This restaurant is located near the Trevi Fountain and was recommended to me so I had dinner there. It's a casual no reservation type of restaurant with no outside seating. Inside it's loud and busy and obviously popular. I started with a serving of bruschetta pomodoro for €2 and added fettuccine bolognese for €10 and a mug of Peroni beer which is a local specialty. The grilled bread with tomatoes on it arrived first and I wish I had ordered another one. Those tomatoes were very good tasting and fresh. The pasta and meat sauce followed and while it was good tasting the pasta was not up to the level of other pastas that I had on this trip. The table service was fast and friendly. I didn't expect a fine dining meal here and the entree was acceptable but this meal was a 3 instead of a 4. I do think this is a good and inexpensive place to eat. I would return.

This wasn't my first choice for dinner after some recommendations fell through. That's a bummer because this fabulous restaurant should have been on that list. It's not fancy but it's fabulous and it's inexpensive. Warmly welcomed and immediately brought to a table despite my lack of reservation (it's January, definitely not tourist season) where a waiter took my drink order. When he returned with my "grande Peroni" that was a full liter of beer, I ordered dinner. Bruschetta to start was a nice portion of flavorful tomatoes on charred crunchy bread. Yummy but not enough to share. Main course, I opted for the fettucine cacio e pepe. A nice big portion and it was perfect. The pasta was al denta and the sauce was exactly what it's supposed to be - cheese and peppery. So delicious. I wasn't going to get dessert but the neighboring table had a tiramisu and suddenly I had no choice. It was AWESOME. All of that - the large beer was €11! - including the appetizer, main course and dessert was only €26. Yummy full dinner in the touristy district for that low price? Amazing. You need to check them out! [Review 19193 overall - 348 in Italy - 163 of 2023.]

Love. Love. This place. Is the home of Peroni beer. Good and service are great. It offers many options and the menu changes daily. The good is fresh and the vibe is totally cool. Enjoy.

A Prosecco and Peroni on draft.

Not the best experience. The wait staff were a bit rude and had a loud argument with one another while one was behind the bar we were sitting and and two were standing behind us, so we were literally stuck in the middle. The main seating area is reserved for people ordering food so if you come for a drink, you'll be sitting at the small bar area squished up and amidst unfriendly staff. The charming old school ambience wasn't worth the overall experience.

Fun, very loud and boisterous crowds, very popular place with locals. Lots of food choice and good portions and a good pasta Amatriciana, very hot when I started eating it! The bock wurst was also tasty and you have the option of adding packets of ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. Fast service. Very good for larger parties. Good price for the amount of food I ordered! One of the better restaurants I've sampled in Rome in terms of cost and comfort foods. Great place to grab a beer!

Busy place , but if you go for late lunch or early dinner the place is empty. Food and service are really, really good. I go the best eggplant parmigiana in along time. Traditional a located in the center of Rome

So after a long tour at the colosseum, our tour guide recommended this place for lunch. We didn't have reservations for our large group of 10 and despite being super busy they were quick to seat us. Our server was amazing and recommended some really great dishes. The cheesy stuffed squash blossoms were absolutely amazing. But the star of the show was really their tiramisu. Out of the 11 slices of tiramisu I had during my three weeks traveling Italy, this was by far the best. The cream was smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The lady fingers were soaked perfectly half way through with high quality espresso and the alcohol flavor was just right. I give it a 9.75/10 because I still hold out hope for the perfect slice but I highly highly recommend trying a slice/bowl. Its really the best in Italy!!!

The pasta alla gricia and gnocchi are both amazing. Not surprisingly, they also offer up 33oz pours of Peroni. Perhaps the best part, though, is the price. €8 for gnocchi and €7.50 for the pasta. My lousy American exchange rate appreciates the break. P.S. I won't ruin the surprise but if it's your birthday, they give you a very unique and surprisingly sexual free dish. You'll know it when you see it.

Great place and great food. We opened the place up at noon and enjoyed some Peroni and pasta. Apparently it's hopping at night, but midday, is a nice calm meal.

Spotted this bar on my way back to my room and had a quick beer. Old looking bar, think they've been operating since 1906. Food looked good, but i was stuffed, I just stoped by for a beer. Service was OK, just your typical European service. One of the ladies confused me for Italian or thought I spoke very well Italian but that was not the case. I understood some, but Italians speak too fast for me to understand. From the bits and pieces I got, sounds like a funny story, wish I spoke good Italian, would appreciate the story more. Having their food next time I visit.

Fast service even there's a lot of people . Large menu of sandwiches. Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside.

The ravioli was mid. The beers were great to be expected but you can find peroni and better food and service anywhere in Rome, skip it.

Open Baladin was on my list of the most popular bars in Rome on Yelp (in terms of number of reviews) and it was close to where we were at, so we made out way in the afternoon on a Friday. Ambiance (4/5): Open Baladin looks a lot different than your typical Roman establishment. Bright colors, quirky decor, and a beautiful bar area are some of the highlights here. We sat at a table as we wanted to avoid the bar stools (no back support so I've never been a fan). Service (3/5): Typical Italian service. Not terribly attentive or friendly but gets the job done. We had to track down our waiter once or twice to order a beer and close out but that's standard fare in Europe. Food (3/5): My partner in crime had a burger while I had a sandwich with proscuitto and cheese. Pretty much your typical Italian sandwich. Fresh and adequate. Though a bit overpriced. Drinks (4.5/5): This is the highlight. Open Baladin has a fantastic selection of beers including those that I would qualify outside of your typical run-of-the-mill. They have a Belgian beer section of the menu which is always an indication that a bar takes their beer seriously. And most interestingly, for me, they have grape beer . . . say what?! I had never heard of it either. Beer made with grapes, that's a first. While it's not something I would order often, I very much enjoyed trying something new and unique like this. And here I thought grapes were just used to make wine! If you're looking for a cool spot to grab a brew, with a fantastic beer list, and a different vibe than your typical Italian bar, make sure to check them out!

That being said, he wanted to try some beer bars during our time in Italy so we put a few on our agenda to check out. Open Baladin was one of these spots, and since we had some time before our dinner reservation we stopped here for some beer. Walking in, I was really impressed with the space - it's large with a combination of high tops and tables throughout the dining area. The back wall housed the bar which had bottles stacked up to the ceilings - this made for a really striking focal point. The color scheme was mostly dark woods and warm colors which fit well for being a beer bar. The menu had a large selection of beer, I decided to go with one of their holiday varieties which was quite good. They had a small food selection, and I specifically noticed they had a variety of homemade chips. These seemed like the ideal snack so I ordered some of their original variety which came with homemade ketchup. These were great - not greasy and the ketchup really made it something special. Service was good, everyone was friendly and overall we had a great experience at Open Baladin. Even if you're not the biggest beer drinker, there's enough variety to find something for most people, and the food shouldn't be overlooked.
