Gordon Ramsay did not disappoint! 2 Michelin Stars is definitely well deserved! Impeccable service, amazing presentation, great food. The cheese cart with the amazing array of yummy cheeses to choose, yes please. Their namesake is one of only a few in existence and very rare lobster press that squirts out all the juices that is used to make the sauce in the lobby dish. It was excellent. Probably the best restaurant out of ALL 100+ or so restaurants we visited during our France vacation (including 8+ other Michelin starred establishments). Well really a tie- but Paul Bucose, while excellent, has nostalgia going for it... Neither of us like Gordon Ramsey- not even a little bit. I mean, since when do Brits make great food anyway, ya know? But, alas, every single aspect of this restaurant was Perfect, and that's "Perfect" with a big 'ol capital "P". We were the first to arrive. The dining room... grand and formal and wonderful. It's modern elegance personified- not stuffy or old fashioned at all. Even better, the tables are so far apart it's like dining in your own mansion's dining room. And the service- it's like watching the ballet. Coordinated and responsive, without being overly formal or overtly casual. Your food appears and then the servers fade into the background. Then they suddenly appear again when you need them, only to disapparate once again when you don't. And finally the food... as I'm sure you know the menu changes with the season. But we almost- almost- ordered a second foie gras. If you're lucky this app will still be available when you're there. The other dishes were also executed perfectly- even if they were not overwhelmingly creative. I never say this (because it's stupid) but if I could give this restaurant another star I surely would... This is the best restaurant service I have ever received. Put it on your bucket list! Someone said it was like dining at a mansion and I agree. Dining time was 3+ hrs and the food was above average. I went with the a la carte option and chose the lobster for my entree, it was was underwhelming. But keep in mind that my standard for lobsters is up there . The foie gras albeit a small portion was very tasty. Overall, it was worth the experience. Set me back a few hundred euros tho haha. read more

The wife and I had occasion to have dinner here during a recent visit to Bordeaux. Given that this is a Michelin two star restaurant, we expected an above average dining experience, and Gordon Ramsay didn't disappoint. Food and service were top notch, and the ambiance was first rate. Dinner here is not an inexpensive occasion, but given the quality of our meal, I have no complaints about the price tag for our dinner out. Next time we're back in Bordeaux, we will likely try to visit again. read more

Deducted one star because they coyly offered a $45/person cheese plate (not included in the prix fix menu) and the wine pairing. Should either include with the already expensive price or be upfront about the extra cost of the cheese plate (which wasn't worth the thin slices of cheese they gave us). At first, I was a little skeptical because I wasn't quite sure what Gordon Ramsay was doing with a restaurant in Bordeaux, but I guess he helped design the menu. In addition, he's the source of this famous silver lobster press that the restaurant is named after (only 6 exist in the world). Normally, I would do the tasting menu, but the signature lobster dish using the pressoir de argent was a la carte, so we ordered a la carte. They had a good number of wines by the glass, which was a little more unusual than at some of the other higher end places, so we took advantage of this to try more by the glass. They ranged from €18-160, but most were in the €20-50 range. Wines we tried - - NV Bereche et Fils Brut reserve to start - 2000 Saint Julien from Sarget de Gruaud Larose - 2011 Volnay from Domaine Jean Marc Boillot - our favorite from the night - 2014 St. Joseph Amuses: - Salmon and caviar - Lobster and apple tart (because I don't like foie gras) - Foie gras tart - the standard one - Warm pata negra wrapped around cream cheese Bread service: 4 to choose from. I went with the baguette (my favorite), the focaccia (not like a traditional Ligurian focaccia), and one made with beer. Next amuse: Fresh goat cheese with organic vegetables and croutons - this was basically a salad course. The vegetables were super fresh/ Starters: - Confit organic egg: a soft cooked runny egg with cep, ham, pork belly, smoked chestnuts, and an onion velouté. This was great for dipping using the baguette - Saint-Jean-de-Luz spider crab: with avocado, pomelo, coriander, radishes and citrus dressing. The avocado slices were arranged really beautifully and required some major knife skills. This was a much lighter starter Mains: - Lobster: from the 'press' cooked with lemon grass, sweetcorn, zucchini. It's wheeled over on a cart, and the lobster is in a stone pot still steaming. The shells, lemongrass, and some other herbs get pressed to create the lobster jus for the sauce. Then they reduce the sauce tableside, and it has really intense lobster flavor. The lobster tail and claw are then taken out of the shell and plated for you, with the sauce poured on top. After, they also bring a lobster consommé with verbena. As it infused more, it had almost a bit of Tom yum flavor. This was a nice clean broth to offset the richness of the lobster dish - Roasted veal, cep filled macaronis, artichoke, garlic and parsley. This is your more traditional dish with an intense meat jus reduction. We then shared 1 portion of cheese from the cart, though the portion was very generous. We recognized many of the cheeses and actually had a good discussion with our server about the cheeses. There were maybe 20-25 cheeses to choose from. At the end, they brought us a special dessert since we were celebrating our honeymoon. Mignardaises - the presentation of these tied in with the amuses, which was a nice way to round out the service - Coffee ice cream in white chocolate on a lollipop stick - Tarte Tatin - Mango tart with passion fruit When we left, they also gave us a box of madelines to take home, which was a nice final touch. Though the prices on the a la carte menu are on the higher side, you get so much other stuff that comes with the meal and experience. And remember that prices include tax and gratuity (though we added some additional gratuity for the generous cheese course). It's a more traditional old school feel with jackets required and a more formal dining room, but we found the staff to be unpretentious. It's definitely different from the places we typically dine at, but it was a great dining experience and is worth trying if you're looking for a nice dinner in Bordeaux. read more

This place is truly amazing and worth every penny. You will spend around 500 pp if you take advantage of the tasting menu and wine pairing (highly recommend both!) The only thing to consider if you do the tasting menu- in between entrees and dessert they will bring over cheeses to try that are not included. You will get 6 decent sized hunks of cheeses that are all incredible! However, if you do not finish the cheeses, you cannot taken them with you. My husband and I ate half the plate and would have loved to take home the remainder to finish in the morning but were not permitted. If you are only a couple, I may reconsider the cheese course. Eating at Le Pressor D'Argent was the culinary highlight for my sister and I. My sister and I decided to be surprised by the tasting menu which includes a variety of dishes from cheese and tomatoes to pigeon, oysters and duck ending with a pre-dessert and dessert followed by a final surprise. We also decided to allow the sommelier to pair the wines with all the dishes - Champagne, Chinon Blanc, 20 year old Tawny Port, gewurztraminer, etc. My sister is vegetarian - the chef catered the menu to her needs. My friend and I had dinner here while staying at the Intercontinental. Service was truy out of this world... every single person was incredibly friendly and helpful. They even modified the amuse bouche for us (my friend is meat eater and I'm a "pescatarian") and made sure we enjoyed everything. The maitre'd was had true old world charm and our main waiter looked like a prince straight out of a fairy tale. We were truly smitten over the service, the presentation (you must, MUST see the presentation for and try the pressed lobster) and every single dish that we had. We left so happy over the entire experience (with a really sweet parting gift - freshly baked Madeleines in a beautiful black box and bag in hand). We thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu at this marvelous restaurant. The experience is true French haute cuisine. The menu was an adventure. There were no lulls. The team covered all the bases.
