I had the time of my life here! It was pouring rain and we weren't able to kayak and do standup paddle boarding, but we were still able to walk to the waterfall and pick fruits/mac nuts and take in the natural absolute beauty that this place has to offer. Even just driving through the area was a breathtaking experience. Everything here is so lush and green. And the office manager was THE BEST. Extremely kind. So hospitable. Just entirely good vibes all around and so worth the experience. I will definitely be coming back here next time we visit!! read more

I stay with family about 15 minutes from the falls and was looking for some local adventure when I came across this surreal farm experience. I originally found the day pass to the waterfalls but after doing more research, I discovered a fun cooking class. They were incredibly accommodating as I have food allergies. I drove 10 miles straight up the road through the most beautiful view which has the best overlook of Hilo. It becomes a one lane road so take it slow and enjoy the drive. When I arrived I was greeted with by the friendly staff who live on property. You can stay at the inn or the cabins which all look beautiful. I met London who is newer to the property and was our guide for the day. It was myself and another lovely couple. The environment made it easy for all of us to become fast friends. We picked all of our food from the gardens and eggs fresh from the chickens. I was able to feed the goats which was my favorite part. We then went to the barn to make a family style meal. It was fun and fabulous. It is not a standard cooking class so think if this as an experience. Afterwards we enjoyed an afternoon at the waterfall. The environment is peaceful and friendly and I cannot wait to come back in December. There are additional experiences to take part in along with other tours along the way. I love that I made new friends and have new memories to share! read more

Kulaniapia Adventures runs out of The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls which is an aInn with several houses overlooking a beautiful waterfall. We decided on a whim to book a rappelling adventure. It was one of the major highlights of our trip. They run several tours but for any Kama'aina they have a 40% off rate at the 8 am tour. Totally worth getting up a little earlier. Our guides Brian and Zack were very good and was all about the safety. They take you on a practice run down a hill and explain about the different techniques you will have to apply for the actual rappel. It had been raining so the falls were pumping. I will admit to getting a bit nervous but seeing the professionalism of our guides made me feel more confident. The rappel was spectacular and so much fun! I was proud of myself and my family for getting down the falls. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!! They provide all the equipment including tabis for your feet a back pack and containers to hold your phones or small cameras. It is the rain forest so you will get dirty, muddy and wet and there are bugs and such. So bring a change of clothes and for women with longer hair, hair ties, they will want you to put it up in a low bun so it won't get caught in the rigging.There is some hiking involved but so worth the effort! I am hoping we can stay at the beautiful Inn next time. It was a peaceful atmosphere with amazing things to see. We even saw a hawaiian hawk on our way to the falls! read more

I didn't stay at the Inn, but I had the opportunity to go rappelling down the waterfall and had the most amazing time. My guides Lauren and Eli were very knowledgeable about rappelling and had great tips on how to get the most out of the experience. It was an adrenaline rush for sure, but when I was halfway down the waterfall and took a second to look around I was overcome by serenity and calmness. Such a cool feeling. 10/10 would recommend!! read more
