It was also a five minute walk down a side street to the beautiful Wenceslas square. The place doesn't seem like much, it is dated and the hallways are almost laughable. However, the big room, king size bed, rooftop bar, free buffet breakfast, really make this place. You can also exchange currency here which was a big plus since we went overboard boozing every night. My only fault on it was their bizarre shower. The tub is ridiculously high and difficult to get into, I can't image how someone with mobility issues gets in.

Go there after dark for a special night view of the city from the 7th floor. You can borrow a pair of binoculars from the bartender, no purchase necessary to use the roof or binoculars. The rooms are too hot at 25 degree C. (Outside temp is 9 degree C in early October.) Temperature control does nothing. Turning off the thermostat helped a little bit. The bathroom has bidet and towel warmer, I guess those are standard European things. Our room faces the inside of the U shape building, not much to see except the neighbor's Windows. Our friends got a room facing the busy street. Windows have good sound insulation, couldn't hear much noise when the window is closed. 5 min walk to the Muzeum metro station at Wenceslas Square and National Museum.

The bar and outdoor lounge was great, with tons of seating for group hangs. The pool table was old, the sticks were worn down, but still much appreciated - something fun to do on a chill night in! The hostel bar was stocked with a full liquor list, and there was even live music one night. The included breakfast was a huge buffet of tasty options, including a variety of hot teas. The inside reception lounge was nice, and hostel staff was friendly. We had a nice big room (quad), though the bathroom was teeny as expected!

The disadvantage of staying here was the locations. It isn't near the city center, but as long as you wake up early enough to start your day, it'll be fine. There was also a pool and sauna that we didn't get the chance to take advantage of. I would suggest exchanging money elsewhere because the rate isn't that great (shop around).

The "Free Wifi" did not work beyond the door of my bedroom, and could not be corrected, so I incurred $100 in overage fees from my carrier. The hotel did not care, could not correct, and was not willing to refund. What they did offer was to help me find another hotel and provide the number to my tour company (in a condescending manner) since I wasn't satisfied with the resolution of the issues. As far as they were concerned, they were paid and it was my problem. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone under any circumstances.

Since Louis R was already staying at the best hotel (Bishop House), he just had bevvies at this spot. Certain quotes about this spot appealed to Louis R: "Amazing architecture and furnishings with top notch service." "staff is wonderfully friendly without being stuck-up" "offer a great free cheese and wine tasting every evening" " Easy walk to the Castle and Old Town" "Very safe location since it is situated amid several embassies and is on a guarded street." Rooms were very hot (typical European air-condition). Rooms were semi-old. Bathroom is NOT elderly friendly and not recommended if you are traveling with anybody older. They have an omelette station as well as boiled and scrambled eggs and tons of sides, breads, desserts, deli meats seeds and my favorite was the hot teas, acacia honey and the daily hot soups. I added the cilantro to the soup. We are from florida so I'm cold here and the soup kept me warm. The service in breakfast room was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. Empty containers were refilled promptly. The hotel has the option of passing on room service for a free drink voucher. If you're able to reuse your one towel then I suggest you take it. Room service was not the best. The a/c has a dusty smell. The shower is difficult to get into unless you're very tall. Some corners of the room were not clean on arrival and the same until departure. One other issue. This hotel is located within walking distance to wonderful eateries, train, tram and easy to go anywhere. The only issue is that It is located in a spot where to leave you must walk down quite the slippery little stones and coming uphill is even more difficult. The rest of the walk is very easy.

Wenceslas Square is about 5 minute walk, Old Town Square 10-15 minutes, depending on your speed, Charles Bridge about 25 minutes. The hotel itself is very clean and quiet. My room (n208) was on a smaller side but that's fine if you plan to spend your days exploring the city. I enjoyed a very comfortable night here, quiet and undisturbed. The stuff was super nice and I especially appreciated the luggage storage after check out.
