At first I was hopeful that H Mart would use this space for more restaurant stalls after it created a 4 stall food hall last May, followed by another 5 stall section in the summer. But no more restaurant stalls. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Browsing through the store did bring back a lot of my sweet childhood memories in Asia. Stationery stores in Asia were students' favorite stops. I remember in classes and during recess, we would show off fancy pencils, fragrant erasers, sick stickers, and transformer-level pencil cases. Well, that's what ArtBox offers, and more - what every student would love to own and show off in class. One thing that is totally unique here, well in addition to merchandise offered, is the price tags. The prices are printed in Korean Won (currency) during packaging, presumably in Korea. And the store would have a placard of "price list" at every section, tabling the amounts equivalent in US Dollars! Another observation is there was no staff in the store proper! No cash registers either. I suppose one pays at the supermarket check-out?! I suspect ARTBOX isn't just for students and kids. I think grown up women might find many desirable items here too, such as plushes. I can see this as a fun date stop after some fun dishes at the adjacent food hall. Everything is cute. Not so much for men though I'm afraid - unless they are being held hostage and under duress by their kids (or date) lol.

Butala is a great place to pick up Indian handicrafts, books on yoga and Hinduism, prayer items,…read moreutensils, etc. I frequented their Manhattan location for years but recently discovered they had closed down that store permanently. My guess is the sales did not offset the high rents. It is likely that this Queens location might come under a similar pressure. It is a large store, well-stocked and clean. The service is friendly but I find their knowledge of the inventory is lacking. Their collection of books, especially the Amar Chitra Katha comic books that I was raised on, is quite unique. Unlike with a grocery store, this is an episodic business and customers visit the store infrequently. But if I am in the market for Indian merchandise, I will be sure to check out Butala. An excellent resource for New Yorkers, although I realize the Manhattan location was too good to be sustainable.

I arrived Wednesday evening to pick the prints and was told scornfully "I told you Thursday or Friday" . The man was not only wrong but very combative in his tone and language. I can understand if the prints were not made by the set pickup date but I can not understand the need to act defensively and the attempt to shift blame onto me, the paying client. The man told me I could come back Thursday and I asked if he was positive and he confirmed. He said he would text me when they were done and I left. I walked in Thursday afternoon and the man said "you're here to pick up the prints aren't you, I told you Thursday or Friday and that I would text you". He wasn't apologetic he was annoyed. I countered he confirmed they would be ready Thursday and he became even more argumentative and dismissive. Regardless of the pick up times that were argued, this is extremely poor customer service. I paid in advance for a service which was not rendered in the agreed upon timeframe and instead of being accommodating or at the least kind about it I was met with contempt and made to feel like I was an annoyance. This is inexcusable. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

They found it quickly and reserved it for me as my mom who lives quite far away will have to pick it up. I didn't feel rushed off the phone even when I spoke in Konglish. The value of the book was FAR MORE than responsible for it being Korean and not the translated version. I haven't been in the store physically, but can't wait to when I visit parents again.

They have a very small selection of K-pop albums. Unfortunately most of them didn't have price tags already attached to them so I had to ask the cashier to ring it up for me. I only saw two albums w/ tags. I wished they added them so I don't have to constantly ask for it / bother the cashier. I went here bc I saw reviews that this place was pretty cheap compared to other K-pop related stores. However the album I got was $28.94. And after tax - $31.51 Which is almost narrowly the same price as my usual K-pop store I frequent. But I bought it anyways. I also rang up aespa's jewel case & it came up to around $27. So I ended up buying only one album. When I opened it, the spine on the bottom of the photo book was a lil fucked up. And I noticed two - ish pages a bit teeny tiny detached. I am quite nit picky abt things like this so I was bit disappointed. However, i did clumsily drop the album after purchasing it and banged it slightly while it was in my bag. I think there was supposed to be a poster that came with the album but I never got it There was also a shelf I almost missed that was in front of the cashier on the side. In the back they have a bunch of books all in Korean. I found the selection of cards to be better and way less expensive than the big chain stores. Not only was I able to get the birthday card I needed but I was able to pick up all the father's day cards I will need too. They also have a bunch of odds and ends as well as a big selection of scratch offs and the gentleman behind the counter was very nice. I'm more than happy to make sure to continue to support this small business especially when I need greeting cards.
