I apologized and told him I must have misheard, then we did an awkward back and forth where he said it was fine and I was like no it's okay (because who knows, I'm getting old and my hearing could totally be going). When I contacted Timex about fixing my father's Marlin (circa the '70s-'80s, I was told) they recommended a former employee in Florida. He initially did a great job of restoring the watch's second hand and repairing the water damage. The watch worked fine for months, but late last year, while still working, stopped keeping proper time. When I contacted the same repairman, he did not respond to several messages. (He was in his 80s, so he may have thrown in the towel.) I thought I was sunk -- until I learned about Marcel at Grand Jewelry. When I brought the watch to him, he said he would look at it but made no promises that he could fix it. "Call me in two weeks," he said. I did, and the Marlin now keeps remarkably excellent time for a stem-winder. It's rarely more than a minute off the mark. And he charged me less than $100 for his work. I am a very happy customer can't recommend Marcel more highly.

I came to these folks because they are nearby and I needed several things fixed- I wanted my gold…read moreplated chain fixed as a link broke, a watch battery replaced, and most importantly a pet pendant containing a beloved dog's ashes resized (the chain part). Everything came back perfect. All adjustments were done to specification, and they were smart enough to adjust the length of my bracelet from both sides instead of just from one like I had asked, which keeps the pendant more centered. I also noticed my gold plated chain came back even more shiny and gold so I don't know if it was re-plated or just polished and cleaned but I love it. Great job! And I believe I spent only about a $100 for all three things which was extremely worth it. Turnaround was about a week and they had a good process to set up the pickup to ensure no one can just take your jewelry.
