I've been going to LA Tans in the Chicagoland area for the last 10 years and this location is probably the most rundown (even though they did "renovations" earlier in the year). The level III beds are the same beds they used when I started tanning in 2007, and most of them do not even work properly: buttons missing, facial lights not shutting off properly when you manually turn the switch to avoid burning, the tops come down further than they should, cracks in the beds, and bed 16 doesn't even have a fan on the bed - I honestly felt like I was in a death trap! I also can't even tell you how many times I've walked into tan at this location only to be told that their "system was down". Ugh. Don't even get me started on how dirty the fans and beds are at times. I will give this place 3 stars due to their customer service being so great, however, I would highly suggest updating their beds sometime in the near future. read more

I'd like to start this off by saying that when I first moved to the area a handful of years ago, the reviews and ratings of this place were... not great. In fact, they were SO not great that neither my partner nor best friend would accompany me on my first visit. And the reviews weren't wrong. ANYWAY- that was then and this is NOW. In a Covid-19 ravaged world, public spaces (let alone salons!) endanger Americans' wellbeing simply by stepping outside. This public health crisis has become a mental health crisis as well, as feelings of depression and isolation grip our family and neighbors' minds. However on a whim, I decided to visit the LA Tan on Milwaukee one afternoon- that same LA Tan that left me needing (and wanting) more... needing better, so many years ago. Remember when you were little? When the knight in shining armor swooped in on a powerful and galumphing stallion, JUST in time to save the day- remember that? Well in a glorious manifestation of Life Imitating Art, our knight arrived vis-a-vis new ownership, and the stallion he brought? Oh that stallion was none other than the nothing-short-of-brilliant Christine. "But WHO is this Christine??" the readers implored, scratching their heads. Glad you asked. Christine is the vivacious and bubbly manager of both the Palatine AND the Libertyville locations, and she was brought in to kick ass and take names. And by ass I mean 'bad habits to the curb', and by take names I mean 'curate an exemplary experience within your local bronzed-skin factory'. Christine immediately went to work hiring the right people for the job- I don't know if they arrived in the box perfect or if she worked with them to help cultivate an ideal skill set for this role, but she done did it. Which brings me to my final point. Sam. Sam, Sammie, or Samantha, this rose could *literally* go by any other name while her customer service, stellar representation of a professional brand, AND overall knowledge would be just as great as this sentence is long. And trust me- I have worked in tanning salons before on the East coast. Sam not only spoke with me knowledgeably about products and best practices to help maximize a healthy result from my time at LA*T, she left me glowing from this whole sitch. A friendly, well-informed, helpful, and smiling face is always what employers hope for in their outward-facing roles, and gosh darnit if Christine didn't strike gold with Sam! In conclusion- tanning IS cheaper than therapy, but don't go to just ANY old tanning salon... come to LA Tan on Milwaukee in Libertyville. You won't be disappointed! read more

Yesterday (12/11/18) I came to LA Tan in Libertyville at about 4pm and had the most awful experience I have ever had at a tanning salon. I chose a level 2 tan in the versa pro booth (room 18) and during the 2nd pass down of the spray, I was only sprayed by one nozzle and it came out extremely heavy and dark. I understand this is nobody's fault, certainly not either of the women working could have foreseen this. Though, I went to the front desk and explained what had happened and asked for help because half of my body had a thick coat of super dark tan and I didn't want to let it sit too long as I'm fairly pale. Neither of the women working (a younger teenaged girl and an older one with the upper lip piercing) wanted to help me or explain what happened and said "use the baby wipes" and proceeded to make me feel embarrassed and as if I didn't matter as a customer. I cleaned off the tan and got dressed and came back out and waited for the customer in line to be done and I explained that I did not have time to try the machine again and that I simply wanted a refund of the $30 I had paid. Woman with the piercing said that is is LA tan policy to not offer refunds and I had to just do it again, even though I told her I had someone waiting in the car and I needed to feed my 8wk old baby. This resulted in me leaving the salon with no tan and out the $30 I had paid. I normally enjoy the services at LA tan and I hope there is some way to fix this situation whether that be a free tan in the future or a reimbursement. I was extremely embarrassed by the whole situation and left the salon in tears. read more

I guess they don't like business. I came in here on a Thursday night with my mom looking to get two tanning packages. I wanted to do a versa/ cocktail package. I was asking about the $100 a month package and the girl at the desk was very rude. Seemed very annoyed that I was even asking any questions. My mom was also wanting to sign up for a package so we were asking if they had an specials or deals for the month. She continued to give attitude and seemed very annoyed. She was also very burned and red on her face so for being the front desk on a tanning salon you should be properly tanned. I ended up going to xsport and signing up for tanning. They are so nice there. It is sad because I have heard wonderful things about the round lake location. PLEASE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. Oh, the best part is I called and spoke to a manager the next day and she just said she will speak to the girl. Did not apologize at all. read more

The only good thing about LA Tan is $5 Tuesday's. I would never pay full price for a tan here. The beds are OKAY. They'll do the job but they're old, usually have at least one bulb burnt out and the level 3 lay down is EXTREMELY HOT. The mystic tan here has alot to be desired as well. The staff is never overly helpful with the spray tanning process. Also, the mystic tan machine is very old and outdated. The atmosphere has alot to be desired. The place is dark and dreary with typical tacky tanning posters all around. Don't expect anything to be too clean when you go either. read more

Disappointing ... I usually get along with the staff but last night was different , this new girl has no idea how to pull up my name till I suggested putting my birthday in . I usually go in to use level 3 stand ups , I got send to ROOM 4 . WROST ROOM TO USE , it never got hot all I felt was the fans . Waste of money and disappointing service . People who answer the phone are very rude and not helpful. I called and waited for 10 min just to have someone hang up. Called back and person who answer was not nice and did not say good by just hung up again. First time I went the young lady was very pleasant and I bought a package. Seriously love this location! Whenever I go to lunch dates with my sister in law. Typical LA Tan beds, lotions seem up to date and I've never waited more than a few minutes for a bed. Update- came today on 7.9.16 for a quick tan after work, I said I wanted a bronzer lotion, she tried to sell me on a intensifier saying it was a bronzer & when I corrected her she was rude. Put me in a bed that was not clean and she wiped it down before I got in, and didn't seem like she was that interested in being there. Completely rude . Very unimpressive customer service. I went here because I wanted to use a coupon I received from signing up for their email subscription. Even though their website already stated that the coupons are valid at the Libertyville store I called in just to confirm that I would be able to use one of the coupons that I received in their email and the worker confirmed that I could. I went in later that day and the manager said that those coupons could not be used in that store. Initially, I wasn't too upset with the place because I figured either I misread something on the coupons or the manager mistook which coupon I had so I explained to her that not only did I receive an email from their store, the website says the coupons can be used AND I called in to check and the employee on the phone said they worked. The manager said that those coupons (which they are still emailing out) were not in their system anymore and just said "There's nothing I can do about it" in a standoffish way that sounded like "Not my problem". I decided to still purchase a tanning session because I didn't want to waste a 20 minute drive for nothing and I became even less impressed with the manager and the store. She checked in someone, who came in after I did, before me. I wasn't bothered by that because I was a first-time customer and I knew returning customers take a lot less time to check in. However, after the third person she checked in before me my wait added up to about 15 more minutes. Once she began to check me in, I waited another five minutes while she answered a phone call to book someone else. Not only were there no small accommodations made to customers from the store's mistake in misleading/misinforming people, but the manager was also a bit rude. read more

I do NOT recommend this place to my enemies. It's not clean, missing parts on the booths, SOLD me a 5 sessions package and NOT told me that the package expires in 30 days..... I can go on , and on. You never see the same person greeting you twice, you are treated like a stranger always. To find out they are all part timers or shifted from other stores same owner, When I asked for the owner I was told to call corporate or leave my number. Do not go here for a spray tan!! I've gotten spray tans from other LA locations and they came out a million times better. Honestly no one even noticed on both me and my roommate. I think the woman at the front may have messed something up because she had to reset it 2-3 times for each of us. Such a waste of money, we saw NO results. We didn't smell like the spray or feel damp at any point during it. I've tried to called a few time since then (over the past 4 days) to ask if maybe the solution was running low before we went in for the spray or something and it has been busy EVERY SINGLE TIME. read more

Dirty. I feel defiled just walking in there. There is a huge crowd on Tuesday nights so be prepared to stand around, really close to people while you wait. The girl "cleaning" the area was using a spray bottle and a filthy looking old rag. (No paper towels?..)The staff is rude. The "robes" in the rooms are scruffy and dirty. The complimentary sun block lotion in the rooms was empty, so people had opened up the bottle and apparently had been sticking their hands in to get some off of the pump. read more

I've worked at tanning salons before, and I've visited more than I'm proud of. This particular store does not have very nice staff members. I went in here to purchase my first package wtih LA Tan, and I will not be buying anything else once this package expires. The girl working the front desk was very rude, offered me no information and had absolutely zero personality. I went back the second day and a different girl was working....same thing...I realize they were probably trying to act cool in front of the guy that was "chillin" in the chair , but you are getting paid to be there....so maybe you should actually try WORKING. read more

I have been a member of LA Tan for many years. I used to go the Arlington Heights location and for the past 2 1/2 years have gone to Libertyville location. The staff is quite young and obviously not experienced with any form of customer service. I had previously purchased several different tanning packages. Once covid 19 started I have been working tirelessly, literally on the front line. I called yesterday to inquire about expiration of my packages and I was told they have expired. I mentioned that since the facility was closed due to covid 19, my package should have been extended & I was told that they extended packages for 2 months. I explained that I work at a testing facility and life has been quite busy and I asked if there was anything they could do as a good will gesture about even extending half of my "tans" and was told "NO". I will never give another LA Tan any of my hard earned money. I do not agree with how they do business. read more

This place trys to rip you off on everything. The girl at the front desk was unaware that the face portion of the bed turned off and told me to put a towel on my face. Lol. Really? Absolutely love this place! All of the workers are so kind and helpful!! Every time I come in I feel so welcomed by the workers, especially the manager, she is so amazing!! I read a review about her regarding her tone and her having an attitude which is absolutely NOT true!! She is so hard working and all the beds are cleaned right away!! She keeps this place very organized and clean! Every time I throw the paper from my tanning sticker away, there is never any trash! That just proves how clean the ladies working there keep this place! I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a great tanning experience! Also the ladies are so helpful when I run out of lotion, they give great tips and advice regarding the different kinds there are on the market and what they sell in store! They greatly enforce safety regarding the protection of your eyes in the tanning bed which is very good. In all, every time I go to this place I come out very satisfied and also knowing that I get the most for my buck! Thank you for all of your help! read more

I walked in, front desk was on their phone. I walked in to the spray tan and the place was filthy. They have an old spray tan machine that does not close and heater barely works (to dry). Bottom half does not blow air and there is barely any gust of heat blowing. Worst LA tan I've ever been to. They do not have any wipes or regular lotion. Overall, very dirty looking and definitely not the place to go for a spray. read more

This place is dirty and the tanning beds and room are falling apart. The floors were so dirty I did not want to be barefoot in the room.

First, I would like to say that they have posted on their walls that you will get a free tan or lotion if you bring in a good review written for them on Yelp...to me that seems a little unethical. Second, the girl Danielle that works there is unbelievably rude and is the sole reason I am canceling my package...that I've had for at least 3 years. It's unfortunate because I go to other locations, like Fox Lake and Round Lake and the girls are great. I expected the same treatment from this location, but instead, it is making me leave LA Tan all together. The owner should take some tips from those locations on ethical business and treating the customer right. In case this location didn't know, without happy customers, you do not have a job. I am sadly disappointed and will NEVER visit this location again. read more

Absolutely terrible. The people who work here are immature and irritating, and down-right condescending. I've gone here to get a spray tan four times, and only twice was the store open during the hours which it was said to be operating. I am a high school student and am unable to come during any other time of the day other than the evening. I called this store this evening to ask when they close (as last time I went they were closed twenty minutes before they said they would) and the girl told me that 8.40 is the last time they will do a spray tan. I tell her I will be over in 15 minutes, as it is 8.20. I show up exactly 8.35 on the dot, and they were closed. Again. Not only did I tell this girl that I was coming, but she left her job half an hour early (all lights were off and there was no one at the desk). This, as I said, is the second time this has happened. I am very irritated and doubt that I will ever give this store my business ever again. read more
