Unfortunately, last Sunday (they opened a new show a night before), I walked over to check the new exhibit out. I found a note on the door "back in 10". Well, they were not back in 10, we waited for at least 15 - 20 minutes outside and no one showed up. They have the place opened just for 4 hours on Sundays. Shouldn't you stay in there during these 4 hours? At least I walked, so the inconvenience wasn't huge, but what if I've have driven there? Considering that parking is difficult on Lankershim. This isn't the 1st time it's happening, I want to support this place and love what they do, but please stay open during your business hours!

I'm my boyfriend's biggest fan whether it is of his highly-acheived career in the film industry as a Set Dresser or of his extremely talented drawing/illustrating skills (he has been featured in movies and TV). What does any of this lovey-dovey crap have to do with 800 Gallery? Don't fret my fellow-Yelpers, I was just getting to that! 800 Gallery is one of the many art galleries located in the NoHo Arts District. What makes this gallery stand out amongst its peers? Instead of just being an art gallery which features art shows and exhibits by artists based on a theme or contest; Gallery 800 has a catch: all of the artist exhibitors are members of the Art Directors Guild IATSE 800 (get it? Gallery 800? The union number of 800?). It is a wonderful way for members of the film and TV industry whom work behind the cameras to showcase their artistic flair and aptitude. Gallery 800 not only hosts exhibitions and receptions; but it works in conjunction with the Local 800 to convert Tuesday nights into an artistic and stress relief by offering drawing workshops at the nearby Local 800 building on Ventura Blvd in Studio City. For $10/night, entertainment industry professionals (or not. You DON'T have to be the member of any union. You can be Joe Schmo off the street); can spend a couple hours fine-tuning their drawing/illustrating skills while also sharing and networking with others. As for the receptions at 800 Gallery, they don't have the usual stuck-up and pretentious quality to them. I attend many art events and this was one of the first times that it felt like everyone was actually flowing with creativity versus just a supposed supporter of art AKA rich snob. Gallery 800 is retaining art at its best. Plus, with yummy refreshments (chips & salsa, veggie platters, cookies, donation-only wine/beer/soda bar), your tummy will be pleased too. If you see the gallery curator Denis Olsen, feel free to ask him questions. He is very knowledgeable. Whether you are in the entertainment industry or not, Gallery 800 stands out amongst the art gallery crowd. Call it a themed gallery or just call it a creative hub, you will be happy to simply call it at all.

Robert talantivy great teacher and artist, having a lot of patience and a good heart. In his classes, I feel very comfortable and cozy. He is very attentive to his students always continue a cup of delicious Armenian coffee with Russians sweets or a cup of delicious tea. Robert works with children and adults. I am very thankful that I met really masters of their craft! If you want to learn how to draw or move in to your skill, the best teacher you can not find in LA.

I passed by Lankershim Arts Center many, many times, but never went inside, till recently, when I…read morenoticed the poster of an art exhibit that seemed super cool to me - Jaroslav "Jerry" Gebr, a Czech artist and a refugee who escaped Prague during the early communism time. His cool life and talent is showcased by the exhibit of his work, organized by Gallery 800 and the Art Directors Guild. Jerry was the artist behind many painting featured in many Universal movies and tv shows ("Columbo", "Murder She Wrote", "Night Gallery"). He also created poster art for movies like: "Jaws", "The Sting", "Hook", among others. The Art center is closed till Thursday when they open it at Noon (till 8 pm), same on Fridays. On Saturdays and Sundays- 2 pm- 8 pm. Well, we went on a Sat. to see the exhibit (on view till March 4th) and the person who works for the gallery wasn't there. Are you kidding me? We were let in by somebody who rents the theater upstairs for auditions, so thanks to that nice gentleman, otherwise we wouldn't be able to enjoy a unique exhibit, full of wonderful art, paintings, stories, history, film history and not only. Gallery 800 needs to have somebody on duty all the time, the place is opened only for a few hours! They also need to advertise more their exhibits, they're great, free, LA people would like them if they would know about them. The space is nice, not huge, but decent size, airy. Upstairs, there's a theater, so that's a nice bonus. Street parking. I give this place a higher rating because I loved this exhibit and I hope they'll do more interesting things in the future. But you should be able to stop by anytime during regular hours, they need to make sure that'll happen. They sell some of the artwork, so you never know who comes in. Nice space, walking distance for me, so that's a plus, great exhibit. Hope Lankershim Art Center and Gallery 800 will organize more events, cool exhibits in the future.

They bring out wine and snacks and the owners are so super nice and always mingling. Plus the art they carry is always changing and really broadcasts to many different styles. I like that they sell prints of everything at a more affordable rate than the originals so everyone, including me, can enjoy the local art in their homes.

Books, greeting cards, jewelry, candles and so much more! The cashier was a friendly woman who told us about her brother that's a scuba diver in Florida. I fell in love with the sterling silver Leo earrings. I had to buy them! There were other zodiac signs as well. I might return and buy them for my friends and family as their birthday gifts. Came here to check out the art gallery and library grounds after work and was glad that they close…read moreon the later side. You really do feel the opulence as you drive through the mirador entrance up this long driveway to get to the library. Free parking but it does get packed since many people also park here to access the hiking trails next to the library. This is a beautiful library and many people do come here to study as I noticed most tables were filled. However, there is a loud buzzing sound from the lights but I guess it becomes background white noise if you are used to it. Portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Brand, their family and how the library was are on the library walls so you can learn more about how it all started. The art gallery this time around has an exhibit from Thinkspace, featuring artwork of over 70 artists, on now until March 29, 2025. I really enjoyed the art pieces and took photos of the ones that really impressed me. The grounds features Brand Park, the Japanese tea house (closes early like 3pm), Doctor's House, which is a historical house, and a couple of hiking trails. Overall, a cool place to check out and just 15 minutes away north from downtown Glendale if you need to grab a bite to eat.
