any warranty I thought a company, advertiseing "pride in their work" would at least send out an individual to see if their installation might've been the cause and put a couple more clamps on. The conversation did not last long enough for me to even mention the damage to my retaining wall. As for his offer of a paid service call, no thanks. I think I will fix it myself or go someplace else.

I had a great…read moreexperience with the install and the workers were professional and very patient when there were some plumbing problems with the house. Once the plumbing was resolved with the city the entire system worked flawlessly. I needed some adjustments later when we purchased sone extra sod and the owner came out himself and did the adjustments for me. After that he showed me how to make adjustments myself if I was feeling up to it. My sod was installed by a big builder during the summer drought of 2021 and Ryan(the owner) gave me guidance on how to keep my sod alive and thriving. Temaca has been great and also will install a smart controller that is easy to use! I can't recommend them higher.
