My dreams and aspirations in life is to be able to help others through the artistry of makeup. Makeup to me is empowering. You can transform into anything you want to be! I want to be able to transform others in becoming the best versions of themselves whether it's on their wedding day (Special occasions), performances, formal school dances, graduations, festivals, Halloween, job interviews, photo shoots and everyday life! Growing up I have ALWAYS been surrounded by makeup subconsciously. I grew up doing dance, cheerleading, theater, and taking advantage of the special day, Halloween! Being around all types of makeup gave me the desire to learn more about it. I'm constantly watching my friends and family do their makeup and literally glued to my computer watching YouTube videos or flipping through magazines to see different types of makeup looks. I'm always asking myself, "How do they do that?" But I was never able to get the courage to pick up a brush and try doing it myself. Which made me terrified to even attempt going into the makeup industry. Honestly, I never thought makeup could be a tangible career for me until I discovered L Makeup Institute. I was able to tour the school with Lisa (who was absolutely fabulous by the way & made me feel so welcomed & special) and I immediately fell in love. She answered all of my questions and doubts with a smile on her face and told me that I was in the right place. Touring the school made me realize that this is something I can do as a career because L Makeup Institute will help me prepare for the field and gain insight not only on beauty makeup, but airbrushing and special effects as well. I am 2 weeks away from graduating L Makeup Institute and I cannot begin to even explain how much I have loved every second of my journey. I starting looking into L Makeup my junior year in high school and Lisa kept in contact with me for an entire year and a half as we waited for me to graduate and finally be able to attend and once I did it has been a literal dream come true. My instructors were Jiteena, Chris, and I currently have Tom. I cannot express enough how much I love each and every one of them. Jiteena is not only extremely talented but she's like a second mom, she truly cares for each and every one of her students and will always go out of her way to make sure you are get the hang of everything and you truly succeed in this industry. Chris , again is amazingly talented and I appreciate how open she is with her students. She all about respect and getting us exactly where we need to be. Finally, Tom. He truly is passionate about his job and he teaches us nothing less than everything he knows. It is truly amazing how much our instructors want us to succeed and this school makes sure we have and learn everything we need to do just that. They even assure us they will keep in contact with us after we graduate and help us with anything we need to be more successful. The relationships I have built with my instructors I know will carry on forever and I am so grateful for them. If I could go back and relive this experience again I would however I cannot wait to graduate in 2 weeks. I recommend this school to anyone who sees a future in makeup Artistry. I came to L makeup Institute curious about becoming a makeup fx artist, it had been a dream I had since I was a child. I found the school upon hearing about it from a friend and was very nervous about meeting them and starting a new venture. All my fears were absolved upon meeting their staff and talking about the field. Lissette and Kyle (owners) were very assuring and knowledgable about whats going on in the industry today. Kayla was super friendly and full of information about classes and where I should start. I enrolled in the Master Makeup SFX program which encompassed beauty and Makeup FX together, having no prior knowledge of either this was a great place to start for me. The expirience that I had recieved upon completing the program was seriously one of the most exciting and fulfilling expiriences I have ever had. From learning beauty makeup with Jessica , airbrushing with Ragen and of course making monsters with Tom, I can definitly say they have some very passionate teachers here that want nothing more for you than to succeed. These guys made it awesome to come to school and wanna get the most out of it. I was honestly bummed when it was all over haha. If your planning on starting this field or just even curious about it all, do yourself a favor and atleast poke your head in and check it out you wont regret it. Here's my take on L Makeup Institute. It's a SCAM! Big Ol SCAM. They start the process by "getting to know you right"? Wrong. They start the process by figuring out if you will have the funds or not or how you can come up with them. For example getting a co-signer is your best bet. After that process of-course now they want to get to know you and level of experience After that they set you up with the owner Lissette for an interview before you start school. In this interview she wants to find out if you are a great candidate to attend this school yet keep in mind they already took your money and are already enrolled. They like to manipulate young students straight out of high school only to be taught by people that are barely hanging on to their jobs themselves. Yes I learned some new things was it worth it Hell NO! They're bullshitting they're whole way through and on top of that they really want to treat you like a child. Listen please do yourself a favor and go enroll somewhere where you will be licensed for example Paul Mitchell. Do your research please there's people that are really money hungry and don't give a damn about your dreams, they want to get in your pockets. horrible school; lies about job placement, lies about job opportunities (cause the school's owner takes all the paying jobs) and lies about what your loan pays for. classes where grading standards are not applied fairly and people from the staff (lisa) lash out at people who leave reviews because they aren't favorable to the school, calling them wastes of people? what kind of people are you to say that about a disgruntled former student? important things to note: they make students write positive reviews before they can graduate!! think about that. they will not provide alumni with student loan balances!!!!!!!! what keeps them from continuing to charge us after our loan is paid off?? they don't have a knowledgeable person working retail...... they show favoritism to students who fit their "success" narrative so if you struggle to find work or continue your momentum after they stop caring about you... tough luck they cared more about accreditation than the students when i attended don't lose your 5k or 20k to people who couldnt care less about you or your success they don't even send my other friend job listings and they have been out of school for over eight months!!!!!!!!! frauds if i ever saw them!! read more

I am currently attending The L Makeup Institute and I can easily speak for a lot of people, this school is hands down the best school if you're looking to pursue your dreams of being a makeup artist in film, beauty, prosthetics, body paint.. The list goes on. I've never met more enthusiastic, hands on teachers. I appreciate my teacher Chris she's passionate about what she does she is absolutely amazing and has helped make this experience even more than anything I expected! I can't wait to keep embarking on this journey of a lifetime and see everyone grow together, not to mention everybody in my class is totally awesome. (More like family) The front desk is friendly when you walk in. Erika the retail associate and helps us out in the classroom whenever we need her. The owners are personable and fun, lissette makes sure to stop in the class to see what we're doing, and of course is always ready to help. Lisa and kayla are more than just the biggest cheerleaders for the company they make sure that everyone is staying on task and they always have smiles on their face, they make us feel comfortable. EXTREMELY happy that I came to this school; I was looking for one that was only focused on makeup, since I'm not interested in cosmetology. After going for a tour, I moved from Puerto Rico to Las Vegas just for this school. L Makeup was recommend to me, and I'm so glad I went with it. I've learned so much, from obviously makeup application to sanitation, product knowledge, staying organized and becoming way quicker at the makeup application since it is very hands on, everyday we would do makeup applications so I was never bored and always enjoyed going to class. Body paint was so much fun, creative and very new to me but I was able to learn so much, same thing with Special FX. ALL of the teachers and assistants are very experienced, very nice and super helpful. The facilities are so gorgeous and very prestigious, and was always kept clean. After so much training, I'm so much more confident about my artistry and can't wait to start working. I have already finished the whole program but I'm definitely coming back to take Advanced Prosthetics. read more

First of all. I was very excited to attend the agency. Everything seemed great. They had parking, a fabulous looking location. But after training here for a class i realized what a waste it was. There is no room in this school for anybody who has any previous or prior experience with make up. I was also disappointed when looking at the website, it looks like this place is vivacious and they're working with the hottest best clients and talented artists all around.The whole time i went there i only saw three people that taught. The website is misleading and makes it look like there are so many artists associated with this institute. THERE IS ONLY 3!!!!! Also! Just so you know, all the pictures hanging around the studio, on the website (the ones that actually look professional and good) are all stock images that are bought online. They DONT DO ANY OF THAT MAKE UP!!!! already misrepresenting themselves! I'd call that false advertisement! Save your moneY!! read more

I attended this school from August of 2017- January of 2018, and I can say it is the reason that I am where I am today. BEFORE l, I had minimal knowledge of makeup, body painting, and sfx makeup. But with the help of awesome instructors like Miriam Candelas, Cheri Rosales, Chris Giraldo, and Tom Devlin, I became the best makeup artist in my class. And with the help of the instructors and their awesome job placement, I managed to get a job working at Sephora in the Forum Shops. The instructors are so kind and patient with their students as long as the students show that this is their passion. Their retail store is filled with products to fill up your kit for school or your kit for your makeup life. They carry brands like Inglot, Makeup For Ever, Ben Nye, Smashbox, Becca and many others. You can learn all of what they teach you on youtube. Owner (Lisette) is a snob and doesn't care about anyones well being. Lisette is an awful person, she is jealous and extremely hateful towards her students. She does not want any of her students to succeed, she wants to see you fail. Along with the other instructors that set you up to fail and want you to fail. The things they teach you are simple things you can learn from instagram or youtube. The instructors have favorites and single you out if you aren't a favorite. A lot of these reviews including yellow pages and google are reviews from students that needed to get their grade up and this is how they presented the opportunity. I started at this school in April of 2017, my program was done in October 2017, then I had an extra class that I added on and had a big graduation in February. I had originally gone to cosmo school right after high school and did hair for 5 years, but a couple years ago I began to love makeup a lot more than what I was doing so I began to look into the school, I fell in love and I just wanted to do nothing more but learn tricks, tips and techniques. All of my instructors were very knowledgeable and were able to help every student, they knew real life situations to because they were all still working and then coming and teaching us! I am currently working for NYX Cosmetics and I love it I feel like knowing what I know now has really helped me move up with NYX and helped me feel no nerves when making people look their best! I would never recommend this "institute" to anybody. Unfortunately the woman in charge is by far the worst business person you could ever deal with, and unfortunately doesn't care about anything but making herself money and making her look "good". I would not waste my time at this junk of a place. If you have lissette as an instructor, prepare not to learn anything. She will only give you shallow advice that doesn't pertain to any technicality of doing make-up. It's all about if she "likes" it. I've also been on set with her and heard her talk bad about her students! how can you do that when they are paying so much to learn?! The first time I came here (as a customer) I was so happy they had Kryolan Paint Sticks because I did not want to order online or travel somewhere else to purchase them. So I was ecstatic when They told me There was a location here that sells them. The first time I went in, I wanted to look around- the sales clerk who helped me seemed a little pushy, She also helped me pick the WRONG foundations. And the return policy was 10 days and I couldnt use it and return it. So I went back and an awesome sweet person ADRIAN helped me and he took the time out of his shift & exchanged my purchase FLAWLESSLY. I go to school here, I major in makeup effects, and it is hands down one of the best decisions of my life. My teachers I've had here from beauty, to airbrushing and now to makeup effects, I've learned so much already and I'm not even finished! I am now half way through my program and I can honestly say that I love coming every day to class. I have learned more than I could ever imagine . It hasn't come easy but it has been worth every moment.
