The Kush Gallery in Laguna Beach features the art work of Vladimir Kush, the artist who allegedly started a form of art called "metaphorical surrealism". We were greeted at the door by an associate named Lynn who was kings enough to let us know we were welcome to take pictures inside the gallery and there are QR codes beside the paintings that describe the stories behind each. There is also a second floor with souvenirs and smaller items for purchase. We had a nice time looking around and discussing the pieces, I'm looking forward to seeing what other art pieces will be shown in the future. read more

A beautiful gallery on Forest Ave in downtown Laguna Beach. You have probably walked by it many times and seen this gallery where you have the metal sculptures at the window display. It's a very nice and beautiful gallery that has two stories to it. I love the way the art pieces are set up inside. The theme is fantasy I believe with lots of literal meanings to many of his art. His work is vibrant and crisp. I personally love the metal sculptures and his creative ideas would animals and insects with objects. Incredible artist with an amazing imagination and talent. I enjoy many of his works in our home. Friends and family are impressed with Vladimir Kush's imagination and ability to translate his unique mind to fine pieces of art. We recently "surprise gifted" a Green Purse to our good friend. We were together in Laguna Beach, at the Kush Fine Art gallery there. My wife coordinated the "surprise gift" with staff Keri in Laguna Beach. Keri did an amazing job, and our good friend was happily shocked, and actually speechless. She has been eying it for a while now. Her husband discreetly confirmed her desire for this piece when they were visiting the Kush Fine Art gallery in Miami the week before. This is by far my favorite art gallery in DT Laguna Beach. The artist is truly creative and his artwork is sensual, smart, and thought provoking. As you walk through the gallery you start to notice little Easter eggs that carry through different paintings/sculptures. Kush fine art has the most fantastic sales person. She took the time to explain the metaphors in the artwork to my 9 year old son who became engrossed in her detailed descriptions. Whimsical, Fun, Professional, one of a kind unique works. This place is a true gem in the heart of Laguna Beach. I love going in to see what new and fanciful works there are. Like a cross between René Magritte and Dali Vladimir Kush creates other worldly art. The color palates are unique and draw you in. Definitely worth the stop. Hands down one of the most unique artists I've seen before. He is a painter and a sculptor. So you will see a wide range of mediums that he is able to successfully complete. His attention to detail is phenomenal! I highly recommend seeing this location! He is truly an artist who loves metaphors. I spent the longest time in this gallery. The art will blow your mind! Parking can be a challenge sometimes. If need be, Park a block away and walk in. They have a lot to do in this area. It's been years since I had an art experience like this. We lived in Laguna Beach and I knew most of the galleries. There's something spiritual, magical or even mystical about Kush's art. I especially love the sculptures inspired by the paintings. As a design psychology practitioner, I can't wait to combine the original art and the sculpture in a setting. This is not a review of Vladimir's art work, his art work is amazing to say the least. This is a review of the lack of service from the gallery employees. My boyfriend and I spent the day in Laguna looking around the different shops. We came across Kush Fine Art and decided to go in to take a look. Granted, I don't have 50K to drop on a piece but I can still be a fan and appreciate the art. As soon as we step in we come a across a menacing look from the heavy set older gentlemen in the suit working at the gallery. He gave us the "What are you doing in here? You are making this gallery look bad and I know you are not going to buy anything" look. No hello, no can I answer any questions, no nada except for following us around the store to make sure we didn't steal anything...as if. Giving us free dirty glances. There was also a woman with cake make up that gave us dirty glances that followed us around. My boyfriend was ready to lose it and tell them off but we decided to go into the Candy shop next door and calm down. It's very upsetting when the art work is beyond amazing but the representation is shit. Mr. Kush, if you are reading this, hire me, I will give better service to everyone. Even if people don't buy anything as an artist I would hope you would still want people to appreciate what you do but your representation/workers do not reflect that....they reflect something very bad and make you look like a Russian dude with a stick up your ass. OK, OK... we all think the art is cool! True. I'm not going to dispute that. But I'm here to review the gallery, not the art. I'm sure the employees that work here are accustomed to a certain clientele. Folks roll up in a Mercedes and have a big diamond ring on their finger and/or they're asking their assistant to get the sales girl's attention. Most people just drop in though, and they're Average Joe and Average Jane... and they aren't going to buy anything but they are intrigued by the art. That was me--and my wife--and our friend when we stopped by last weekend. Anyone else ever had issue with the sales people here (to use a phrase that the cool kids use) "throwin' shade" your way? It's like the lady was thinking, "Peasant, don't bother me with your questions--I know you're not going to buy that sculpture that looks like a purse but its really two people embracing each other. P-sshah!" The works of art are fascinating in this gallery. Maybe I caught the employees on a bad day. Maybe they are awful people. Maybe I really was going to buy that necklace that looked like a broken egg (WHAT COULD BE INSIDE?!?) Now I'm not... Kush's work is worthy to own. To be able to see his work in a dedicated art gallery for him says something very special about him..and his Laguna Beach location. 1. This guy is a total genius 2. His gallery works and its almost a reflection of him. I honestly don't think other work can be well displayed there, but if I were given an opportunity to design a special way to hang his work I have a few ideas. Super nice people inside... there is also work priced at all levels so you don't have to get the $45,000 artwork, you could just get some works for $50.00. Trust me.. its totally worth it. read more

I love this gallery! I could probably spend hours here. Came by today to buy Kush's Metaphorical Journey book as a gift. I was a bit intimidated to come after reading the other reviews on how rude the staff are, but surprisingly the lady who helped me this morning was very welcoming and helpful. Beautiful gallery. I gave four stars because they opened at 10am instead of 9am. I would have been upset if I showed up at 9 expecting the doors to be open. This place is spectacular! read more

My story coming to this gallery is a unique one. I first discovered his work when I was visiting Las Vegas. I was totally taken away by how lovely the art was. Being an artist myself in my free time, it even peaked my interest again to perhaps try and pursue getting my art out there more seriously. It just so happened that he was having an art show in Laguna, which I was headed towards after my vacation in Las Vegas. After I got off my plane I made a beeline there, with a hope that perhaps the artist could share some wisdom with how someone wishing to learn to achieve similar things could go forward. I listened to him talk about his new book and then it was open time to chat with the artist. I went up to him and complimented him on his art, trying to strike up a conversation. He ignored me and walked away. Ok, maybe he didn't hear or needed a little break from talking? I took some time to talk to his staff and the gallery director about what I was trying to learn, and they were very helpful and encouraging. The gallery director even gave me some contact information for his assistant so I could ask my questions to them in case I didn't get a chance to talk to the artist again. I waited around more, and at the encouragement of his staff, talked to him again because "he was in your shoes once, he's really kind and will help." He was cold and indifferent to me. He clearly didn't want to talk to me, and didn't really offer much advice besides "go get classical training." You could imagine, given my excitement to meeting him, how disappointing this was. I asked about lessons or if he did workshops/mentoring and he took one look at me (I was a student at the time, not dressed really fancy, just like a casual college kid) and laughed a little and said: "too expensive for you." I also later observed he was much more friendly to patrons of his show who had BOUGHT something too, which further soured me on the experience. Maybe I just caught him in a bad mood, but it didn't seem like he was a very nice person and it was all really a business to him. I felt hurt and disappointed by our meeting, especially as a student whose intention was to learn. Your experiences may vary. read more

The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I purchased the 2019 calendar and couldn't wait to hang it up because the images are so breathtaking. It's so relaxing to stroll through the Kush Gallery after a day in Laguna. I love the way they play with light here to really dramatize the pieces. The art is definitely surreal but analyzing them reveals a lot of messages about man's relationship with nature, so symbolic! Staff here are kind and are there to answer any questions too. read more

I love Kush's work, but this isn't really a venue for reviewing the art itself. The gallery is nice, the way they display the art is simple and effective. The people who work here are not pretentious in any way so I felt very comfortable. Sydney did a great job helping me pick out my first piece, as well as choosing a frame. When my newly framed piece arrived, there was tape on the frame so when I pulled it off, bits of the brown coloring came off with it. Sydney is sending a Fedex label so that I can ship it back and have it re-framed. Exemplary customer service. If you like metaphorical art, and are interested in investing, this is a great place to start! read more

I love this gallery. I have one of Kush's pieces and would like to purchase more. Kush himself visits a couple of times a year and has events for his clients. I also love the gallery in Lahaina. We recently purchased the DVD which I highly recommend for everyone who admires his work but can't afford it especially if you have an HD Big Screen TV. read more

Live about 10mins away, always see this place but decided to take a peek for the first time today. Larger gentleman sitting at his desk in a black suit gives that "oh god what are these people doing here look, they're not going to buy anything". Spent a few minutes taking a look at the art when I noticed everything was numbered, looked a little closer and they were clearly prints, not original art work. I asked the gentleman why everything was numbered, were they part of some kind of collection? He went on to explain that they are "limited edition" copies of an original oil painting that's scanned and printed on canvas. I asked where I could see any original works on display, he said they have some in the back but he couldn't show them to me (essentially he wasn't willing to show me because he didn't see me fit, or he was flat out lying). In a very condescending and hostile tone he explained that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the original and print anyway. That's hilarious, the prints were so obvious, nothing wrong with that but why lie about it? I'm a photographer that makes fine art canvas prints, I know what they look like! I mean come on, the canvas was completely smooth, absolutely no brush strokes, pretty hard to do with an oil painting, you could see the texture of the canvas like it was printed with an inkjet. Then I asked (as a serious question) if the works were digitally rendered or enhanced and he went on the say that would be impossible. He said Mr. Kush paints hundreds of layers and spends several years on each piece, "something that wouldn't be possible to do with a computer". What an insult to digital artists, has this guy ever heard of photoshop? His argument was, these works can't be digital because they have too many layers. LOLOLOL Seriously take your money else where, there's nothing "fine art" about this gallery. What a joke, Mr. Kush if you're reading this. I love your work but you need to RETRAIN YOUR STAFF, they're making your brand look bad. I'm not the first to have a bad experience at this gallery. read more

He gave us a grand tour of the gallery and was very passionate sharing with us about the work of Vladimir Kush. We "really" liked the Tree of Life etching, which is his latest project.
