There are plenty of doses and guides on the short weekend days that they're open.(usually Thursday through Sunday from 11AM to 5 PM.) as a smaller museum it's not gonna have any of the well-known famous people on exhibit. However, you'll find a unique collection of many local artists with a very wide range of talents. The reception desk is very friendly and all docent are knowledgeable about the exhibits. When free admission is available it's an outstanding value. This is also a family, friendly museum, although there is no touching but a good place to introduce your family members to new art forms. Parking is free and entrance is accessible from the handicap parking by entering from the no step side entrance next to the Hollyhock house. A great place to spend a couple hours for a very low price and see quite interesting art on a constant changing and rotating basis.

I got an email about the COLA IMAP Design and Visual Artists Exhibition, featuring new work by six mid-career L.A. artists, and decided to check it out. It was a quick, pleasurable visit. The gallery was attractive and inviting, with plenty of space devoted to each artist's work. The artists featured were all connected to L.A. in one way or another: Patricia Fernández, Wakana Kimura, Michael Massenburg, Duane Paul, Elyse Pignolet, and Kyungmi Shin. I wasn't really familiar with any of them, and I enjoyed the introduction. LAMAG is free and open to the public with easy parking, so I'd definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you make it part of a larger exploration of Barnsdall Park (the park is lovely, and the Hollyhock House is fantastic). It's small, so don't expect the full museum experience, but it's well worth your twenty minutes.

The current exhibition is Rasa: Contemporary Asian Art. We were told that exhibitions usually change every five weeks. But, due to the popularity of one of the artists in this group show, it's on til July 3. I particularly liked the works of Sohan Qadri and Denise Green. I love how art just speaks to you!

Welcome to Eastern Projects Gallery, an expansive space with a mission to highlight talent in the LA community. Super convenient to arrive to from the blue line exiting Chinatown. Parking is only street; weekdays are easier to find over weekends when you'll have luck in a parking lot. Do note the times or call ahead to make an appointment as sometimes the space may be closed. If you're in Chinatown visiting the historic landmarks, trying the culinary scene and shopping, add Eastern Projects to your list.

I have passed by this place numerous times while strolling down Chinatown. I have tried so many times to come in but it's always closed. One time I even waited over an hour because I wasn't sure if the advertised hours is 12 or 1. Someone had pulled off the #2 sticker by the door but no one opened its doors. Until one day, I finally made it and saw the exhibit "All Lit Up". It featured four of the top 5 neon artists to follow in Instagram selected by Los Angeles Magazine. It was a pretty nice exhibit showcasing the different styles of these artists using the same medium. Having neon lights as the subject of this exhibit, it would have been better if they seen at night but unfortunately, they close at 6pm. Or they could have put thick curtains or blinds to block off sunlight. Nevertheless, it was great to see their masterpieces. The gallery is spacious but it feels very warm inside as what other reviewers mentioned. My visit was on 8/24/18, a truly hot summer day. There was no AC so they had a fan running by the door which didn't help with the ventilation at all. However, I'm still looking forward to see any future exhibitions.
