There aren't enough superlatives to describe our experience with Tim and Barnes Piano. We moved to Charlotte last January with a 35-year-old player piano that had been moved several time and kept in storage for awhile. It was tuned last year by someone else and didn't hold the tune. It sounded just awful! I found Barnes Piano online and they were quick to respond to my request for information, understanding about my having to postpone them coming out and then prompt, professional, SO knowledgable and thorough when they did. Love the confirmation that gets sent directly to my calendar - an added little bonus! Tim came and explained in depth the current state of our piano and what needed to be done. He was clear about the different levels of service, up front about the costs and completely honest about what really needed to be done now and what could wait. I especially appreciate that! He was here all morning and the piano sounds just great! It wasn't cheap, but like I said, they are completely upfront about their pricing for their various services - right on their website, actually, which is a really great resource. So nothing was a surprise, and I'm happy to pay for good service done well! Really, I can't say enough good things. You will be so happy if you decide to work with Tim and his crew! read more

Our scheduled appointment was postponed by this company the day of the appointment. When it was rescheduled, the technician showed up without necessary tools, and borrowed my vacuum, swabs, etc. At completion, we were Up charged $75 with no conversation or warning. Technician Daniel used glue on my Queen Anne Baby Grand without my knowledge or permission. Piano began losing its tuning within 2 months. When I reached out for a solution, Well -Loved Piano was very quick to offer excuses but not customer service. I itemized the infractions above and Michael and Danette came out the next morning. I let them know in writing that they would be greeted with coffee, kindness, a good attitude and the intention of us all walking away happy. After the re-tuning, Danette had what can only be described as an extremely unprofessional, unstable, crying, ranting episode. I understand being defensive when faced with personal or professional shortcomings. But, Danette made me very uncomfortable in my own home, having to contend with both substandard services as well as her erratic behavior. read more

It's so nice to find a service provider that offers craftsmanship and care to our aging piano. It sounds better that it has for many years.

We have a 1942 Winter piano. Dannette spent almost 4 hours on it, and it sounds amazing now. She meticulously cleaned the piano inside and out, even had a special cleaner for the ivory keys. The previous tuner who worked on this piano had the keys in tune relative to each other, but the whole piano was flat. Dannette got us in perfect tune. The piano sounds noticeably brighter and clearer now. And the biggest surprise of all was the price - about $30 less than our previous tuner. I am giving Well-Loved Piano/Charlotte an enthusiastic 5 stars! They will be getting all our piano business going forward. Treat yourself to the best and check them out! read more

Our piano is old but we love it. It was old local musicians beloved piano in Connecticut for a long time. Lucky us, got it and moved it across the State. My daughter played and enjoyed it but eventually departed home...since then, not much played and not very well taken care of... Nick came and tuned it. He works diligently and carefully. He fixed dented hummers one by one. Our old piano sounds so beautiful! Despite his great work, price is very reasonable. He is polite and wonderful pianist too! Could not be happier! The piano was overdue for tuning anyway, and then the lid fell-on my 1950s Baldwin baby grand. I scheduled my appointment with Kimberley, and she was punctual to the moment-had every tool imaginable-and got straight to work. She fixed the lid, tuned the piano, gave a fair diagnosis of future improvements needed (and showed me everything). I don't know that I'll call anyone else, as long as Tim's crowd is in town. We recently replaced our old piano with a new one. We cannot say enough about how valuable Kim's help has been in this process. She researched main suppliers in our area and the brands before she accompanied us to the store, where she gave us detailed information about each model shown on the floor. When it's time to talk with the dealer, her involvement totally changed the balance between the seller and less knowledgeable customers. She also helped us negotiate with the dealer on trading in our old piano. After 10 years, it was way past time to get our piano tuned. I saw the good reviews for Barnes on Yelp, and decided to try them. Talking to Tim's assistant on the phone was great, she was able to answer my questions, and I set up an appointment. This was followed up with an email confirmation, a reminder email several days before, and a phone call reminder the day before. The actual tuning was fantastic! Tim is very knowledgeable, and clearly has such a passion for pianos that he takes great pride in his craft, which is so different from many people I've hired over the years. The price was as quoted, very reasonable for such an out of tune piano, and I not only learned a lot from him, but also felt great that there are still areas where a skilled professional can help people out while performing a service they love. Despite two separate inquiries about tuning a piano, this business would not even afford me the courtesy of a call back-even to say "hey, we're too busy to tune your piano, let alone to give you a call back to say we can't do it." Tim was able to fix all of our sticking keys and to get our piano sounding great! This was after being moved twice and spending a year on its side in storage that was not climate controlled. Our piano is old and not high end but has sentimental value. Tim respected that and taught me about how to take care of it in the years to come. read more
