I wanted the rest of my belongings back, plus to be compensated for the stuff he stole from me. My ex also co-signed on my car right before I left him, then refused for 4 months to sign papers and allow me to trade the car in, so he could continue stalking me. I had to take him back to court twice to get a judge to force him to cooperate. I sent Kannin several emails regarding the stuff I was still missing after I moved out. In my emails to Kannin I asked for confidentiality with my number that I had to change because of his client. Kannin filed my phone number into public record giving my abuser access to my private information!! Not only that, according to a police report filed by my ex 2 weeks after I was granted the DVPO, this attorney instructed my ex to make a police report accusing ME of stealing from HIM. My ex filed the false police report that I stole my own safe and my own belongings when I moved out and he lied to the police officer and said the items belonged to his daughter trying to get me in trouble with felony charges. My ex knew this was all lies. The officer called his bluff and said I would likely be charged with a felony so my ex backtracked and said he needed to consult with Kannin. He never called the officer back, and when I spoke to the officer he said my ex's story didn't even add up. All this is public record. False reporting is called illegal. It's against the law. Not only did he lie on this false report, I have text messages where he was trying to buy the jewelry back he accused me of stealing. UPDATE Quote from police report: " RP's attorney advised he file a police report in order for them to sue civilly/serve papers (which doesn't really make sense)." WHAT JOHN?!?! Sue me for my own belongings??? I don't think so. Too bad I sued your client and won. John Kannin claimed he sent me this letter which he did not, he only filed it with the court and told the judge he had send it to me. The judge said "I can see they are gaslighting you", about my ex and Kannin. He had no records of emailing or mailing me this letter. He couldn't provide any records because it wasn't true. John Kannin has full access to all court records. Why is he telling me to do HIS job and send him proof of service, and a copy of the motion I filed. He could have looked up my protection order . My ex wasted money on Kannin who basically did no work other than write me stupid letters or nonsense! My ex is the one who has used the judicial system as a weapon. It's called abusive litigation. He filed 3 protection orders against me and they were all dismissed. We have been to court 6 times so far BECAUSE OF MY EX'S behavior. John needs to learn the definition of defamation. I have never said anything about my ex that isn't true and couldn't be verified by police reports or court documents. Kannin claims I made false claims for property! Then why did I win my small claims case against his client! That's 3 judges that didn't believe my ex. He stole my belongings and the judge found in my favor. My ex continues to lie and say I took jewelry he gifted to me 6 years ago in retaliation. Never met anyone so clueless. Good luck. I documented everything.
