As others have said we went with his suggestions and for both starters and mains were very happy with the choice. The main dishes were similarly flavourful and complex. The only fly in the ointment was the service. It took ages to get our order taken despite the fact that there were three members of staff stood chatting by the bar. Later when we wanted our empty plates collecting and order some sweet nobody was around at all. When eventually one member of staff did arrive there were many tables that all wanted servicing creating unacceptable delays. Overall it should have been a 4/5 star review, but the poor service has dragged it down, but the food was so good I'm going to be generous and still give it 4*. The Bombay Bay has it's own website and as you can see from the menu online the prices are excellent value for the quality of the food. The pictures are representative of just how nicely the meals are presented. I was surprised by the generously sized portions and very pleased as all the dishes I have tried have been delicious. The restaurant is very clean with a nice atmosphere and well placed tables and for those who smoke, and those who want to enjoy the view and a spot of fresh air there is also a balcony which is a nice bonus.

The chicken caldin is by far the greatest curry I have ever had; its creaminess is beautifully offset by the heat of several green chilies within the dish, making it the most perfectly balanced, flavourful curry I have ever had. Firstly, the decor: It is gaudy to say the least! The walls are pink and there are lights inside which change colour. Don't misunderstand, these are not subtle changes. I would not be exaggerating if I said she literally dropped the knives and forks down and then again, dropped the plates. She didn't place them anywhere in particular. We ordered popadums which were lovely. They come with the obligatory three sauces: mint yoghurt, chutney and something super spicy. Yum! Around 30 minutes later, I had to ask a waiter if we could place an order for our main course. The same waitress shuffled over and mumbled at us. We placed our order, not really having great expectations. Thirdly, the food: I ordered a Lamb Tikka - this is dry as the Masala part is the sauce. I was extremely pleasently surprised. The meat was cooked to perfection, no lie. We had sag aloo as well, along with pilau rice, a naan bread and onion baaji. The food was not greasy at all, it was wonderful. I haven't had such a good curry for a very long while. Finally, another waiter came to our table to clear away and gave us his life story how his girlfriend (to whom he referred as 'he') had dumped him and he was heartbroken. He was pretty much in tears as he told us. He went away and came back to continue the saga as one of my friends played with her phone and the other one yawned dramatically. I was stuck listening to him!! He didn't get an extra tip for pouring his heart out, I can tell you. Anyway, the service is distinctly lacking, but perhaps I just went on a bad night. I've heard others who've said they had a great time all round. This is why I gave it 3 stars. I would have given it more, however. I would recommend this place and hope you get a better service than I did!!
