Kunis stored our 1925 restored Steinway M for several months during which we had a big (and messy) home renovation done. People should know that Kunis is a top-of-the-line piano mover and storer. Their facilities are climate-controlled; to my astonishment, the piano came back after several months still somewhat in tune--something that testifies to the environmental controls in their facility. The movers handled the instrument with great facility (and great gentleness) in getting it to its new location in the home. And they were both cautious and efficient in returning and setting it up. The Kunis organization is staffed with people who clearly know, love, and venerate pianos, and we're particularly grateful for what they offered in taking care of it for several months while construction went on. I would unhesitatingly book them again and recommend them to people who need their instruments stored and cared for by pros who are so committed to these instruments. (And their storage/moving rates are delightfully modest.). It came back far less out of tune than I'd expected, which tells me that their storage facility's temperature and humidity are well calibrated. Thank you to the crews who moved it and the staff who housed it. This was one of the most unprofessional companies I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. When I booked this service, it was contingent upon proper Covid precautions being taken. After showing up nearly two hours late on 10/19/20 without the courtesy of a phone call, they began to move the piano into our home without wearing face masks. I reminded the movers that in our emailed scheduling communication on 9/22/20, that I wrote the following: "I'm currently pregnant and need to be extremely cautious while the movers are here due to the pandemic. My husband and I will be wearing masks, and we need anyone entering our home to do so as well. We will have disposable ones on hand if needed! Please let me know if that will be an issue!" They replied back via email affirming that it was NOT an issue, and confirmed that they would be wearing masks while delivering the piano. When the move began, I asked them to put face masks on and they claimed that they're not required to do so while engaging in physical labor. Physical labor is ALL THE MORE REASON to wear a face mask in the first place. The CDC website cites in its guidance regarding "How Covid Spreads" that a risk factor includes "poorly ventilated and enclosed spaces that often involved activities that caused heavier breathing, like singing or exercise. Such environments and activities may contribute to the buildup of virus-carrying particles." Only after involving my husband, did they finally comply with my request to...you know, not infect a pregnant lady with a deadly airborne virus. I'll be laboring and pushing out a child wearing one in a couple months, but apparently moving a piano up a flight of stairs for 10 minutes is harder than that. Furthermore, we've been purchasing furniture for a nursery during this time, and not one single delivery person who has entered our home has had an issue wearing a mask while carrying heavy furniture up MANY more stairs than these guys did. If you're a fellow entitled, inconsiderate, science-shunning, anti-masker and not concerned about Covid but ARE concerned about the condition of your home, you should also know that they marred the walls of our stairwell in blue marks from the tarps they used, and scuffed our hardwood floors with their dolly without cleaning up after themselves. For an $800+ service, I expected significantly more professionalism, safety, and common courtesy. read more

Mike was very careful in moving the piano and gave clear instructions to team as they were moving piano out of the house and as well when moving into other house. I was referred to this fine compay by a piano tuner who said they were the "best" piano movers in Bergen County. So I called them and after describing the piano I wanted to move within my house, from my living room, 4 steps down into my family room they called me with a price which I thought was very reasonable. So I scheduled the work, and they came this past Tuesday 9/3/13. They took care of the move in less than 30 minutes. I asked for the bill so I could write the check out, and guess what; they took $50 off because it took less time then they figured. This is a very honest company run by 2 generations of family menbers. I would use them again without question. What a pleasure to deal with honest and forthright business owners! Unfortunately, I had a very different, negative experience with this company. I, too, had heard/read great reviews about them (both online, albeit limited, as well as from other piano tuners/repairers). After 2 scheduled appointments that ended up being unsuccessful, my final interaction with the company was the worst of the experience (see below), and alone is the main reason why, after everything that happened, I would NOT do business with them no matter how great of a job they would have been able to do with actually moving my piano--the utterly unprofessional manner in which they treated me over the phone after 2 failed scheduled attempts to try to move my piano was completely unacceptable for any business. On the re-scheduled date, after my sister told me that a mover would call me to follow up with how they tried to move it but it was "impossible to get the piano out of the current room," and calling them back and leaving a message after almost 2 hours of waiting for their call that never came, one of the owners, Dave, finally called me back. * Off the bat, he had a very unpleasant tone, already annoyed at my call. * After I explained my concerns (e.g., this being the 2nd/rescheduled appointment and my piano still not moved; not making the scheduled time of the appointment and not having been contacted when they were not at the house even after 30+ minutes after the appointment), he completely did not address my concerns, but on top of that, not only did he not apologize, but actually made arguments as if they were all legitimate. * Example #1: When I had re-iterated that I did not want them to start the job without me being there (because not only did I want to be present to oversee the move, but I didn't want this job/them to disturb my sister and her newborn baby), instead of taking some accountability or even just saying nothing, he actually said in an inappropriate tone, "Well, your sister didn't seem so disturbed when we were there." I responded that obviously she was trying to be polite in front of their faces (as she even told me that the mover was disturbing her, as she was feeding her baby, and was a jerk/a--hole). I felt like his response was such an immature one to give to a customer, like he had no filter and didn't care about his interactions with me or any professionalism, and only cared about defending himself/his company's actions and to "win this argument." * Example #2: When I was telling him the various things I had experienced with his company up to this point, including how they had never called me first when they were either late or something was holding them up (again, I was not expecting them to call me if they were going to be 5 or 10 minutes late, and I would have understood if something happened and kept them later, but just expected some contact after more than half an hour/an hour had passed from the scheduled appointment with no contact), and how even this time, they said they would call me after they left my sister's house, but after almost 1.75 hrs of not hearing from them and 20+ minutes after I had to call and leave a message for them to call me back, his response was, "I'M CALLING YOU BACK NOW ...I DON'T SIT AROUND ALL DAY MAKING PHONE CALLS WITH MY FEET UP... I MOVE 6 - 8 PIANOS A DAY ..." Again, this is something you can think in your head and hold back, but a business owner or employee really needs to use a filter/be more mature/not actually say out loud to a customer or at least use some finesse and phrase/say it in a more professional manner. * I was so appalled by Dave's interactions and arguing with me (literally, he was so agitated and was obviously saying unprofessional things and using an inappropriate tone), that by the end of the phone call, he basically was more or less asking me what I wanted him to do, etc. I just told him that I'm not saying all this because I want them to do the job anymore or cut me a better price; I told him I was just trying to express my concerns because he, as a business person and owner, SHOULD care how their company handles their services, and for him to understand that I was a customer providing him with feedback regarding my poor experience with them. I told him that I was not trying to reschedule this move by any means at this point but just wanted him to get this feedback and take some accountability for their company and his lack of professionalism, and that the way he interacted with me/a customer was really unacceptable. It was clearly evident that he was unable to accept any feedback suggesting criticism to him or any issues related to his company, solely based on his responses back to me alone. After that, I went with another company, who actually was able to get the piano out of that room that was supposedly "impossible" to do (again, I was present to direct the move to maneuver the piano out of the doorway the same way the original movers were able to do so). read more
