They serve a big Scottish breakfast with local, quality foods. Angus and ET were very friendly and helpful. Angus made several suggestions for places for us to explore and hike. We found them (thanks to his maps and good directions) the places he suggested were beautiful. I'd be happy to go back to Scourie Lodge.

The saving grace was the breakfast and the hospitality both when we arrived and in the morning at breakfast. Nothing to cheer about and would not rush back!

A very friendly couple/owners checked us in with a welcoming glass of a very tasty whiskey or sherry. All of our rooms faced the Loch, what a view. The hotel is a smaller but so up to date and freshly decorated and painted and you could tell the owners took pride in their hotel. It was close to town, a very short walk and you are on the sea front. Breakfast in the morning was just as great, everything you needed and nothing you dont. The food was great and the service just as good.There was no shortage of anything. If I was coming back to Ullapool there would be no other choice.

I had a very tasty salmon salad, a soup rather classic but good and excellent French fries - nicely served in a metal pot (like the ones you use for plants). The price for the lot was under £13. The place is separated in 2 spaces : one room which look like more a "real" restaurant room, and the other one which is smaller and cosier, with a bar and a chimney. We had our lunch in this one. We could sat by the window and the view on Ullapool bay was beautiful. I would definitely recommend that place for a nice and cheap lunch in a cosy place.

Although we both got too hot through the night with the heavy blanket. Had the window open the second night which was fine. Room had facilities for tea/coffee etc & even some cookies. Tiny tv. Free wifi in the room which was much appreciated by us. Big bathroom with a shower over bath. Breakfast was great. Option for smoked salmon & scrambled eggs or cooked breakfast. You can also have porridge if you like. There is yoghurt, fruit, juice and cereal if you prefer something lighter in the mornings. Portions are generous so you'll set off with a full belly! Would def stay here again!

My room was not ensuite, but I had a private bathroom just down the hall, which was equally as clean and well-stocked as the room itself. Also, the room had its own sink, which I was grateful for. We arrived, on a overcast September day looking forward to hunkering down for the afternoon. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and after we were shown to our room were served with complimentary tea and cake in the hotel's conservatory. It was just what we were after and the cake was delicious which boded well for our meal at the hotel's Michelin starred restaurant (our primary reason for the visit) later. Non-residents can dine here too but it is much more pleasant to be able to stagger off to bed rather than mess around with taxis etc. Our room was perfectly pleasant and clean but not the reason to visit. That was to come at dinner. We assembled in the conservatory for pre-dinner drinks and the set-menu was explained to us. Dietary requirements had been taken when we arrived so there were no unpleasant surprises waiting for us. Then followed a huge single langoustine as a pre-dinner snack. It was exceptionally good, tasting as if it had been farmed the same day. The dinner was similarly successful with the stand out dish being a beautifully roasted piece of roe deer with candied beetroot among the accompaniments. The following morning we were treated to a beautifully cooked Scottish breakfast before heading out into the hills and repeating the same experience all over again until our stay came to an end.

The rooms were really clean, spacious and nice, with a double bed, a table and two chairs and a small kitchen if someone wants to prepare their own food. However, I would recommend trying what the motel/inn can offer, too: their venison was absolutely fantastic. There is also a bar with pool, darts and different board games for a fun evening - you will need to find something interesting to do anyway, as there is no internet at times, and even the cell phone signal is really unreliable. However, I think that is absolutely normal at that part of the world.

The rooms are very tastefully decorated - just beautiful. I love the bathroom fittings! Oh, there is one thing that has changed for the worse. You can't have dinner here any more. What a pity. It was as great as the extraordinary breakfast. The Durness region is very remote with spectacular countryside and white beaches.
