The initial work was outstanding. When speaking with Michael, he said they would return in a month to spray and ensure all the weeds were gone. At first, he responded to texts, but then he stopped replying, and they never came back. If you use this company, make sure you get everything you need done before they leave. We ended up doing the follow-up ourselves, and within a month, a ten-foot section of weeds we had paid to have removed had already grown back.

(1 Star) Well…read more.. where do I even begin? Three years ago we hired this company to regrade our yard and install a sump pump because our backyard had the drainage capabilities of a swimming pool. We met with Michael, who sold us the dream. Everything sounded amazing. We agreed on the plan, handed over thousands of our hard-earned dollars, and thought our drainage problems were finally over. That lasted about two weeks. The first good rainstorm rolled through, our yard turned into soup, and the brand-new sump pump immediately started tripping the GFCI breaker before eventually quitting altogether. After what felt like pulling teeth just to get Michael to come back, he finally showed up. He dug up the buried extension cord they installed and... surprise! The only thing protecting the electrical connection underground was ONE SINGLE PIECE OF ELECTRICAL TAPE. I'm no electrician, but I do know that water + buried extension cord + one tiny piece of electrical tape = an absolutely terrible idea. At this point we're relieved because surely he's here to fix it... right? Wrong. He unwraps the tape, lays the soaking wet extension cord on the ground, tells us it needs to "dry out," and leaves. I'm sorry... dry out? The ENTIRE REASON we're calling you is because our yard is UNDER WATER. We literally have a 100-gallon basin full of water because that's the drainage system YOU installed. If the water could magically disappear, we wouldn't need a sump pump in the first place. He never came back. So we ended up fixing his work ourselves. We weatherproofed everything correctly, and amazingly enough it worked for the next two years. Fast forward to today after another major rainstorm. The pump starts tripping again and eventually dies completely. So instead of spending our Saturday night relaxing, my husband and I spent MIDNIGHT hauling seventeen 5-gallon buckets of water out of our yard before we finally started digging through ankle-deep mud by hand to find the buried electrical connection. My Hunter boots filled with water, I had literally just gotten out of the shower, and there I was digging through filthy swamp water trying to keep our property from flooding. The water was in our shed, around our daughter's bike trailer, all over her bike, and surrounding my husband's brand-new electric bike. After digging everything up, removing layer after layer of waterproofing that WE installed (not them), we finally got the pump running... for a few minutes. Then it tripped again. We even tried a completely different extension cord. The problem is the pump they installed. At this point I'd bet good money that when my husband calls tomorrow, we'll either get ignored or told they'll "be out soon." We've heard that one before. So here's my advice: * Don't hire this company. * If your spouse says it's time to call the Better Business Bureau the first time, listen to them. * If you're thinking about giving this company thousands of dollars, you'd honestly be better off throwing the money into your flooded backyard. At least you'll know where it went. Three years later we're still dealing with the exact problem we paid them thousands to fix. We didn't hire them to create our own private backyard lake we hired them to solve a drainage problem. Mission spectacularly failed.

These folks took the time to listen to my concerns came out to look at the lawn and set about taking care of it. I get the same guy every treatment so if I have any concerns I can let him know. Of course, anything else I can call the office and they'll take care of it. The only downside is that they do upsell every now and then with stuff but it's a soft touch and I don't mind. They also have a great discount for paying in advance vs per treatment which I appreciate as well. All in all, a good lawn care company.

During those early years, I would have given them 4 or 5 stars. However, over time, it became clear that they didn't care much about their customers or the results. I called about bare spots in my yard, and they kept recommending one service after another, but my yard only got worse. Last summer, after expressing my frustration, they offered a free aeration followed by overseeding. Unfortunately, they scheduled it during the hottest week of the year, after weeks of no rain, which resulted in the ground being rock hard. I noticed on my cameras that they spent only about 15 minutes on my large property. When I got home, I saw barely any plugs from the aeration--just grass seed lying on top of the hard ground. To make matters worse, a month later, I discovered they had charged me for the "free" aeration. It took nearly a month of calls to get that charge reversed. I was given excuses like, "The owner is away, so I can't process payments or credits." Finally, two months later, they issued the credit. I was not pleased with the product or the service. I spent 1000's with them. In the early years, I thought they did a great job, but after a while, the only thing they cared about was upselling additional services. These things being said, I would not recommend The Weed Man out of Annapolis.
