THE GOOD ---------------- + Great aerial view of the city! Obviously not as high as the Eiffel Tower, but still very solid views, ESPECIALLLLY of the Champs Elysees right outside. + Besides the view of the city, there are historical artifacts inside at different points as you walk up. Definitely worth a look when you need a break. + There are restrooms about halfway up the Arc, so don't fret if you just downed a bottle of water. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - The walk up and down the Arc's top is definitely a workout. I'm still tired just thinking about it! There are alottttttt of dizzying steps on the spiral staircase, so mentally prepare yourself for it before embarking. - Crossing the street over to the Arc can be an adventure with no street lights or signs controlling the traffic so cross at your own peril! MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------- = Buy an e-ticket! You can cut the long line if you do!
This place is pure magic; especially at night. Climbing to the top is worth every step. Once you're there, the view of the twinkling lights of the Champs-Élysées look like a river of stars. You also have a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower sparkling against the night sky. The city feels grand beyond grand. I personally prefer this view to the Eiffel Tower itself. From here, you can see the city's layout, the long avenues, and the monuments perfectly by night. There's a quiet energy at the top where people pause and soak in the city of light. The winding narrow staircases and the engravings inside the arch have such a rich sense of history. By the time you reach the top, you're rewarded with that unforgettable view. The Arc de Triomphe is my favourite landmark of Paris and quite possible the most magical one I've been to yet.
Another amazing monument in Paris that you must see if coming here to visit. The Arc is a masterpiece of sculptures like La Marseillaise, and has all the lists of generals and the battles they fought. This site also has the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from WWI with an eternal flame. You can purchase tickets to go to the top of the arc if you choose.
L'Arc de Triomphe was established by Napoleon to honor the French Army and those who died during the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars. It also serves as a memorial for unknown soldiers from World War I with an eternal flame that burns in remembrance of all unidentified soldiers who died in both World Wars. My boyfriend and I took the M1 and exited Charles de Gaulle-Etoile to get to the L'Arc de Triomphe and took the 73 bus on our trip back. This landmark looks best from across the street. If you want to get closer to see it up close, please take 2 stairwells from across the street to access the tunnel to cross over to the L'Arc de Triomphe. I hear there are many accidents from tourists trying to cross from the street side. This roundable is really hectic so I can see how it is not safe to cross. The Arc is in the center of Place Charles du Gaulle's 12 grand avenues that light up like a star, hence the etoile. Designed by Jean-Francois-Therese Chalgrin, it was designed in a neoclassical style with symmetry and grandeur. It is a representation of harmony, power, and symbolism. To be completely honest, I was completely unaware of the history, prior to visiting. It was quite a learning experience for me and I was glad we came to pay respect to the soldiers who passed away.
Last summer was my third time to Paris (my first as an adult), and I don't recall ever going near the Arc de Triomphe, only seeing it from afar. As we had some business along les Champs-Élysées (going to the Apple store to purchase a cord for my computer), we naturally came across the Arc de Triomphe, which is located at Place Charles de Gaulle, the west terminus of les Champs-Élysées. The Arc de Triomphe is a 162.5 foot tall, 147.0 foot wide tall arch that was built between 1806 and 1836 and it honors those who fought a during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Due to the huge, chaotic, anxiety-inducing crowds, I once again decided to just admire it from afar. Also, the monument is in the center of a round-about with a dozen lanes of traffic. However, I have since learned that there is an underground tunnel leading to the arch so next time I am in Paris, I may finally visit it up close. More than tripled in entry price over the last 15 years the value of climbing to the top is subjective, especially after navigating the odd underground route to get there. At 164 feet tall, and now 190 years old, the marble construction remains immaculate as a tribute to Napoleon told in the small museum.
Nice view of the city, I heard it's a great place for sunset. Make sure you buy tix online ahead of time. There are 284 spiral steps, it was a tough climb. Supposedly there's an elevator for the disabled but I didn't see it. Make sure you use the underground tunnel (Passage du Souvenir) from Champs-Elysees side to cross traffic. No backpacks larger than 40x40x20 and no tripod/selfie sticks allowed, there are no lockers available.
If you ask me, among the definitive landmarks in Paris, this one is the most underrated. I think it depends on when you see it on your vacation. In the classic musical "Funny Face", Fred Astaire opened the bouncy "Bonjour Paris" by jauntily walking away from it on the Champs-Elysses and ending at the Eiffel Tower. Jamie W and I made the smarter move and closed our trip here. What's the difference you may ask? Well, it's because when you get to the top, you can see many of the landmarks you already visited. I've never actually been here. I really thought we had to brave the multiple roundabout traffic, but no, there was a convenient and clean underground passage. We had bought tickets in advance for 22€ each. As we readied to take the stairs, a courteous young man asked me if I'd prefer using the elevator. I didn't know it was even an option, so we glided about three flights short of the top of the arch with ease. Actually it stopped on the floor where we could peruse the informative museum. There was also a surprisingly large gift shop chock full of quality souvenirs. The climax obviously was the observatory rooftop. No surprise there were quite a few tourists here but not nearly the zoo at the Eiffel Tower or in front of the Mona Lisa at the Louvre. We could see Place de la Concorde at one end and the modern La Defense at the other. The Eiffel Tower is within clear view (and vice-versa) as well as Sacre-Coeur. The Arc de Triomphe is a monument honoring those who fought for France, especially in the Napoleonic Wars, located at the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle where 12 avenues, including the Champs-Élysées, converge. Commissioned by Napoleon I in 1806, it features many sculptures like La Marseillaise, lists of generals and battles, and (my highlight) houses the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from WWI with an eternal flame. Visitors can climb (or take an elevator for some) to the top for panoramic city views and explore a museum inside.
Fairly cool night with a light and intermittent breeze in Paris. The streets while somewhat crowded, were clean and there was sufficient enough space. Extremely enjoyable time in December. Most stores were open as well as cafe's, boulangeries (bakeries) and patisseries (pastry shops). People of the city are extremely friendly and welcoming. Neoclassical architecture such as the Arch de Triomphe must be seen in person. Pictures alone can't possibly convey the size and splendor. It took 30 years to create this wonderment...looking forward to visiting again in the Spring or early Fall when I have more time to properly appreciate this piece of work along with the multitudes of others throughout this beautiful and alluring city.
L'Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile or Arc de Triomphe is one of the most iconic monuments in Paris. The Arc de Triomphe honors those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars and was built in the early 19th century. Just a great landmark with lots of history - so lots of the history is written somewhere so I won't go on about it. As a tourist, I didn't spend much time here, but it was astonishing to see and stand underneath. It's located at the end of the Avenue de Champs-Élysées - one of the most famous luxury shopping areas in the world. The sculptures and the structure itself is truly a sight to behold. Heck, I'm even pretty amazed at the copy version at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. It's free to see and walk up to and since at the time of my visit, I was on a pretty strict budget, I thought it would be great to see after walking along the Champs-Élysées. The Tome of the Unknown Soldier is also another fun site to see and its' located underneath the Arc De Triomphe. I consider it a privilege and myself so fortunate that I was able to see this place. Okay, okay, let's get to the real reason I'm posting and writing this review now other than posterity (as I visited this place years ago). This is part of my John Wick 4 nostalgia tour. I wanted to put this up when I first watched the movie in theaters, but didn't for whatever reason. But almost every scene in Paris in the movie was a place I visited during my Paris trip. Watching that movie really wanted me to revisit Paris again and retrace my steps as well as the steps in the film. This scene in particular in the roundabout was one of the most fun, albeit unbelievable action sequences I've seen in any movie. It was in the portion of the movie that paid homage to The Warriors another movie I am fond of.
If you want to have a civil disagreement with your spouse in a Paris Metro station this is the place to do it. I told my wife we stay in the Metro station and follow the signs to the Arc. She said we exit the station, which we did because I always do what she says. Well........we ended up across the roundabout/ street from the Arc. Pro tip. Never attempt to cross to get to the Arc. You will be playing a real life game of Frogger. Anyway the Arc is beautiful. Definitely a must visit.
The Arc de Triomphe is a must stop on your visit to Paris. Not only does it hold a lot of historical significance in regards to Naploean but it is crazy to watch the driving happening around it. As other reviews have stated, in order to go on the tour or get an up close view you must take the tunnel and go under the street in order to get to the arc. Trying to get across the street is a gutsy move and one that puts you in harm's way. Scarily enough we did see one foreign traveler make the trek and it was a close call for her. This is NOT your typical round about. The view from across the street is impressive enough bit standing at the base you see the intricate carving and it is quite breathtaking. There is an eternal flame under the Arc as well, dedicated to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Quite a powerful reminder even in this time. Happy travels! read more
The Arc de Triomphe is a must-do activity while visiting Paris. Not only are there great photo opportunities and a ton of history inside & out of the Arc, but you'll also be treated to one of the best views of Paris and the Eiffel Tower in the city! When visiting the Arc de Triomphe, make sure you wear comfortable shoes if you plan to go to the top. The only way up is to climb its 40 stairs, but you will be well rewarded for your efforts! Once you reach the top, you'll have an excellent view of the Eiffel Tower, Av. des Champs-Elysees, Place Charles de Gaulle (traffic circle), and he Grande Arche. On the way back down, there is also a military museum you can visit. We would recommend buying a Paris Pass before going, that way you can avoid the line to buy a ticket and climb the tower (the Pass also works at many of the other tourist attractions in Paris). Also, DO NOT try to cross the traffic circle to the tower (you won't make it), there is a tunnel that goes underneath the traffic to avoid any pedestrian accidents. Arc de Triomphe is one of sight seeing attraction and must see when visiting Paris. The admission included in Pair Pass. The Arc is a superb monument, we climbed the spiral staircase to the top and views are marvelous. At the top of the stairs. there is a small museum, gift shop and washroom. Also, another extra stairs to the top of the Arc. Once we went out, we found 360 views were incredible. Most tourists spent time to take photos, of coz, we're not the exception. Glad they have the elevator to go down to the ground floor. It's only our first attraction, it would be too tiring to continue our next few attractions. read more

We walked down to the Arc de Triomphe, one of the most famous monuments in Paris that honors those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. The names of all French victories and generals are inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I. The Arc stands at the western end of the world-famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées. It made for a great photo stop before a small bit of shopping along the Champs-Élysées before we made our way over to the Catacombs. read more

B and I got tickets to climb the Arc de Triomphe. However, we had a bottle of wine in our bag and we were not allowed to leave it at the bottom or take it with us. We had no choice but to leave and not to climb it. Wasted the tickets. It was ok! I didn't really want to climb it anyways. I was actually exhausted with the long day. Just the bottom is really beautiful and lots to see. The Arc de Triomphe is a very detailed artwork. I highly recommend visiting it. There are many petite Triomphes across Paris that are all very similar to it. read more
The last time I was in Paris, I only had the chance to leave the Métro, come above ground and admire the arch, and then go back down and continue on my way. This time I was going to do it all. Several Métro lines run by the L'arc and with the traffic on the circle heavy and not controlled by any lights, plan on taking one of two short paths under the Place d'Étoile to get to the arch. I got in a queue to buy my ticket to the top and soon was ascending 284 steps in a spiral staircase. Once at the top, you have a grand view of all of Paris from Montparnasse to the Eiffel Tower to Montmartre and the La Défense--the newer section of Paris. I was so taken by the view that I could have stayed longer but one only has so much time in the city of lights. I would put this near the top of any list of things you want to see in Paris. read more

Iconic - Absolutely Mandatory - Probably Worth it - Possibly Few memorials and monuments in Paris are as recognizable and symbolic as the Arc de Triomphe. We planned our visit to the west-end of Champs-Elysées and Place de l'Etoile (now Place Charles de Gaulle) to specifically check out the indoor museum and night panoramic views from the Arc de Triomphe. Watching the brilliant light show of the Tour de Eiffel about 1.5 miles (2.5km) away was the highlight, but the twinkling lights of 12 streets radiating from the bustling roundabout (especially Champs-Elysées) were pretty inspirational, too. Be prepared for lots of steps if you plan to go to the roof. It will not be for everyone. Just standing beneath the biggest arch in the world (reportedly) is inspiration enough while the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the arch is sobering and rekindled nightly at 6:30 p.m. Officially named Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile, Napoleon himself commissioned the neoclassical arch in 1806 to celebrate military victories in his heyday. It took 30 years (until 1836) for it to be completed. Along the way, the 164-foot (50 meter) tall arch evolved into a monument for soldiers of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Later, World War I and II veterans were memorialized at the arch. Our second visit to Paris and another glimpse at this piece of history ... I'm so glad it's survived .. I definite must see. It's very impressive and lovely at night. We didn't get to go inside and had to see it from a bus this time and from the effel tower view. Our first visit we had a better look and the tour stopped there. read more

I was blown away by the sheer size of it as I have only seen it in pictures and movies. Each sculpture is unlike anything I have seen and could have stayed there for hours studying every detail. However, being with an uninterested, tired (Day 8 of our 14-day vacation) 6 year old I was only able to get a few pictures and move on. I know I will be back since I have adopted Paris as my second home and next time, I will really soak in every inch of this stunning masterpiece! read more

Arc de Triomphe. I thought it was just an arc, but it was bigger than I imagined. I used "bigbus" while listening to the in-house announcement guide, and it was very powerful. I didn't go inside, but I still feel that I had a good sightseeing. read more

If you are in Paris, you have to check out this iconic landmark located at the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle. The Arc de Triomphe honors those who fought and died in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars. Beneath its vault lies the tomb of the soldiers from World War I. Pls allow about 2 hours to observe from below and at the top. The view is amazing and so breathtaking for a 360 view of Paris. Tips: 1. I would recommend shopping at Champs Elysees before heading up to the monument. Now don't be crazy like i did and run across the street to the monument. There is an under ground tunnel that that will connect to the Arc. From there you can observe the French flag and pay some respect for all the soldiers whom have fought and died for France. 2. If you made it over to the monument, you gotta go all the way to the top. There is a 17 Euros fee to be allowed to the top. Make sure you are fit. There is no elevator so the only way up and down is through a circular staircase that allows for 1 person. There will be a sight wait to be allowed to the top since there is only 1 staircase. It can feel claustrophobic since there will be someone ahead and behind you. I am in a pretty good shape and do miles all the time, but I was pooped once i got to the top. Depending on the groups pace, it can take between 15- 25 mins. It's worth the work out once you get to the top. 3. Come when it's close to the sunset. You will be able to enjoy a better panorama view than at the Eiffel tower. A cool fact about the Arc is the center where the Paris's famous landmarks were designed to line straight up to the Arc. It's an awesome aerial view from the top and it is a bit chilly. So make sure you bring a jacket. The photo op is amazing and it was breathless and worth climbing the stairs. read more
Designed by Napoleon, it's only from the roof of the Arc de Triomphe can you really appreciate just how intricately beautiful that all 12 surrounding avenues triumphantly end at the famous death defying traffic circle below. That's what I call making a entrance & a fashion statement! For me, The Arc de Triomphe is the gateway & center of the universe leading to the most fabulously fashionable shopping street in the world, the Champs Élysées. Thank you very much Napoleon. I like his sense of style ;) It is quite remarkable & I always enjoy passing thru it when I am in need of some fancy new fashion duds. It's a honorary beacon & reminder of Napoleon's victorious strategies of war & also a inspiration when planning my strategic boutique stops for a new tailored jacket or perfect LBD, handbag, accessories, ok, all of it! :)) Catching the sunset from the top is a MUST see in Paris, especially after setting ablaze your credit cards, during your afternoon shopping therapy session on the Champs Élysées. After you have climbed the winding stairs to the top, exhausted all the breathtaking Parisian city views, watched the most romantic sunset of all time with all of Paris as a backdrop & you realize your completely exhausted & famished, check out the Village de' Ung for some Chinese food around the corner at 10 rue Jean Mermoz. Paris is a remarkable city with remarkable architecture and fantastic people. The Arch was the first of these magnificent buildings and monuments that we visited. As you approach you can see just how big it is. Massive and beautiful. There was such elegance to this incredible structure and to walk around and through this structure. This was the only place where I did not have to wait on line because we bought a city pass prior to the trip and it was well worth it. I started the climb (around 275 steps) and was surprised how quickly I made it to the top. There was plenty of space to move around an d take pictures. Honestly, I could not stop, every angle, and every side had a unique and extraordinary. After spending quite a bit of time and taking a lot of pictures, I started my trip down. There were a few small exhibits that you could peruse but nothing matches the incredible view. If you go to Paris you must make sure that you allow enough time to go to the top and enjoy this magnificent structure. read more
The Arc De Triomphe is absolutely gorgeous. This place is kinda what reminds you of the historical context that Paris has, just amazing. The viewing angles of the Arc are awesome from a ton of different streets within the greater Paris area. The underground passage to the Arc is great as it puts you out of the crazy driving that takes place in Paris. The arc is essentially surrounded by a huge roundabout which makes for some interesting car watching if you ask me... You can also go to the top of the Arc Which provides an excellent vantage point to view the sights of Paris. Overall, this place is packed with tourists but is a must see while in the city. Pros- Architecture Beauty Picturesque History associate with Viewing angles View from the top Central to everything Excellent landmark for meeting friends etc... Location: Exit: Metro #1, 2 & 6, "Charles de-Gaulle Etoile". It is right outside the metro station. There are a several exits so check the sign before you exit the station. Admission: Free, unless you want to check out the museum and go up to the rooftop, 9.5 euro. Definitely have to check it out during the day & night. Very different feel. It is such a landmark in Paris, always have tourists around the area. Use the underground path to across the street to Acr de Triomphe. It is fascinating to see it up close. read more

As spectacular at the pictures make it seem. The engraving on the arc is intricate and what surprised me what the burning flame in the middle of the arc that is lit every morning in remembrance of unknown soldiers. That gives the arc an even better meaning than just a triumphant arc. read more
The Arc de Triomphe is best for snapping photos of the city from the center of it - the view of La Defense is impressive! Rooftop access costs money, so get a Museum Pass if you plan on going to other museum-like places. Besides the rooftop, admission gets you access to top-floor exhibits and the gift shop. Be careful about the tight winding staircase, it's higher than it looks. Lines weren't bad when I was last there, but be wary of crowds. read more

Ah, when in Paris, this Arc is one of the must visit places to say hello to! If you want to go up the strenuous steps, the top view of the city's landscape is simply breathtaking! I personally think it looks better at night when it is glowing! It exudes a charm that adds to the ambiance of Paris! read more
Climbing up the Arc de Triomphe is a must do in Paris. Warning : There are a whole lot of stairs, tightly winding up to the top. Word is there is a lift you can take to the top but it wasn't operational on the day I went with friends. So be advised it may not always be an option. On the main floor they have a gift shop, some interesting museum style items plus a cool camera screen that shows you the activity directly below you. Loved it! If you walk up an additional 46 stairs to the top, you can go outside and take in the views. I think the view is even better here than the Eiffel Tower because you can see the streets branching out from roundabout, including Champs Elysees. We could also see Sacred Heart way out in the distance which was cool. Admission is covered in the Paris Pass so that was a plus. Plan to spend hour here. Pro-Tip: There is an underground passage to the Arc. My friends and I had no idea and we ran across the insane roundabout both ways. Eek! Second pro-tip: It looks even more gorgeous at night illuminated. read more
What an awesome place. Paris started off to a rocky start, but after hitting this place things started heading in the right direction. Viewing the Arch is free. However, if you want to climb to the top it's 12 euros and let me tell you, it's a lot of steps. You'll be out of breath by the time it's done. With that being said, the view is spectacular and Napoleon would be proud. If you're coming to Paris this is a much see, and believe me you won't regret it. read more

It was just okay! It's one of those instagrammable historic structures in Paris. Had to stop here for a photo op. It's located in a middle of a busy intersection, so if you want to take pictures; rapidly snap a bunch of them with your iPhone, and delete the ones that have cars and buses. Once you get your glamour shot, move on. It is prettier at night though. read more
Without a doubt, one of the absolute musts of a visit to Paris, the Arc is a world-famous sightseeing destination. And that's more than obvious when you're here, because the tour buses all stop and the place, even on a cold and windy day, is mobbed. There are plenty of great places around the Place Charles de Gaulle (also known as the Place de l'Étoile) for getting pictures of the massive block of marble. Don't worry about the traffic, because there is an underground tunnel that will bring you right up to it without dodging any of those crazy French drivers. The Arc is much bigger in real life than you would expect, so prepare to be dazzled. Get lots and lots of pictures and realize that yes, this is a war memorial. Lots of people have died for La France around the world and this is dedicated to their sacrifice. There is an observation deck above (not free), if you want to get some amazing pictures, but the day I visited, it was way too cold and wet and windy. Easily accessible by Metro, it is the Étoile stop on the 1, 2 and 6 lines. read more
After finally clearing the global brands hell obstacle course that was the Champs Elysees, it was nice to come across this huge, imposing edifice. My friends and I were beginning to wonder how the hell we were supposed to get to it with all the roundabout traffic and thankfully saw the underground passageway sign just in time. We did see this one couple make a run for it and it looked pretty harrowing; don't be that couple. It's pretty amazing to look at it up close; there are all kinds of cool carvings and also a memorial dedicated to the recent Paris bombings as well. Worth the visit in our book. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Very impressive monument in the heart of an impressive city. read more

In A Nutshell: -The Arc de Triomphe is a world-famous intersection in Paris. -If you want to see it you need to walk down a tunnel, which avoids all that traffic above. -Pay 12 euro to enter. -I took the long, winding staircase up to the top & you'll get a nice workout. -The view is worth the price you paid. -360° of all of Paris w/ clear views of all 12 avenues, which intersect it & make it a unique roundabout. Classic Paris. This is a great way to start the day. Start up here and check it out. I wouldn't do more than taking some pictures of it and moving on thorough. I think there is a tour that covers it. It is at the north side of town and you can then walk all the great shopping as you head back into the heart of Paris. Very cool building and full of great history. Before you go maybe do a quick refresher on its significance. A must but certainly not the best of Paris. read more
I would like to dedicate my 900th review on one of many Paris's historical landmarks Arc de Triomphe. Most recently when I vacationed in Paris this monument was on top of my list of destinations due in part from reading and watching documentaries of its history. To see that the Germans went in the Arch when they invaded France during World War 2 was quite interesting. Also, it was passage a way for French and Allies victory marches around and under the Arch after the world wars. The tour bus I was in mentioned that an airplane flew through it as well, which is dare devilish. For a better photo opportunity, I do recommend taking a picture at the narrow center divider, but be very cautious of traffic around you near the roundabout. The amazing design and architecture overlooks the Avenue Champs Elysees. Other than the ionic Eiffel Tower, this historic Arch is a Napoleon Bonaparte finesse! read more
Best view in Paris. You buy tickets underground, then take the dizzying steps up to the top. Under 18 tickets are free, and they don't ID you... Hence my 19 year old sister got in free no problem. My sister claims the best times to go to the top of the Arc is dusk/sunset or when the sun has completely set. Since it was a cloudy day, we waited until the lights came on at the Arc. Starting at 10 pm, the Eiffel Tower will light up at the top of every hour for 5 minutes, so get your cameras ready. The stairs are winding, which threw off my hungover self. I slipped and fell coming down. So be sure to hold on to the handrails... My tailbone is feeling the repercussions. There's a small plaza area before you head to the top of the arc that allows you to check out the history of the arc. There's also a small gift shop with overpriced souvenirs, yay! A priceless experience. Be sure to take the time and bit of money to explore because pictures alone cannot do the view of Paris at night justice. read more
A must in Paris. Located in the heart of Paris, right on the Avenue des Champs-Élysée this is a must see for the young, old and everyone in between. It is one of the most famous monuments in Paris that honors all who fought and died in the French Revolution, but I digress, and this is not a history lesson. It's always busy, the best time to go is before noon. Earlier in the morning. On the day I went the service elevator was down so you had two options, climb 28 floors or don't. We climbed and it was well worth it. Breathtaking views can be found once you ascend. Truly breathtaking and unforgettable. Admire the architecture from below. Careful on your way down, the stairway is circular. Take the time to walk the famous Champs-Élysée since you are here. read more
Another iconic monument of Paris. If you haven't seen the Arc de Triomphe or walked up and down Champs-Elysees, did you even visit Paris? Most people take a picture of the Arc by standing on the slim little island in the middle of the street, but apparently you can go to the top of the Arc as well. I never tried going up, but it looks really cool! But I hate crowded places so I passed on that opportunity. This street is famous for all of its stores, restaurants, and bakeries! Though I recommend visiting Laduree and Pierre Herme, I would suggest I dining at a restaurant on the smaller streets because the ones actually on Champs-Elysees are tourist traps that aren't great and really expensive. read more
I came to the Arc of Triumph both in the daytime and evening. I have to say that I like to evening view a lot better. We were in Paris for a couple days and didn't have a lot of time to see everything. We did not go inside the arc, we just went to see it and take some photos. The structure itself is very impressive. Because I was so tired from the rest of our very physically challenging vacation, by the time we made it here, I was out of steam and decided not to go up when I heard there were many steps to get to the top. Now reading some of the reviews I am actually sorry that I did not make the effort to go up and see the view of the city. So the best of price I can give you is not to go to tired, and if you are tired, just suck it up and make the effort to see it in all it's glory read more

Always beautiful to learn the great history in the area you're visiting. Coming from the 18th arrondissement via metro was super easy and the crowds were t too bad early in the a.m. I forgot how many stairs it took to get to the top and it seems like they have done a bit of renovation and changes since I was here last year. Not as many stops for history reading, but with the weather horribly hot, and this being made of stone, there was absolutely no ventilation until you made it to the top outside. Still, once you're up there it's a beautiful view of the city and all the major landmarks. A must see as a tourist. read more
