I loved the overall setup of the banquet hall. It felt intimate and fitting for a party of about 150-200 guests. The entryway included a coatcheck and multiple areas for bars to set up as well as activities for wedding guests. The inside hall itself was beautiful and spacious, allowing for both a ceremony as well as the reception to follow right afterwards. The staff here were just on top of it too in making sure we as guests were taken care of. I appreciated the staff making sure my special meal was provided throughout the evening and for also keeping our glasses full whenever the moment called. I like that there's an area for the bar that's outside in the lobby area for guests to get drinks. Once the reception started, they moved the bar inside the hall. The hall is massive and very spacious. Seats and tables were very comfortable. Staff were very nice. I also saw one manager running around with a walkie talkie to ensure the night was running smoothly with the kitchen and servers. The washrooms were clean and tidy. Lots of stalls in the women's washroom. There's an upstairs as well with a balcony, which I'm assuming is where the bridal suite is. Food wise, the quality was OK. I was hoping the food was better actually. The bread rolls were very hard. Salad and lasagna were good. And the chicken and beef were decent as well. I think dessert was a chocolate brownie cake, which was too sweet. The staff were efficient and kept refilling our water. There's lots of parking outside the venue. And there's a small hut outside for people to hang out as well. The only downside at banquet halls is how thin the walls are. When we were listening to the speeches, you can hear the party next door blasting their music. The lobby and the main room with lights dim does make it a challenge to take a selfie without flash. So get a good professional photographer to capture moments.

DO NOT BOOK THIS BANQUET HALL - Horrible Experience from Start to Finish…read more Our experience with this banquet hall was a complete disaster, and I would never recommend it to anyone, especially not for an important event like a wedding. Let's start with the bridal room -- or what they claim is a bridal room. When I asked Jeet to direct me to it, he told a staff member in Hindi to "clean it before taking her." I was then led down to the end of a dirty basement hallway and shown a few tiny, stuffy rooms with no AC and one barely working fan. It was one of the most disgusting spaces I've ever seen -- completely inappropriate for any bride. Next, the decor situation was a mess. We had hired a third-party vendor to decorate, but Jeet failed to remove decorations from a previous event. Our team had to work around their leftover decor, which made setup extremely cramped and chaotic. As guests began arriving, the carpets were still dirty. I had to ask the manager 3-4 times to get someone to vacuum, and by the time they did, it was already too late -- guests were walking in as a worker was vacuuming the floor. Jeet actually told us to keep the guests outside while they finished cleaning. Unbelievable. We were also charged extra -- a few hundred dollars -- for microphone and speaker use because we had organized speeches. However, the sound system didn't work at all. When we notified Jeet, he brushed it off saying they were "working on it" and asked us to wait. Obviously, we couldn't delay the entire event while they took their time trying to fix it. As for the food, we were told we'd receive authentic Afghan food from their partner, Riaz Catering. What we got was anything but Afghan cuisine. The food was bland and disappointing -- most of our guests didn't even eat. Later we realized that another Indian party downstairs had been served the exact same food, falsely labeled as Afghan. On top of that, they just left the food out all night without properly storing or managing it. To make matters worse, the temperature inside the hall kept rising throughout the night. While the AC was working in the beginning, it was clear they were turning it down (or off) to cut costs, making the atmosphere uncomfortable for all our guests. In summary: 0/10. Jeet and the entire management team were completely unprofessional and disorganized. From the venue conditions to the service and food -- everything was below acceptable standards. Do not waste your time, money, or peace of mind booking this hall. You will be disappointed and frustrated, just like we were.

This banquet hall is located in the same plaza as Zauq, which is a couple of stores down. Parking can be extremely busy, so it was recommended to carpool with colleagues. I drove my intern over here. We had no problem finding a parking spot steps away from the main entrance. The banquet hall is pretty. Flowers in vases greet you. We had a check-in reception area a few steps away from the main entrance. Our office has roughly 200 people. We all fit in nicely at Empress Hall. It had huge, round tables that were nicely decorated. There were a couple of Lindt chocolates for each guest. Nice! Meals were buffet-style. I chose the perfect table. Ours was one of the first ones called by number to hit the food lineup. Yay! The food is mostly Italian. I enjoyed the penne pasta with veggies. I loved the roasted chicken with mushroom sauce. There were veggies. The round roasted potatoes were so good. There was also an eggplant parmigiana for folks who requested a vegetarian meal. Our manager said to the female server that he wasn't a vegetarian, but wanted one. She denied his request, which was kind of funny, but made sense. The food was yummy. I was stuffed, but wanted dessert. I went overboard with my plate of sweets. I got two freshly baked cookies. They were the best and tasted homemade. I also indulged in chocolate cake, a Portuguese egg tart, and carrot cake. To make it look like I was eating healthy, I got some cantaloupe slices, to balance my guilt out a bit. We had pitchers of water and Coke at our table. I tend to drink Diet Coke, as regular Coke is too sweet. This pitcher was watered down that I was good with it. I was probably the only person who drank it. There was juice, coffee, and tea behind us. I got this fruity juice drink that was yummy. We had games and raffles afterwards. This hall is roomy for all these activities. We were supposed to have a dance. I have a feeling that we had all eaten so much that we simply couldn't budge. There are two sets of washrooms for men and women at this banquet hall. They were clean and the mirrors were big. It was a perfect venue for our Christmas party. My team had a ton of fun. Thankfully Maple Banquet Hall was available and Tunde really sold me on the idea. I came in when it was decorated it was lovely. It looks like your typical banquet hall, which was something I initially didn't want but I realized would provide us with the comfort and ease of a celebration for a winter reception. Tunde gave me the flexibility of letting her know napkin colours and last-minute details a week before the actual wedding. We sat down earlier and mapped out what I would possibly want and wrote it all out. She left clear instructions for the people who were setting up since she wouldn't be there that day and wanted to have everything go as planned. Our wedding was a smaller affair and so we booked the Princess Hall but added seats to the max capacity. It was an intimate affair and wonderfully cozy. The decor was absolutely stunning and Tunde did an excellent job working it out with me and my budget. Everything was exactly as we had discussed. I know the washrooms got a lot of feedback on yelp but I found them fine (maybe they renovated?). My one issue was that because we had the smaller hall and there were events happening on either side of us, my husband and I didn't really have a bridal suite. Instead we were given the office which had windows on either side that people could see into, which made outfit changes extremely difficult.

The venue itself was unique, easy to find on King Street, and had lots of space to move around in - there were two floors that we had access to. Loved the solarium area of the upstairs part of the space, which had lighted trees set up in it and overlooked a gorgeous little parkette with a water fall. They also had amazing pieces of art on the wall and had tables set up with various colour schemes for consideration. We were also treated to many passed appetizers they make in house while viewing the space. All were very good however my fave were the crispy wrapped shrimp, so delicious! The staff representing the venue were very friendly and polite, making sure we were attended to and answering any questions we had. A great venue to look into if you would like to throw a party in a unique space in Toronto with great food/drink options!

There's affordable parking around the area. It was awkward to be told that the coat checks are at the back of the venue, because you had to walk down the aisle and basically walk all the way to where the groom is getting ready. The chairs were not the most comfortable, and they were wooden, so they were quite noisy. Also, there is not a lot of seating, so many people are standing in the front area, even thought it was probably a wedding of less than 75 guests. The upper dining areas is nice; the solarium was bright and beautiful. However, the shape of the dining area is a giant ring, which means there isn't really a central place for the wedding couple/family to sit. Staff: Friendly staff, however they need to work on their attentiveness. Half of the table I was seated at was served, coffee/tea and the other half didn't get served. And no one was checking in on us. When we finally got the attention of one of the people, he directed us to ask a server instead (guess he wasn't a server?!). Food: Very good food. However, the…read morefrustration dealing with the venue from an operations perspective was so immense that I will never host an event here again. As a few examples of mismanagement of our event: Not informing our guests of the silent vegetarian option despite providing allergy list, overcharging us on our final bill incorrectly but insisting it was correct, sending our event info (with our personal information visible) to another party without an apology, chasing us for payment on dates that did not align with our contract. The level of unprofessionalism is appalling for a venue of this scale, but what pushed things over the top was the dismissive attitude that Derek took towards our concerns. As an example, when raising concerns that our final invoice matching our estimate exactly was impossible, Derek disregarded it as a "happy coincidence" despite further investigation showing that the venue had just billed us wrong. This type of tone, and lack of accountability, was consistent in all our communications with him. Mistakes happen, but the flippant attitude that Derek spoke to us with incredibly insulting. Had I known management was like this, we would have picked a different venue.
