The staff was creepy and stalked us around the facility. We were not allowed to bring any outside food or drink due to Covid however the staff wasn't wearing masks at all. My family would go to our vehicles to eat or drink something. They would watch us from the windows to see what we were doing. Twenty minutes before the end of our service they told us to get all the flower arrangements out of the building. Staff is odd and totally unprofessional. Bathroom was trashed looked like a truck stop bathroom. Staff didn't follow directions and the director of the funeral home was clueless and snarky. Please do your loved ones and yourselves a favor and go elsewhere. You will be happier and this place shouldn't even be in business. read more

It feels weird giving a place like this any amount of stars let alone 5 *4 stars is the best with the little saying "yay I'm a fan". But seriously this place has come to seem like a second home over the last few years as cancer has claimed several members of my family. It's weird, I didnt think you could get comfortable in a place thats entire being is based off of death and passing, but in and over the last 6 years i guess i proved my self wrong. Unfortunately it seems we loose a family member a year to cancer *at least for the last 5 years* and each member has ended up at Kuiper. Though obviously sad while your there, the staff goes above and beyond to make you as comfortable as humanly possible while you are there mourning your loss. Plenty of room with comfy chairs. Excellent "lounge" area including the coolest coffee maker i possibly have ever seen. I am not sure if its some type of law in Indiana or its just something Kuipers has worked out with the Local PD *i have never seen this at any other funeral i have been to in IL or IN* But we had a police escort from the funeral home to the cemetery, including blocking off the intersections. It was very nice of them. With the loss of my grandma last week, the staff at Kuipers made her passing a little easier, and I am positive we will use their service again in the future read more

We recently had a loved one's funeral at Kuiper. In the rush and grief of going through such an ordeal, we felt that Kuiper's staff was there for us, dependably arranging everything, making such a beautiful and honoring several days for our loved one and giving a comforting presence to us as the grieving family. My mother passed away this year & we had her memorial at Kuiper Funeral Home. We had arranged a 3-4 hour visitation, followed by the memorial service. Just prior to the service - a "horrible odor" started to seep into the rooms. We asked several members of Kuiper personnel what it was. They said they didn't smell anything. Then we noticed that the heat was turned up & it became very hot & uncomfortable. This was probably an attempt to mask the odor. We had to ask them to turn it down. My brother worked in a funeral home & I am in the medical field. We knew immediately what was happening. My brother asked Kuiper personnel if they were "enbalming" a body & they said no. Most people have never smelled an enbalming odor, but it is something that you never want to do especially at your mother's memorial service. I just happened to have a pleasant smelling spray that saved everyone from being nauseous. Our service ended about 9:00 pm. We barely had walked out of my mother's memorial service room when a Kuiper personnel approached us & said (I am quoting his exact words) - "the service is over - you can go." We had food at the service & they had packed everything up & started handing it to us. We were "rushed" out of the building. I couldn't believe they treated us this way & we paid a lot of money for their services. I don't even have words to express what happened. We have used Kuipers twice in the recent past and was pleased with them, although we paid a lot of money for these two funerals. Here is the qwirk! My sister just recently passed unexpectingly and unfortunately she was single and had no money so taking care of her arrangements fell on me and when I phoned Kuipers and explained to them the situation I was in with no money and inquiring how much a cremation was, this man just frankly was not interested in my situation. It was more or less if you got the money he could help me if not oh well. I asked him if he knew of any cremation places that would do it for less. He told that there were Cremation Societies but that he knew nothing about them and that he couldn't give me any phone numbers or any info he knew nothing. I find this hard to believe he didn't know anything about these places, they are in the same business as Kuipers. I really felt the situation was if I didn't have any money then they were not gonna help me what so ever and wanted to get off the phone. I was reallly hurt and disturbed by them as they were great when we paid them tons of money, but when needing help or info with no money they made it clear they wantd nothing to do with me or even waste time on the phone with me!!! read more
