I love coming to Kung fu tea, whether it's just to stop and get a drink, or sit and hang out with a friend. They have games (cards, board games, jenga, etc) so you're never bored/board (haha puns). Anyways, I really like their drinks. They're different, creative, and aren't just watered down tea. The best part is that their bubbles actually have flavor. I don't usually get bubbles because they end up being lame and boring chewy balls of dough but Kung fu tea knows how to make them! After going through other tea places here at this spot, kung fu tea arrives! It's awesome!! Right in town and super near campus. Kung fu tea is a franchise tea house and this is their first outlet in Madison (and Wisconsin too). It's one of my favorite bubble tea places around. Getting one of their best sellers is always a safe bet. Classic milk tea, taro versions, oreo milk tea are good options. Their bubbles are cooked through and chewy. I would also recommend their herbal jelly (goes really well with oolong milk tea) and pudding. For something special I also recommend their yoghurt orange, or yoghurt anything really. They squeeze in fresh fruit juice into the yoghurt, does it get any better than that? I remember once I was kind of under the weather when I visited and that made me feel better. Side note: those yoghurt varieties don't come cheap, wished it could be cheaper so I feel less bad having it more often. Love love love!! This place never disappoints! I usually get the winter melon milk tea with bubbles or chai milk tea with bubbles if I need more caffeine. As a person who usually gets bubble tea from China town in San Francisco, I must say this place matches up to the authenticity of the China town bubble tea. You can truly taste the flavor of the tea itself and the added flavor does not drown out the flavor of the actual tea--it adds to it and creates a beautiful blend. It makes me feel fresh and awake--unlike the bubble tea at Sencha (which has a lot of artificial flavors and unnecessary amount of sugar). The bubbles are the best part-- they are sweetly flavored and cooked to a perfection. My husband just went here to get us a tea. He said that when he greeted the employee she did not even answer him. She then continued to be very rude the whole time he was ordering and slammed the drink down angrily when it was finished. It also was made wrong and tasted like she had intentionally made it with no or very little tea. We drive from the north side on Monday because our usual spot Jade mountain is closed. I've been here twice now (prior to leaving this review) and I highly recommend coming here. The drinks are absolutely delicious. The first time I came here it was a week-night, and it wasn't extremely busy, but the second time I came here on a Sunday, in the early afternoon, and it was very busy. This is the third Kung Fu tea location in two states that I've been to, and it's definitely the worst. I was desperate for boba and felt it would be a safe and consistent choice. How wrong I was. The drink took 15 minutes to put out, the boba was hard and sad to chew, and the tea was meh. love this place. It's usually not that busy and always bomb. They have so many flavors and options that sometimes it is even overwhelming, but when you get your order you tasty delight. I love the Oreo flavors they have. Plus it's a laid back atmosphere. My only ding is that when it's busy ,(which is not all the time), it can take a while for you order. First of all love how the place looks inside and the atmosphere is great. I got peach oolong teach with bubbles which were these little squishy balls at the bottom and they were fun to chew on while drinking it! Went to the one in Chicago Chinatown. Didn't expect they would open one in Madison. Same flavor, red bean is a must try! One complaint though, the drinks are WAY too sweet! Whenever I visit college towns, I'm always on the prowl for some good bubble milk tea. While in town for Pirates' Day, I managed to convince my friends to stop here for a sugar and caffeine powerup before continuing our shenanigans. Pretty legit milk tea (tried the coconut and the almond), and I love that you can customize the sugar and ice levels. I tend to like things on the less sweet side (a product of getting older?) so this was a nice feature. Bubbles were chewey and perfectly done without being mushy. Good selection of flavors (black and green milk teas, coffee, fruit slushes) and additions (bubbles, red jelly, etc.), plus they had a frequent customer card (buy 9, get 10th free). A bit steep for college prices (~$5 for a large with bubbles), but a surprising find in Madison. read more

Close to 5 stars, but then it would be the same rating as my favorite bubble tea spot in Madison. Pros: numerous flavor choices, no-spill lid, ability to adjust sugar level. Cons: few tables (all were occupied), price. $4.22 after tax for a medium. Plus, the last few "bubbles" were damn near impossible to get out of the bottom of the cup (I don't have that problem at Jade Mountain).
