Not a bad selection (best in Boone), and prices aren't bad. However, I'm only giving 2 stars…read morebecause the repair work I've had done here was HORRIBLE. First, I took a friend's acoustic by for a setup. When it came back, it was actually worse. Buzzing on multiple frets and the already high action was higher. The electronics in the guitar had been disconnected as well, so I had to take it back and pay to get them soldered back in place. Next, I took a very nice Gretsch electric I just purchased for a setup (to give him a second chance). This guitar came back from the setup with no buzzing and a nice action, but the intonation was so almost a half step out on the higher frets. I couldn't play it because it sounded so horrible, and I had to take it down to Hickory to a very experienced luthier I know to get it straightened out. Finally, my roommate has a nice Martin ($2000 retail) that he took by for a setup a while back. The action was OVER " at the 12th fret, and his Fishman pickup (that he had post-market installed) was no longer working. I took the guitar back to my pro luthier in Hickory to once again straighten out the mess. Turns out, AMS for some reason placed shims under the bridge of the guitar to raise the action. These shims weren't allowing the undersaddle pickup to work, and had to be removed. After getting the guitar back from the pro luthier, the action was perfect and the pickup sounded great. AMS originally claimed that the guitar was not well made so that was as low as the action could go (at almost ¼"!!! and it was a nice Martin!!!). That being said, I will continue to buy accessories and strings from them. Their staff is very helpful and friendly, thus why I'm giving 2 stars and not 1. However, I will NEVER get them to do any work on my instruments ever again. (Just to clarify, I am perfectly knowledgeable and capable of setting up my own guitars, but I unfortunately don't have time to do so.)

They didn't have the finish I was looking for so he offered to order it for me and after a couple weeks I was just informed by the owner it shipped from the manufacturer today and I am thrilled to soon be holding my new favorite guitar! Thanks to Bobby and the guys at Appalachian Music! Fan for life here!

There aren't enough superlatives to describe our experience with Tim and Barnes Piano. We moved to…read moreCharlotte last January with a 35-year-old player piano that had been moved several time and kept in storage for awhile. It was tuned last year by someone else and didn't hold the tune. It sounded just awful! I found Barnes Piano online and they were quick to respond to my request for information, understanding about my having to postpone them coming out and then prompt, professional, SO knowledgable and thorough when they did. Love the confirmation that gets sent directly to my calendar - an added little bonus! Tim came and explained in depth the current state of our piano and what needed to be done. He was clear about the different levels of service, up front about the costs and completely honest about what really needed to be done now and what could wait. I especially appreciate that! He was here all morning and the piano sounds just great! It wasn't cheap, but like I said, they are completely upfront about their pricing for their various services - right on their website, actually, which is a really great resource. So nothing was a surprise, and I'm happy to pay for good service done well! Really, I can't say enough good things. You will be so happy if you decide to work with Tim and his crew!

Our scheduled appointment was postponed by this company the day of the appointment. When it was…read morerescheduled, the technician showed up without necessary tools, and borrowed my vacuum, swabs, etc. At completion, we were Up charged $75 with no conversation or warning. Technician Daniel used glue on my Queen Anne Baby Grand without my knowledge or permission. Piano began losing its tuning within 2 months. When I reached out for a solution, Well -Loved Piano was very quick to offer excuses but not customer service. I itemized the infractions above and Michael and Danette came out the next morning. I let them know in writing that they would be greeted with coffee, kindness, a good attitude and the intention of us all walking away happy. After the re-tuning, Danette had what can only be described as an extremely unprofessional, unstable, crying, ranting episode. I understand being defensive when faced with personal or professional shortcomings. But, Danette made me very uncomfortable in my own home, having to contend with both substandard services as well as her erratic behavior.
