Before we started, the one person working offered an option to have surprise, intermittent visits from a character named "Steve the extra-terrestrial" (AKA that same game master wearing an alien mask). This option was a sort of expansion pack on the standard room, with Steve being described in vague terms as "a helper and a hinderer" i.e. he may help you get to the next step or he may make it more difficult for you to do so. We assumed this meant adjusting certain room elements or leading us to/from specific clues, thought it sounded like a fun challenge and accepted the Steve option. We did NOT realize this meant Steve would TICKLE US. ALL OF US. MULTIPLE TIMES. It is so wildly unacceptable to be repeatedly and unwelcomely touched, especially in this context. We had to stop midway to lecture this man about consent. He rounded out the evening with some sexual comments (which it seems were encouraged by the owner to be shared with every group) that made us all wildly uncomfortable and we left feeling icky, regretful and drained. Beyond the unwanted touching, the room itself needs maintenance; a few key items were broken or malfunctioning, and they had to do a full tech reset on the room halfway through. TL;DR: Take your money elsewhere unless you love getting tickled by strangers. And if you do come here, DO NOT DO THE STEVE OPTION.

Rosenheim built the mansion in 1908 to live in his wife. In around 1930 Edward Everett Horton lived there. The Sisters of Social Service then took over the mansion in 1930, using it as a convent and adding a chapel to the building in 1932. Around 1999/2000 the site was declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. It was beautiful and still is in its own right. It was later sold in 2015 for about 3 million, which was a huge price cut from its initial offering. There was a lawsuit against the sellers agent for never disclosing that the property was featured on American Horror Story. Fans of the TV show stated going to it and this made the owners just a tad upset. It is now Murder House. You can now up to walk Murder House and take photos of the beautiful mansion and the area greenery. It is about an hour of fun. It's just a tiny platform you stand on surrounded by mirrors so be careful not to get too close to the edges. I think the photos online made it seem much bigger and more "galaxy-like," so I had different expectations going in You're only inside for about five minutes before it's time to exit for the next group. Still, it was a cool experience to check off the list and afterward we walked around The Broad, which made it a fun afternoon overall. The event organizers did a FANTASTIC job, as guests were all commenting on how much fun they had all night long. Parking is available across the street in a private, fenced but unsupervised parking lot. Lighting is great, and there are numerous very bright lights throughout the lot. The venue where the movie was shown is on the fourth floor of the Level Hotel located on 9th Street and Olive Street in downtown Los Angeles. Guests are not allowed in the outdoor seating area until sixty minutes before showtime. Once upstairs, you are free to sit anywhere, as seating is first come, first served. Guests sit on very comfortable, padded Adirondack chairs that event organizers provide. The view of the screen, the sound, and the overall atmosphere are fun, relaxed, and positive. Guests are handed a headset to listen to the movie, and/or the surround sound speakers are on for those choosing not to use the headset. There is a snack bar offering hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, popcorn, ice cream, and several other snacks on one side and alcoholic beverages on the opposite side. Clean and convenient restrooms are within walking distance from the outdoor seating area. Guests as young as 16 are allowed in, and 21 and over if you plan to have an alcoholic beverage (or two). Different movies, both current and older, are shown nightly. Check their website for the exact movies shown on any given night. Several nights per week, two buffet movies are shown back-to-back. Since it was dark, I mistakenly parked at the lot next to the $10 one, and that one was $20 (ouch). Don't make that mistake. When you walk through the valet, there is someone there to tell you where to wait. The doors open about a half hour before your showing. We were a little confused because we weren't sure if someone was going to come down and get us. There was a resident that scanned us up the elevator, and there were plenty of spots to lounge outside of the cinema area. We sat in front of the concession stands, and the valet from downstairs had come up and ask us and the other two couples waiting to move to the seating area closest to the elevators. It wasn't a big deal but I thought it was weird that we had to do that. Our tickets were for the loveseat, which comes with one popcorn per person. We watched LaLa Land (in LaLa Land), which was nice because there's also a view of the buildings in downtown. Seat was comfy, but I wish there were either cup holders on the chairs or perhaps a small table in between seats for your food & drinks. I HIGHLY recommend bringing a blanket. There are other reviews that mention they have heaters, however, this was not the case during our visit. I'm thinking they probably have them for the winter, but there were no heaters present during our visit. It gets rather cold, but it feels okay if you bring a sweater and a small blanket. I loved the concept of the headphones for the movie. They were excellent quality and had great sound. You can adjust it based on your liking. Also, all the seats have a great view of the screen. It's a pricey date, but it's worth it if you're looking for something different.

Everyone is so kind and cool and makes you feel at home. Each year the founder and her team (yes HER) work to curate a wide variety of vendors with something for everyone. If you're shopping for a fathers day present or something for yourself you'll find all that and more. I cannot recommend coming enough. They have shows in Portland, DC, Phoenix and LA. The booths are run by the artists/sellers themselves which is a great way to connect with these super talented entrepreneurs. Hard to make the rounds without picking up a few items and supporting local artists at the same time, most of whom work out of their apartments. There are some foodie freebie samples and a freebie photo booth too. Meters all around downtown but as of this writing (5/23), self-parking in the building was a flat $8. I ended up with a giant chicken named Bella along with cards, stickers and iron-on patches. Yelpers, you will run into people you know, so the 'no sweatpants' rule applies. See you there.

I thought it was peaceful and calm, it was like a very small version of Self-Realization as there were grassy areas and benches to sit and relax and meditate. I appreciated the fountains because the sound of running water is so calming.
