This is a truly an authentic Chinese Tea House that focuses on the medicinal properties of teas…read more Yet, Mr. Low does keep popular teas such as Earl Grey and Chai on hand for us westerners. The bonus is he will tell you their medical properties based on their ingredients. I was browsing for good places to purchase loose tea on the internet and came upon a review of SpécialThés on steepster.com. The posted picture made it look so authentic that I had to try it out. I was not disappointed. Mr. Low, the manager, was a pleasure to talk to and is so knowledgeable in teas. He has a wide variety of teas for every taste. I asked for a Pur'eh (red tea), he gave me three different types to smell and my noise deciphered the best on. I think I impressed him, as he kept on telling me "you choose the best." He asked me how I learned about this place, and I said I saw a review on the internet. Apparently, a tea fanatic had tried all the tea places in Montreal and deemed his the best. He never heard from her again, except people have been trickling into his store due to a review she posted on the internet. You can read the review that influenced me here: http://steepster.com/places/3052-specialithes-slash-specialteas-montreal-qc . If you love loose leaf tea and wish to expand your horizons, I strongly recommend Mr. Low's shop on the corner of Clark and René-Lévesque. P.S.: - Make sure to take your notebook with you when you go to this shop because you have to write down or memorize the steeping instructions. - Keep in mind the price on the bottles is tax included, so the quality of tea is superior to David's Tea for the same dollar price.

Plus hubs loves TCM because it takes a holistic approach. So, while in Montréal during Christmas '24, hubs was feeling out of sorts and something brought on a nasty, hacking cough that he couldn't control. Because of his love for TCM, hubs Googled one and Vanshow H. in Chinatown also came up winning on Yelp. The sitting area is simple, has a small waiting area up front and a self-serve tea brewing kettle at no cost for those who are waiting- which came in handy while I waited for hubs. Vanshow offers intriguing full-leaf herbs, small-batch+handcrafted blends, dietary products and ointments. When all was said and done, hubs was given herbs to wipe out the nasty cough and strengthen his entire system. Even though we cut our Montréal vacation short so hubs can prep his tea ASAP at home, his visit here was tremendously helpful. Once home and the days wore on, Vanshow's herbal Mulberry blend was exceptionally beneficial in taking care of hubs' cough. These folks have a reputation and it shows- plus they provided excellent quality all around.

They say they have "bulk delivery". You decide…read more Ali once claimed I was the St. Henri store's first customer. I have type-2 diabetes. Which I've mentioned multiple times to ALI, as I've tried for 40 years to get him to carry stevia, the only acceptable sugar substitute for diabetics (according to my doctor). So much fun realizing they just eliminated it from their shelves...altogether. But it was this bulk grain order that's turned me off this store, perhaps for good: I ordered 5 X 20KG bags of grain. Kamut, Spelt Rye, Buckwheat and Oats. The Kamut, Spelt, Rye and Oats arrived in a reasonable amount of time. And, as I am handicapped, Ali brought it right up to the third floor. Nice. I haven't seen any sign of the buckwheat, in the 5 months since. Despite Ali giving his word it was coming. But the oats were the kicker. "Not fit for human consumption" is the description I'd give them. Every mouthful a festival of oat husks, and I'm spitting that &^%%$ out for an hour after every breakfast. I told Ali about it, days after it was delivered, and again, he gave me his word it'd be replaced. 5 months later, I'm still waiting. When the weather's good enough for me to get to the store, with my two canes and without my ebike, limited to about 3 blocks range...I limp to the store and I'm told that "Ali doesn't want to deal with this." Well. I don't exactly want to deal with an enormous bag of pig-oats, which I'm now forced to eat every day. I NEED oats for my diet. And there's no way I can carry a 20KG bag downstairs to throw it out. So now I'm forced to eat BAD oats I don't like...and to wonder why I'm being treated so shoddily. So "bulk delivery"??? Meh. Use TAU
