This place is new since the last time we came to Rochester and to Pho Chau. I can't even remember what was there before Kung Fu Tea took over. This is probably going to be my second go to place for bubble tea next to Tii Cup of course. It's great that they have online order for pickup during the pandemic. It was quick and easy to order. We had to perouse the menu on their website to learn what is all on the menu since the postmates ordering online doesn't include a description of what's in the drink. I love that they don't skimp on the bobas. We ordered the Cocoa cream Wow and the herbal jelly wow. I like that the drink is not so sweet without you telling them how sweet you want it like at Chatime. Overall, a good experience and the drunk is reasonable. I have driven up and down North Broadway countless times as a former resident of Rochester and now as a visitor. After visiting Kohl's in the south part of the city, I drove up North Broadway, enjoying a sunny, warm March day. There are moments when I am completely stunned at what I see. I noticed a bubble tea store to my right. OMG! What?! It's Kung Fu Tea! During my two years in Rochester, I had never had bubble tea, let alone seen an establishment that sold it. I felt like this store was a mirage! I was shocked and knew that I needed to do a hard stop. I immediately turned right in my rental car. I then realized that this move was horrible, as Silver Lake, Rochester's only lake and a manmade one, too, would not let me do a proper around-the-block move. I ended up doing some odd sequence of left turns to ultimately park on 10th Street NE and walk over to Kung Fu Tea. As I walked over without a coat on, I was trying to remember what used to be here. I drew a blank. It was that boring here that nothing was memorable. My take is that it was a series of houses in this area that are slowly being converted to businesses. What is also amazing is that there's a pho restaurant next door in a converted house. I have flagged it for my next visit. Kung Fu Tea has a patio with picnic tables. I can see that being a hit in the summertime. I looked at all the posters displayed in front of the store. I liked everything. I opened the door and walked in. You immediately see two huge screens that show all bubble teas offered here. I stood there and was impressed. I walked over to the ordering counter. The lone man operating the store was busy completing a bubble tea order. It was perfect for me to continue looking at the menu on the counter and figure out what I wanted. He came over after preparing a bubble tea order, greeted me, and asked what I'd like. I went with a large strawberry lemon green tea. I had to ask him what nata jelly was. He advised that it's a coconut-pineapple jelly mix. Perfect! I got some. I paid using a credit card. All went well. I waited patiently and took photos of the place. It does feel like a house. The sun was coming in, which made me happy. I loved the fresh flowers on the counter. There are tables and chairs to sit down and enjoy a beverage. Moments later, the nice man had my order ready. I thanked him. He gave me a hermetically sealed straw and we wished each other a good day. I drank my bubble tea as I slowly made my way north. It was so good! The strawberry lemon combination was yummy. The green tea was subtle, but so perfect with the fruit flavours. The nata jelly was amazing. Why can't we have that here?! I loved it! I am a fan. I will definitely return to get my bubble tea fix when I'm back in town. (118) read more

Best bubble tea around! I love it more than the Minneapolis location because the workers are always friendly and helpful as well as welcoming. Always greeting you with a smile! The bubble tea that I always get is Honey Oolong tea but I've also tried Taro and a couple others I can't remember off the top of my head. Today I got the honey oolong tea without milk and added bubbles/tapioca pearls (can't have my bubble tea without em!) And it is sooo delicious! It's already sweet with 70% sweetness (the normal amount). I think if I got it again, I would get 50%. But I still loved it..just trying to decrease my sugar intake (unsuccessfully I admit). Best thing about this location is that there is a parking lot! It's small and cramped but it's better than none at all! I also love the interior of this location. It's always clean, well-kept, and well-decorated. Even the exterior has character as it's located in an old house. Definitely coming back when I'm in Rochester next. read more

I have tried various Kung Fu Teas around the U.S. and parts of the world. Not a huge fan of bubble tea but definitely wanted to check out and support the business with the grand opening in Rochester. The owners of this place also owns Pho Chau next door so saw many familiar faces operating the back. The decor is nice, cozy, and more built out than other Kung Fu Teas. The ones in Minneapolis are a little cramped and act as more as a 'takeout' place than actual sit-down. The menu is fairly extensive and looks consistent. Currently there is a 'Buy One, Get One' deal as part of the grand opening. Ordered - Kung Fu Milk Tea with Bobas (4/5). Tasty but too much sugar (30% was recommended by staff). - Passion Fruit Green Tea with Bobas (3.5/5). It's nice this is now part of the Rochester community. It will be interesting to re-visit in a few months and see how it is doing. read more

I'm from LA so I have very high standards in terms of my boba/bubble tea!! When I searched for boba on Yelp and saw a Kung Fu Tea in Rochester, I was beyond ecstatic!!! I LOVE BOBAAA. I'm not going to lie but in the summers, I actually have one boba a day. That's how much I love my boba :) Since Kung Fu Tea is a famous chain and I've tried their boba in Los Angeles, I knew what to expect and knew exactly what to order. You seriously can't go wrong with anything at Kung Fu Tea - from their milk teas, green teas, shakes, slushies, etc. I even love their pudding toppings. My usual go to is the passion fruit green tea with boba and nata jelly, less sugar. This is my all time fave but their other drinks are really good and also worth a try! So as you know I recently went to a location in Illinois and loved it and I was SO happy to see KFT in Rochester! This is a cute location right outside of the busy Mayo Clinic/ downtown Rochester area. The menu, service, bathrooms and prices were all spot on and again wonderful selection and help from the staff. I love this chain and I only wish there was one even closer to where I lived. I had the guava punch with popping boba and a Thai milk tea ... yes 2! And I got a guava punch for my non boba loving family member and a sesame milk tea for another everyone was very happy and satisfied with their drinks. Everything tasted fresh and delicious and not with a lot of sugar. I'll be frequenting this location from now on. So happy to have it here! read more

Rochester's best milk tea house that's for sure! I've had Kung Fu in Boston before and went very impressed but we came here several times during our trip. Interesting many of the drinks are with non dairy creamer and that's probably why i find them for but not great. The taro smoothie was way too artificial and sweet for me but the other items were pretty good. They don't make their drinks with the best tea, dairy, or fruit but the bins is cooked well and it's a decent option for the area. read more

My #1 go-to boba place in Rochester! Kung Fu Tea is a great spot for tea- delish and staffed by wonderful people! I like that you can adjust sweetness for most drinks. My go-to is oolong milk tea, 30% sweet, less or no ice. They are generous with their toppings. Love their boba and pudding. Boba texture is consistently spot on for me. As an avid SoCal boba drinker, I am soo glad Kung Fu Tea is here in Rochester now when I come to visit. Trying to study or get some work done? It does have a few outlets and free, fast wifi. Just FYI, not complaining- the tables may be a little small for studying with two large laptops and additional materials but definitely great if you don't have much with you or are by yourself. The service has been great, as well, and I spend a good amount of time studying there so I've seen how nicely they often treat their customers. One of my favorite tea places in town. I like the ease of ordering and the cleanliness of the establishment. However, I started using the app to order ahead especially when it is busy and it hasn't made the experience any quicker. The stores procedure seems to be different from what you are told to do through the app. The app gives you a time your drink is supposed to be ready to pick up by so it seems like a nice work around when it is busy, but the store wants you to check in so you basically have to wait in line anyways. The app also puts the time to an hour ahead so it's in Eastern time instead of Central. I hope that eventually there is a more efficient way to check in if that is what is expected from the guest with mobile ordering. Also, a sign would be helpful to post telling mobile order paterons to check in their orders. The first time I placed an order through the app I had to sit 10 minutes past the alleged time that it was supposed to be ready because I didn't know that I was supposed to inform them I was there- because as stated, the app tells you there is no need and that you can just hang out by the pick up station. read more

I have been to Kung-Fu tea in other states and to this location twice prior to this day, and hadn't had any significant issues. And I usually always get the same drink. However, this time I was really disappointed in the service. I ordered a taro milk tea (no boba and less ice) like always, and right off I noticed that the color was different. It looked like a plain black milk tea and It didn't taste like there was any taro at all. I let them know that i was a little concerned that it tasted different from usual and not like taro. The lady then proceeded to scold me and deny it (she clearly made it wrong and was gearing up for an argument). It was a very uncomfortable situation and I didn't want it to turn into a conflict, so we just left. I feel that was very poorly handled. Rather than losing a frequent customer, they could have offered to remake it into the drink that was paid for. On a side note, they also have a history of getting orders wrong and scolding you to not forget next time when you clearly repeated it twice. All in all, very poor customer service. read more

I had been to a Kung Fu Tea in the Cities and was excited to learn Rochester would also be getting one too. I have been having some medical issues and wasn't able to have milk, so to know they use non-dairy milk was exciting! Craving boba this week, I tried both Kung Fu Tea and the other boba place in Rochester in the space of two days - which was great so that I could compare them. Kung Fu Tea had better pearls but was very sweet even at 50% sweetness for the Taro milk tea and I had to dilute it when I got home. Next time I would try 25% sweetness for the milk teas but otherwise I will definitely go back. read more

This place is great! Their bubble tea is amazing. I love the signature "kung fu milk tea", it's basically a black tea with milk and tapioca bubbles. But the tea is so good! Great flavor, with a hint of herby... it's great. You can choose the level of sweetness, and how much ice you want in it (get it without ice so you get more tea;-). About the same price as Starbucks, and so much better if you like tea. Their menu is huge, too: teas, slushies, coffees, liquid yogurt... Apparently it's a franchise, I'm happy they brought it to Rochester. read more

This Kung Fu tea is a godsend in the community. My partner and I had a regular black milk tea (with double bubble) and the milk green tea (with bubbles and grass jelly). Took my daughter here today and we both had an avocado smoothie - they are AMAZING! Real avocado blended in and there are also big chunks in there for texture. This was a very fun experience! I had never had bubble tea before! Very refreshing and can pass for a small meal as a smoothie does. The owners were very friendly and cheerfully answered every question about the drinks. Establishment sparkling clean and just the right amount of atmosphere for a drink break. first of all, the location is really cute. it's in what looks like an old house and it's gorgeously decorated. we got there RIGHT before the rush of customers and it was obvious that the employees (looked like it was a family run business) were a bit frazzled. they forgot the boba in one of the teas, but they fixed it immediately and weren't rude at all. so all in all, i was very pleased with the service, but boba really isn't my thing and this made me realize that i don't really want to get it again. read more

Love this place. Chau steps up and hits a home run here once again. Before opening up this branch of Kung Fu Tea (yes, this is part of a chain), Chau ran a restaurant called Pho Chau and her business was running very well. We are happy for her as this business is less stressful for her...she certainly deserves this. Why? Exceptional customer service. She greets customers by name as she did when she ran the restaurant. It is very clear that she pays great attention to detail to preserve the quality of the drinks on a consistent basis. We visited the Kung Fu Tea in Minneapolis and it wasn't as good as this branch. read more
