We checked in periodically until the wedding, and she managed changes to the number of bouts and corsages that I needed all the way down to a few days before the wedding. The day of, she delivered the flowers early, and they looked absolutely beautiful and exactly what I wanted. I had a small, intimate wedding at a venue where the space we were in served as both my wedding and reception space. The venue was a bit dated, but she made it BEAUTIFUL. The planning process was seamless. I"m an indecisive person and and I'm not really creative. I don't "make" things and I'm certainly no visionary. I'm more of the "That's pretty, how much does it cost?" type of gal. Brenda took what I liked and elevated it. She was very professional and so easy to work with and I couldn't have been more happy with the job she did! I was also on a tight budget and somehow she made it work! She dressed my wedding/reception from top to bottom - from my bridal party to the cake; not just with beautiful bouquets and arrangements, but with her own personal touches. I wanted to have a money tree and had yet to purchase one and Brenda provided me with a money box - this wonderful box shaped as a house with slots to add pictures of me and my hubby. I had no idea what I was going to do about renting some sort of arch or altar and lo and behold - Brenda had her own beautiful rustic looking altar which she offered to let me use and decorated so intricately. Instead of the usual bows that align the seats along the aisle, she put together these amazing tall, glass cylinders with flowers and floating candles to light and adorn my path. Details that I hadn't even thought of, she was prepared with ideas and suggestions. I really don't know what I would've done without her. As with the reviewer below, my wife and I fortunately stumbled upon Brenda's blog while browsing the Internet for a florist for our wedding. We had some very specific concepts in mind for our wedding florals: We want to incorporate living plants, specifically succulents, so that we and our guests could preserve the plants after the blessed event. All in all, Brenda was a pleasure to work with, plus if you review her blog, you'll see that she has wonderful, creative ideas. We met with her for coffee, and she and my wife hammered out concepts for bouquets, table arrangements, and boutonnières relatively quickly, with Brenda paying careful attention, sketching concepts, and providing invaluable feedback all the while. (She also came prepared with her laptop computer so she could quickly call up images of plants and flowers she had in mind, which was very handy.) Brenda was also incredibly patient with us, as we were a little indecisive as to how many of each type of arrangement we'd need. We didn't give her final numbers until the last minute, and she took that well in stride. Most important, of course: The product she delivered exceeded our expectations. We got married three weeks ago (August 2016) at the Log Cabin in the Presidio, and Brenda did an AMAZING job on our flowers! She was so wonderful to work with throughout the whole process. She came to our apartment and we had a lovely conversation for an hour or two about flowers and our general aesthetic preferences. I created a Yelp account just so I could praise Brenda for how amazing she is. Above and beyond doesn't even begin to describe the work she does. Seriously, look no further if you're searching for an affordable florist in SF. We hired Brenda to handle all of the floral arrangements for my brother's wedding at the SF Zoo. She is super professional and responsive, and we were able to coordinate everything from inspiration/color palette discussions to the final proposal and pricing all over email. Brenda has such a high level of expertise and creativity when it comes to wedding florals, she was able to provide really helpful guidance around what would work best for the room, tables, and seating arrangements. We knew very little about wedding florals going in and had a very vague idea of what the bride wanted, but had a hard time articulating the details. It's taken me awhile to write this review, but.... Let me just say that Brenda is absolutely wonderful!!! I got married last July, and was stressed out about all of the things that I needed to do beforehand. One of my students' mom's knew I was getting married and referred me to Brenda. I checked out her blog, and was impressed with what I saw, but I noticed that she said she would be taking the month of July off. I got in touch with her anyway, and she said that since she was referred by someone and was available for that day, she would go ahead and do the flowers for me! We only needed flowers for the ceremony, as we did something different for the centerpieces at the reception. I had decided I wanted to stick with roses for the flowers. When I told Brenda how much we could spend on flowers (which was not much!), she said that she could do all of that for a little bit more, including tax! I did have to add some other flowers to keep the cost down, because the roses are more expensive. Brenda and I met at a cafe, and she took the time to help me decide what other flowers would work with our colors (purple and green) and the budget. She was also interested in other aspects of the wedding, and since she's also a day-of coordinator, was able to give advice and answer questions about anything else I wanted to know. The day of our wedding came, and I was amazed at how beautiful the flowers were! The flowers were nothing like I imagined - they were so much better! Perfect! I couldn't believe how lucky I got with such a wonderful florist. And at such a great price! She was on time, professional, and stayed to make sure everything was taken care of. I've hired Brenda at Kuga Designs for multiple events including two weddings and my son's high school graduation party. All three times, the flowers came out AMAZING! Brenda can work with any budget and she has incredible artistic talent. Her business is primarily flowers, but she also does amazing crafts and has a gorgeous collection of milk glass vases. I appreciate that Brenda takes the time to understand what you want or envision, and she'll work with you to make it happen. If you have a budget, she can advise you on what flowers will be in season for your event and how to adjust your plans accordingly. For my first wedding, I met with her to give her my ideas for my wedding bouquet, bouts, and centerpieces. We really hit it off from the start as she is very easy to work with and has a great customer oriented attitude. I gave her a few instructions and left most of it to her creative powers. I am so glad that I did because she really blew it out of the water on the flowers for my wedding --- when I walked into the banquet hall for my wedding, I swore that I was walking into a high end wedding magazine picture! It is my great pleasure to be the first to review Kuga Designs! I found Brenda's blog while I was surfing the internet for floral ideas. I really liked her blog and I thought her passion, creativity, and down-to-earthness was readily apparent. (It's a wonky blog, and I mean it in the nicest way - she really thinks about flowers, she has a wide range of styles, and she's up to date on floral trends. Check it out.). When I realized that she was actually local (!), I contacted her immediately. My then-fiance-now-husband and I liked her right away when we met her. She was very prompt with returning emails and phone calls, and I loved working with her. It is very easy to talk with her. Everyone cares about different (all/some/none) aspects of planning a wedding. For me, flowers were something I cared a lot about, and (un)fortunately I know enough about flowers and varietals to be picky. I realized a few months before our wedding that there was no way I could possibly DIY wedding flowers given the time sensitivity and enormous amount of labor involved. Brenda is an ideal wedding florist. She personally likes weddings (some florists don't), she's artistic AND also extremely organized. She worked with what I thought was a fairly difficult budget given what we wanted, and gave us suggestions for lowering our floral costs (different styles of arrangements, etc). Her work is beautiful, fresh, meticulous, and she was patient through the process of refining the designs. Because she is starting her own studio, her prices are extremely reasonable if not downright low. Decent glassware that can stand up to the weight and pressure of large arrangements can be expensive (and an area where florists may add on), but she gave us the option of renting, or buying vases at cost. She preordered nearly everything at the SF flower mart for our event to maximize color scheme and freshness, and she kindly met me there (she goes frequently) so I could point out specific color schemes and varietals. I was stunned when I walked into our venue on our wedding day - the flowers were gorgeous. We received many compliments from our guests - some said they had never seen such beautiful flowers at a wedding. She delivered the personal flowers on time (if not a little early), and worked really well with Jessica (our coordinator) to make our venue stunning. In summary: check out her blog. Brenda was the floral designer for our SF City Hall wedding. She did a fantastic job of creating a winter wonderland themed setting with her floral designs. And she did this based on a few questions, working within our budget to make it all come to life. She created bridal bouquets, boutineers, centerpieces, two large standing pieces, and a number of separate table pieces. She also decorated our wedding cake with roses.
