Kyneton is a woodland course with some gems of holes. Established in 1900. The 2nd and 10th are truly tough long par 4's and the 7th and 11th are good water holes. The third is a great short dog-leg par 4. There are only 8 bunkers on the course. Its undulating rather than hilly and there's plenty of shade. The first hole up-hill is one of the poorer holes - so don't be put off by it. I last played here in March 2012. The course was green and in overall good condition. The greens had just been cored so putting was hard. Its only $25 and the beer is cheap. Its not that far from Melbourne on the freeway - very good for social groups. They will let you use a gas barbecue. Check out their excellent web site - it has three pictures of every hole. read more
