Go there and wait in line endlessly only to be told that they don't have the prescription or it is not ready and could I come back 30 minutes later or even another day. I live in a different town and this is unacceptable. So, I have learned that I must call ahead to verify it is ready. But then the phone is endless waiting and many times then call is disconnected. The pharmacy is chaos. Completely disorganized and a mess behind the counter. I have never had such horrible customer service as at this place. Either the pharmacist is incompetent or they are so understaffed that they cannot deal with the workload. I called corporate and voiced my concern today. Sincerely doubt anything will be done as this situation has been the same here for years. If I could find a relatively close pharmacy which is on my insurance provider list, I would switch in a heartbeat.

The bathrooms were clean, which is pretty essential to making a place a reliable road trip spot in my book. Prices were a little high, but not out of the ordinary for a gas station convenience store off the interstate. There's a Wendy's attached if you're interested in hot food that doesn't come off a roller. I stood at the counter for a solid three minutes while the two women working chatted with each other and tried to resolve a beeping noise; when I finally was acknowledged and allowed to check out interaction was very disinterested. There was a customer/friend who had been talking with the workers when I entered, and who resumed after I walked away. The employees were plenty nice to him so it was a bit of a bummer not to have that friendliness extended as a stranger. When I do stop in Mauston it's almost always been at the Kwik Trip with the upturned semi; I think for me it's worth the extra distance off the highway to stick with them.

The employee working at the register (I later learned her name was Velma) asked me what I needed while she was focused on an electronic device and did not make eye contact. I answered that I needed diesel, but her tone became noticeably irritated while asking for the required information to process the fuel purchase. After completing the transaction, she said, "Okay, you're out of here," which came across as disrespectful and unprofessional. Right after that, while I was walking toward the restroom, I overheard her talking about me with the next customer in line, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. I also noticed another interaction that I found unprofessional. While speaking with the same employee who helped me get her name, she repeatedly said loudly, "I really need to go home. I want to go home. I have to go home." I understand that employees can have difficult days and may feel tired, but saying this loudly in front of customers created an uncomfortable atmosphere. I went to get a cup of ice, but they were out of ice. I also tried to get the employee's name, but she did not have a badge displaying her name. I asked her for a receipt so I could get her name from the receipt, but at the bottom of the receipt, the system displayed information that appeared to be an error. The receipt I was given was also not the correct one for my transaction. I then asked another employee for her name so I could write this review. I normally expect a professional and respectful interaction at a major travel center like Pilot. I hope management can address this situation and remind employees about the importance of customer service, communication, and professionalism.

The prices of bear, reasonable. Everything else, a little high, but not unexpected. There isn't much else in the area. The staff was friendly and the food smelled good. Only one complaint while there. We got a full wheel barrel of firewood, out friends got a half wheel barrel. We both got the same amount of wood. I don't know if we got short changed, or or friends got a bonus.

The second, by the direction I was traveling at the time was too dumpy to consider even slowing down for, the one after that was similarly dismal by exterior appearances. Finally as I was done with my work in town I was heading out, and had to get a road soda and use the facilities. They were dire, at best. Getting an energy drink was the best option since the coffee station was lacking, and it was filthy anyway. An empty store, dirty floors, coffee and the hot foods were unstocked. The lazy clown was busy with social media and having a swearing contest with a trashy woman who was pissing about some injustice she'd been through. I wish I'd have driven a couple miles further and gone to the first store at the northern most end of this town. Today I was back in this area where, for another small electrical troubleshooting job, and I did stop at the nicest KT. Maybe later I'll think to write about its far superior management and perhaps even the ownership is corporate run, because I can't imagine the other three were. They have to be private franchises that have little adherence to their parent company's policies

The deli case on the left looked appetizing when we walked in, and the tight aisles are packed with Polish products, including beer. I didn't have a ton of time to poke around because we were on our way to the flea market, but if you have a few minutes be sure to stop and peruse the unexpected finds.

The produce they have might be limited but it's always top-notch! Liquor aisle is very good as are the baked goods they carry. It all started when the three year old child of my friends asked me about the "Chuck Store" Moi: "What is a 'Truck Store'?" Kid: "CHUCK, it is the bestest store ever in the whole world with candy!" Moi: "Do they have a toothbrush? He forgot to pack a toothbrush..." Kid: "Duh. They have EVERYTHING, and candy too." Indeed. Naturally, I had to see this marvel. And the kid tells no lies- this is part gas station, part old-timey general store, part hardware store, gardening center, liquor store, candy emporium and drugstore- that is a whole lotta hats, but the lady working the counter was clearly a pro able to direct me to candy and toothbrushes with ease. For the kid, a combo of monster truck toy car and lolly pop that took two days of effort to eat ($1.29, pictured with all it's awesome glory). That car is miraculously still intact. Have you played with a three year old? I'm surprised I am intact, kid is relentless and makes my hyperactive energy look tame. Awesome. For me to keep up, a Starbucks double shot chugged at light-speed and the priceless shot of Lady Monkeybutt- which I cannot believe is a real product and had me laughing hysterically as much as the three year old. Maybe more. I didn't know places like this existed anymore, but am glad they do.
