Simone was our wedding photographer at San Francisco City Hall. We absolutely adored sharing our day with her and ultimately how our photos turned out. Leading up to our wedding day she was very communicative and laid out a clear plan of when we would meet at City Hall, as well as where we would take our photos around the city. She was open to our ideas and flexible in building the optimal photo shoot for the time we had. On the day of the wedding everything went smoothly. Simone was great with us as well as our friends and family, corralling us and ensuring that she captured emotional and authentic moments. On a side note, because she is so familiar with city hall she was able to give us tips of what to request for our ceremony and get the most out of our time in the government building. Simone photographed my wedding beautifully. When I was first looking for wedding photographers, I wanted someone who could capture people looking natural as well as highlight the venue surroundings. My wedding was along the ocean cliffside of northern california so I wanted someone who could highlight the gorgeous backdrop and was comfortable photographing nature. As soon as I saw Simone's portfolio and the diverse venues that she has worked at, I knew that she was the one! From our first meeting, I felt completely comfortable with Simone. Simone shot our wedding two months ago. She did a fantastic job and was a joy to have as a resource during the wedding planning period! I wish I could give a million stars! Simone photographed our engagement and wedding and was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We wanted the perfect wedding and the perfect photographer to capture all of it for us. After looking at many online portfolios, we saw Simone's and immediately felt that we had found our photographer. Our feelings were confirmed during our in-person meeting with her. Not only does Simone have a beautiful photographic style that we love and a warm and cheerful personality, she also really knows weddings inside and out. She asked us questions that helped us think about all the aspects of planning our wedding. Although our ceremony was more than six months away, we decided right then to sign our contract with her. The next few months we had many email exchanges that were all very helpful. Simone was really on top of things, proactively asking us about our big day rather than the other way around. We talked about our wedding time line, the major photo sets we'd like, which relatives and friends should have photos taken together, and similar details. Before we knew it, our wedding day was upon us. Our big day started off with tension because, despite my best preparations, I encountered unexpected makeup and traffic delays. When I finally arrived at the venue, Simone was already there and ready to take our photos. Despite having less time than we originally planned, she expertly managed the time and took plenty of fantastic portraits in a nearby botanical garden. It was amazing how quickly our tensions melted away under her direction as she guided us from one pose to the next. We felt relaxed and trusted her completely, and it was a wonderful experience. Simone was really hands-on and wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty. For example, for our large group photo with all our guests, we were short a number of chairs. Rather than asking others to help, Simone started carrying chairs in both arms and others eventually followed her example. With a big warm smile, she then cheered all of our guests and their kids before taking the photos. Every time I look at these group photos, I feel grateful for having her there to capture the moment. We felt blessed to have had such a wonderful wedding and we were off on our honeymoon two weeks later. Based on our friends and families' prior experiences, we had a pretty good idea of how long it typically takes for photo delivery. So, we were very pleasantly surprised when we got an email from Simone that our photos were ready for viewing online! It was great to be able to enjoy them so soon, and during our honeymoon too! We booked Simone for a family photo shoot. 2 adults and a super jet-lagged grumpy 8 month old baby! She was super accommodating with the time and location, and had a lot of great suggestions. We wanted an outdoor location and she had lots of places to choose from, all of which were convenient to where we were staying. She also suggested we bring a blanket, snacks, etc - which came in useful during our shoot. We were visiting family in SF (we live in Shanghai) and she offered to mail our CD internationally to Shanghai. I was a little suspicious about all the positive reviews on Yelp (can't help being a pessimist), but am happy to report that she was easy going, flexible and the photos turned out beautifully. She was really patient and we never felt rushed or awkward. She had a lot of suggestions for helping us "pose", which I think were just designed to help us relax so she could capture the moments. She told us when she thought she had enough good shots and we trusted her judgement. One thing that I really liked was she took individual photos of my husband and I, which never occurred to me to take bc it seems so cheesy - and who needs individual portraits? We were just focused on taking some family photos. They turned out really nice and guess what - individual portraits are actually more useful than I thought! No more cropping out all the other heads to get a good photo of yourself! She's also just a super sweet person. She called us before the scheduled shoot to make sure we had directions...and like an idiot, I thought we could find the place. I had to call her back 10 minutes later, lost in the hills, hahah! After doing HOURS of research online for a photographer to take my graduation photos, I stumbled upon Simone's blog and fell in love with her photography style. I knew I wanted my photos to look natural, not super photoshopped-- and Simone's gift of working with natural light made my photos (and me!) look phenomenal. I seriously could not have been more thrilled with the results and I'm a very critical person! For graduation/senior photos, the session runs about 45 minutes-ish for photos in one outfit + cap&gown. However, what separates Simone from other photographers is how accommodating she is to your individual needs. We communicated over e-mail about which locations on UC Berkeley campus I wanted to have my photos taken, and she generously worked past our 45-minute session so that we could hit each spot. Additionally, she is extremely professional and had my photos ready for viewing/sharing within two days of our session. She even offers a 50% off deal for prints if you order within 3 days! Most importantly, Simone is extremely genuine and easy to talk to. She helped me feel comfortable in front of the camera, so I was actually laughing in my "laughing photos" because I was having so much fun! Simone shot our wedding in the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens and the reception afterwards, and I couldn't have asked for a better photographer. Not only did the photos come out wonderfully, she was also extremely helpful throughout the day. Your wedding is a wonderful experience but it can also be full of stress, and Simone's warmth and enthusiasm cuts through that like a knife through butter. In addition, Simone was very willing to work with us on things like licensing for our photos (we wanted to have them available under a Creative Commons license). Simone is the best. Seriously, if you're unsure of who to hire, hire Simone. My fiance and I hired Simone to take our engagement pictures. The entire session was filled with joy and laughter as she's just so much fun to be around. I had hired Simone back when we were in college (!) to do my graduation pictures with friends so already knew to expect a great time and session. And yet, she exceeded all my expectations. Simone saved the day and my boyfriends birthday gift!!! I could not have been happier with the results and the experience during the shoot. We had some time to talk prior to the photoshoot and she is just the sweetest most down to earth girl! Simone did my photos for my college graduation and they turned out beautiful! She was flexible with the location and dates due to bad weather, and made sure we were getting the photos that I wanted.
