    I purchased countertop material and a kitchen sink from Menards West Wichita, Ks. I used as an…read moreinstaller referenced and displayed at that store of and by a Jarom Reeves, dba JRConstruction. After he quit working at my residence, I tried on multiple occasions in contacting him for a receipt of the work he had done and answers to issues I had regarding his installation work, he was not responding. I also approached the Menards store in person on multiple trips since they still were in contact with him and continued and continue to display him as a referenced installer in their cabinet/appliance department (as of July 30, 2025). Finally, I received an email from that Menards store claiming 'you (implying me) made racist statements.... that we wasn't responding to you due to this' (Menards use of improper English noted). This was a general statement of claims of 'racist statements' on the Menards electronic domain (email), and by a Menards employee apparently on their time clock at the time of the dissemination of that email. I immediately, the next day, asked them in detail what exactly I said were 'racist statements'? I have also asked their corporate office in Wisconsin specifically in detail what I said were these statements. As of today, there has been no response to my request of the accused claims against me. On July 30, 2025, I went to that Menards store to ask in person, the manager of what in 'detail' I said were 'racist statements'. The acting manager at that time was a 'Darrell' , as Justin Wetter (the current manager) was apparently not there. 'Darrell' used the same excuse that Wetter made in his email to me, that it was made by a person no longer at Menards. 'Darrell' said he would have to end the conversation, that it was a legal issue. He wrote down my email and phone number. Either he did not pursue (probably not surprisingly, as indicated by his demeanor to me) or their legal department is refusing to reply, as I have not received the requested detail to date of what I was accused of making. Since Menards still has (as of July 30, 2025) a business relationship (i.e. has him displayed as a reference installer in their cabinet/appliance area) with Reeves (dba JR Construction Co), it is presumed they are currently in contact with him (as the email indicated he is presumed to have been the one making the general claim that I made racist statements). And, Menards is/was an accomplice by delaying the response/no response to me, as they indicated in their email (in the attached) 'that we wasn't responding to you due to this' . Their reasoning for no reply for my request of the detail of racist statements they claimed I made is that the manager that initiated that email is no longer with Menards. Regardless of which Menards employee spread claims accusing me of making racist statements, it was a Menards employee, not on his or her personal time. The burden is on Menards to produce the detail I am requesting as they initiated this general claim of me making 'racist statements', otherwise Menards is making (via that email to me) false claims that is defamatory towards me. It is also important to note I took the installer, Jarom Reeves (dba JR Construction) to Sedgwick County, KS small claims court in January 2025 regarding his defective installation work. I was awarded a summary judgement against Reeves. The judgement became delinquent. I had to seek garnishment, it was paid I am presuming by him and not received by me until June 2025. I write this with regret, as I had put trust in Menards and their business relationship(s) in spending my hard earned money. I now will only visit them and buy only their sale items (minimal margins, if any). I hope other members of the public will take heed to my disappointment and not be victims of disrespect and defamatory treatment by this Menards store and now as evidenced by no response from their corporate legal department, Menards in general.

My husband and I have been working to get our basement finished in preparation for our new baby. Since Star Lumber did our upstairs (prior to us moving in) we figured we would use them again for continuity's sake. The quality, look, and feel of everything is high quality. However, working with them has been extremely trying. To start off, if you do a renovation, you have to go to 4 different departments to pick out everything. The departments do not communicate with one another at all and you end up telling everyone the same thing over and over again. This also causes problems with coordinating and facilitating installation. We ordered everything in January, but weren't finished with regular installation things until April. The only reason we got done as fast as we did was my semi-weekly phone call asking them how things were progressing and when we could proceed with installation. They were very unresponsive which felt unprofessional and made it hard to get the ball rolling. Although we asked for phone calls prior to people showing up (ie the 30 minute call ahead before the appointment), we had to ask for those calls many times and even still didn't get any communication. One day the countertop team came to install the countertops (not the day they were scheduled) and we were trying to run home from work and missed them. They did our carpet and doors, but the doors don't fit post carpet, even though they did the measuring of the doors and trim and everything.

This time we were shopping for a door. Apparently, this is too much to ask for as employees scattered like roaches to hide when we were obviously looking for assistance. One employee was obviously inebriated, or still loaded from the night before, or just permanently stupid. Made two trips back and forth and it was somewhat hilarious and mildly infuriating watching the C-level acting job these sorry, pathetic employees did pretending to be busy. I ended up going elsewhere to a business that doesn't have employees that part like the Red Sea on the chance a customer will ask a question or make a purchase. My bad, Star, it won't happen again. * STAR is questioning the validity of this review, and is doing far more work with regards to this review than my in-store visit. So I will double down with more detail. It was the week of Thanksgiving, Monday or Tuesday. 1pm or so. The first employee saw me come in and was fixated on a spot on the wall. I then proceeded down the main aisle and saw an employee discussing something with a customer. Okay, he's busy, no problem. Older guy. Then I saw is conversation was with another employee. Once I passed by them they broke up and went to hide (assuming). An older, middle aged, somewhat haggard woman was next as she scurried from her desk quickly to go look closely at one of the display doors until I was safely out of range. I had the business card of a person (I've long since thrown it away, don't remember the name) that my wife dealt with the prior week - after going thru this same, tired routine of trying to lasso an employee a week or two before. Finally, I headed back towards the front and asked the a) hung over b) still drunk or c) stupid guy if So and So was working. He was now fixated on something out the front window, 180 degrees away from me. "He's at lunch" and then "Sometimes he comes back on time". That was it. Done. Why ask anything else or even try at that point.

The location and street it is on, smack in the industrial area of Wichita, makes it easy to miss, especially when attempting to navigate the sorry excuse this city offers the citizens it taxes for safe, smooth roads and highways...But if you can safely glance to the right while your tires and suspension are being destroyed by potholes that are a dozen lawsuits ready to happen by motorcyclists daily...on every road in the city(who's representatives should be embarrassed and perhaps replaced) You will see their sign and small parking lot left of the building which to my pleasant surprise, looks larger on the inside than the outside. Upon entry, you will experience sensory overload in a very good way and only the most dry, crusty, boring personalities would not enjoy at least some of what they discover inside as they navigate the jam packed, yet aisled interior, but I believe most people would truly enjoy the furnishings and décor , even bedding at great prices upon a visit...that is, if they aren't involved in an accident because the state and city budget for infrastructure obviously has been mis-allocated unquestioningly for far, far too many years. I also suggest visiting this wonderful top tier, 5 star bargain store during the daylight hours, considering the aforementioned Wichita and Kansas public servants,(our employees) are unaware of the incredible invention of not only asphalt and any number of high tech, roadway delivery systems, but this amazing invention that just arrived on the market, well, in the 1970's, called reflective road and highway paint, which causes your headlights to make those very important, highly state and local elected rep. ignored -STRIPES and LINES actually GLOW at night and that helps EVERYONE to see the road and where to keep their cars between, especially while thumping and bumping, bobbing and banging across roads that the wagon trains of old would have laughed at and avoided. But I suppose those representatives do not care for the hundreds of thousands of folks with various forms of night blindness, nor the older or elderly seniors who still deserve smooth, safe roads, nor do they care what the rest of the world thinks about them, since the roads represent the government of a region, and myself being a new resident to Wichita and coming from a location where you did not need 1000 tire, brake and suspension mechanics to every 1 full service mechanic, I am appalled that any city in this nation of which we are all citizens, would allow the roadways to biodegrade to such a pathetic and embarrassing state. So I DID thoroughly enjoy my visit to this friendly, exciting store, spending over an hour and leaving with a lovely carpet for my office from India and am planning many future visits. The only issue I had, was the issue I have ANY place I go in Wichita, and that is the brutal, dangerous drive it takes to go literally ANYWHERE in Wichita...and it is time someone is elected who will replace whoever is responsible for letting this go for so long. With that, my 2 birds with 1 stone response to this establishment is satisfactorily completed. I give them 5 stars out of 5 after my first visit.
