Great service, helpful staff, it's not like home depot it's more of a help your self kind of place. You can walk around and see what they have and get a cart. There won't be many ppl walking around to help you etc it's more of a shop at your own pace. It's geared more towards professionals. If it's too big to pickup etc you can tell them what it is or take a pic of the tag and go to the office etc. read more

I am ecstatic I found this place. I called Kurtz Brothers yesterday to see how long it takes to get yard products delivered and was told a lot of times they can do same day or next day delivery of mulch, topsoil, or gravel. I ended up ordering 8 tons of gravel through their website without having to go to their store and it was delivered in less than 24 hours. Their website has a calculator to tell you exactly how much you need for your job, which made ordering a breeze. They called the day I ordered gravel to confirm the delivery. They called the morning of delivery with a 20 minute time window of when the dump truck would arrive. They came on time and dropped the load exactly where I needed it. I cannot express how easy the ordering process and delivery was. Will be ordering any yard or landscaping items from them in the future. Prices are fair as well. read more

We found this place on yelp and since the reviews were 'meh' we thought we would try it. The layout and selection of this place was decent (that's the only reason it got 2 stars instead of one!) but other than that, it's pretty horrible. There are absolutely no signs that show you which plants are in which section. Trees are placed all over, perennials mixed with annuals. It's a hot mess. So then, in confusion if you look around for someone to ask, there will be no one. While checking out, there is an outdoor or indoor check out area. Four of us with big plants were continually ignored at the outside checkout by the one employee inside. The lady in front of me was offered a 25% discount for her wait but the rest of us waiting there got no discount. While I was waiting, a lady was trying to ask for help on where perennials would be located and she said told by the lady inside 'well there are only three of us here so I don't know what to tell you. I guess we will get out there if we can.' The place was not super busy at all. I was so sad to see that lady treated that way. I don't think I'll ever come back here. It wasn't welcoming, it was confusing to try to shop and they couldn't manage their business. read more

Like, my guys, I know I'm not a commercial landscaper so I was never going to spend thousands at this place but I've been here a few times and they have been almost aggressively indifferent to my existence every time. Not once has anyone ever tried to speak to me, which made it difficult to get any questions answered. In fact, I'm not 100% sure that anyone actually works here. I know Scioto Gardens is like way the hell out there in Delaware County but they're friendly and knowledgeable and they actually have employees, none of which I can conclusively say about Kurtz. read more

Ordered $650 worth of "loamy topsoil" delivered from them, and when it showed up it was just heavy clay with a small amount of organic material mixed in. Sales manager unwilling to replace or refund. Beware, the descriptions don't match the product! Lots of other more reputable companies in town with better product, don't waste your time or money. read more

Good selection, easy to find location. I went here to use a living social deal. The plants did seem more expensive than what you find at Home Depot, but that seems expected to me. The staff was very helpful, and it was really nice that things were arranged by type. Lots of tree too, and huge ones at that. I think I'll be back in the fall when tree planting season is among us! read more

If you are a residential consumer with your own pick up truck, that you don't mind getting dirty, Kurtz Brothers has a wonderful compost/mulch blend called Comtil. The slight odor keeps the deer away...for a while. The nutrients make by plants go crazy! Looks black and hardly ever see a clump that needs broken down. We get 1 cubic yard per trip, a total of 4 trips, and our yard looks fantastic! $36x4...can't beat that! read more

They may have mulch, but this company blatantly and repeatedly runs heavy equipment within yards of people's homes all night long. And I mean all night. They have been told not to operate this machinery late at night but don't seem to care that they are making people sick from headaches and lack of sleep. At this very moment, a bulldozer-looking machine can be heard and seen within yards of my bedroom window. It's horrible and I'm sure in violation of noise ordinance, but they don't care. read more

My name is Joe Bucci owner and president of landscape maintenance and Design, one of the longest-running landscape companies in central Ohio since 1975, I normally don't leave reviews on anything but I felt I needed to do it today, I have ordered mulch through everyone who sells mulch and for the last 10 years the only people I go to is Kurtz Brothers, they have really great mulch, I use the Ever black and their people are great and will bend over backwards for you, Especially Tammy that I normally deal with also I don't want to forget about Jeff, they're both awesome and I hope they never quit working there because they make my job so much easier unlike some of the other places, Especially Ohio Mulch which is a nightmare to deal with and you never know if you're getting the right amount of mulch that you're paying for. read more

Details10/13/2016 It's literally driving into a strip mine in Alexandria. I needed driveway gravel in my midsized truck, but dodged dozens of commercial dump trucks and hauling vehicles. If you need a quick bed of anything in your personal truck, please avoid. The staff instructions were vague at the office trailer (you can't see the trailer from the highway and the signs requiring to go to it are are confusing). I was made to feel stupid when they had no good process or instructions in place. They said putting a tarp in the bed of my truck outside the trailer office was against rules. Additionally, my truck was covered in thick crap from the drive in and out that took me $15 at the car wash to clean up. I will drive farther for a more professional oriented outfit. read more

On the day of delivery, their Dispatcher called me to verify the delivery time and any special instructions, and their driver called in-route to verify where I wanted it dumped. They showed up at the time requested and the driver was professional and courteous. Best of all, the mulch is of high-quality. What could be better? read more

This company has ruined the neighborhood. High dust, pollution, so much stink you can smell it in your house with the windows closed. You cant sit outside anymore . I had heard some great things about the quality of the mulch at Kurtz Brothers and decided to give it a try. I ordered 6 cubic yards on a Friday and delivery was available the next day, which is very impressive.I was given a window of delivery of 7:30 - 8:00 am and the driver arrived promptly at 7:30. He was very polite too. I placed the initial order with Tammy and she was super friendly and very helpful. As for the mulch itself, I found the quality to be probably the best black mulch I had ever worked with. We ordereded their Amerimulch, which had very little odor and was light with limited moisture. It was processed very well with very limited stray materials (ie: very small pieces of plastic, etc). The pricing was on par with the competition and I felt we got a very fair and competitive deal.
