His familiarity with the Poipu area led us to Maha'ulepu Beach at twilight, which provided a great venue. We liked the way he approached the session: some suggestions, and then let us be ourselves. As a result, the photos captured moments rather than just images. We are really happy with Paul's work, and highly recommend him! Through her photos, Melanie captured the heart-felt emotions of us getting ready, seeing each other for the first time, walking down the aisle, participating in the ceremony, and rocking the reception celebration. Do yourselves a favor: stop opening tabs and tabs of photographers (we all do it) and spend time on Lilly's site getting to know her work. We were particularly drawn to her photojournalistic, candid, raw, magical style. In the interest of time, here are our top 3 reasons for why Lilly was the right choice for us: - Quality of product: Our jaws fell to the floor when we saw our engagement photos. She captured the funny moments, the romantic moments, and above all, our personalities. I don't know how she does it, but she knocked it out of the park. We did our session at a location she'd never been to, and where I spent every day of my childhood. She was still able to capture everything perfectly, like she'd known the place for years. - Transparency: her pricing is very straight forward, extremely fair, and her response time is quick. Michele has done amazing photography for some of my friends, so when my boyfriend and I decided we wanted some 'grown-up' photos of ourselves.. you know, photos absent of beer bottles and random people in the background... we knew we had to ask Michele! Maybe this is just me... but having someone take photos of you is super awkward, even if they are a close friend, but Michele was able to put us at ease and had us laughing from the start. She was even able to wrangle our small dog into posing for the camera! By the end of the day we felt completely comfortable, and it really came across in our photos. Michele clearly has an amazing talent and can make any spot in the city look whimsical and completely unique. While Crissy Field might be one of the most cliche photo spots in the city, it has a lot of meaning to my boyfriend and me and we knew we wanted some of our photos done there. Michele did a great job of capturing the essence of Crissy field (beachy, casual, relaxing) while making it feel like we were in our own world. She also found some photo spots less than a block from our front door that we had never noticed before! I hopefully have a wedding in my future (hear that, boyfriend?) and I will not hesitate to call Michele the day of my engagement and snap her up for my big day!
