I had a terrible experience at Avalon Institute and would not recommend it to anyone. The environment was extremely unprofessional. Most of the students were unfriendly, didn't greet clients, and handled my hair very roughly. During my first visit, they didn't even finish my service--no toner, no blow-dry--and I was sent out with wet hair. My boyfriend's mom was also assigned a student who was working on a client for the first time, and the poor results reflected that. I gave them another chance, and that was a mistake. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The instructor, Stacey, was rude, pushy, and clearly more focused on upselling than doing quality work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She pressured me into services I didn't ask for, and my hair was handled so aggressively that it was painful. The final result was awful--patchy, uneven, and multiple clashing tones. It looked nothing like what I requested. To make it worse, the price jumped from $60 to $85 with no proper explanation. The whole place feels disorganized and money-driven. I'll be including pictures for reference. The first shows the very first appointment with the night student, the second picture was after it was toned, and jumpscare warning, the last one shows what these people did to my hair. I asked for a trim and long layers. I asked to keep my hair long as I like long hair. The student cut off 6 inches when I asked for 1-2 inches max. All the layers do not flow. It's uneven. It's going to take me a year to grow this back out. The instructor told her student she did a good job. They let me leave like this. The hair cut took over 2 hours. Although prices are great, please do not get your hair done here it is cheap for a reason. It will take insanely long (2 hours for haircut and 9 hours straight for simple bleached highlights) They're also not professional at all- students don't care what you hear them say. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Today I was approached in a rude demeanor by one of the teachers Ashley.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came in for full headed highlights and my hair was done by Yami which she does great and is always sweet and precise. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But when communication breaks it makes it very unprofessional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ms Stacy one of the teachers that assisted Yami , had mentioned if any additional bowls are used it's an extra $10 per bowl all 3 of us agreed and consented if so! A total of 2 bowls were used, even Ms. Stacy mentioned on the 2 bowl were pretty much almost done hence ms Stacy made the second bowl Yami made the first one Coming to pay , they said my total was $80. ( price is 60 with 2 bowls included) And said an additional 2 bowls were used when only a total of 2 were applied. Then they said it's because of the Oz applied?! No one mentioned anything about extra Oz just bowls! 2 were used total. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And Ashley which I assume was another teacher approached me very rude with intense attitude, assuming I was a liar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Because communication from front desk to students to teachers were not accurate. A broken telephone amongst everyone isn't correct approach.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Even the student who did my hair knew how many bowls and such was used. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staffing and communication lacks a lot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have also lost my previous notes and records 2-3 times already, where in the past the color didn't turn out as it should've because of the loss of notes and not knowing what was used.. so the organization and precision isn't there. I liked coming here and got great service from Yami but everything else is really disappointing. I visited today for a lash lift, haircut, and hair gloss treatment. The day before my appointment, they called to reschedule so the students could go home on time, which I didn't mind. When I arrived at noon, my first treatment was the lash lift. Unfortunately, after two hours, I was really disappointed with the results. I didn't say anything at the time because I felt shy and didn't want to make the student feel bad. Next, I asked about my haircut, but they didn't have it in their system. Thankfully, they were able to fit me in right away with Daisy, who was amazing! She got my bangs exactly how I wanted and gave me a beautiful blowout. She really made up for the earlier experience. Overall, this place is a bit hit or miss. Mistakes can happen, a lot of questions will be asked, and things may take longer than expected. Just something to keep in mind. read more

It's not too expensive and if I don't get exactly what I want I've got a good shampoo and conditioner. Distance are very nice. After driving 40 minutes.. I visited this place for the first time on my birthday, hoping to treat myself, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I arrived on time for my 9am appointment, only to end up waiting over 20 minutes--closer to 30--without anyone even greeting me or acknowledging my presence. The only thing I was told was to sign my name on a sheet. As a first-time visitor, I expected a little more hospitality, but instead, I got a rude awakening. To make matters worse, the person I had an appointment with wasn't even available, and no one bothered to inform me or the instructor. This was a terrible first impression, especially on my birthday. I won't be coming back. I'll be sticking with G-Skin and Beauty in Henderson--they actually respect your time and honor their appointments. read more

Tried at least 6 times. 2 out of the 6 were decent but never able to get what I want. Yellow Orange is not a good look, especially when I told them I don't want yellow Orange. They always say next time next time. Not worth the $50 for color and after trying again and again I know, they just don't know what they are doing. I don't put this on the students. Overall I'll go back to my old spot but I can't say I did t try with them but; NEVER AGAIN! Pay for what you want, they took $50 and gave me what they wanted, not even close to what I wanted. I used to be a student at Avalon and I suggest that you DO NOT attend this school if you're considering it. This place is extremely unorganized, unprofessional and unsafe. Especially when it comes to state board and lessons. During my time there, while on breaks or simply going outside to my car, drug dealers have come up to me and others asking for lighters and if I'd like to purchase any of their illegal substances. One of our clients was a kidnapper and chased a girl in their car down the street. I know this because the girl physically came up to me and asked to speak to the director about it. There are homeless in the parking lot naked. Students and clients get into fights. There's been violence indoors where one of the clients almost stabbed another student and they did not take that situation seriously leading to more students being in danger. Students' car windows have been left with random bullet holes. There's been families with kids coming to get their services done and the songs played on the Intercom are about Intercourse 99% of the time making it unprofessional for a salon. The parking lot is so small there that people do not care about running over each other. Also, there are NO CAMERAS. So if something were to happen to you they will not know because they do not care enough to keep students SAFE. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is extremely bad communication amongst instructors and students while services are being done, leading to mistakes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Yes it is a school and yes mistakes are common but I've done a few clients where I've made mistakes and because of the miscommunication, one teacher would say to do it one way another teacher would say to do it another way. That is not a way to learn. It's only causing confusion.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And when mistakes happen they do not care about trying to make the client look better or helping you learn from your mistakes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also do not care if you have your breaks or lunch, an instructor has purposely left me with my client and went to her lunch break without telling me and left me to myself not knowing what to do for a service because certain services are done the "instructors way", and the other "instructors" who are supposedly supposed to help do not know what to do because they don't know how to do the service in general.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instructors are disrespectful and only nice to certain students.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The director can do something about this but chooses not to. Yes you cannot control what's going on outside but you certainly can inside and at least put up cameras outside and make a plan to keep students as safe as possible. I can go on and on about this but that would make this longer than it already is. But unfortunately they only care about money. If you're someone who's trying to get a service there or attending the school as a student I suggest you ONLY get your service done there if you personally know the stylist, and for school searchers look for a different place. read more

Not that good of service I went to get a pedicure and the young lady didn't do a good job. She says this is the best part the massage for pedicure and only just takes a hot towel and wipes cream off my feet, but doesn't even massage my calves or anything. She doesn't even trim my toenails or take care of my cuticles. It took so long just to remove gel nail polish over one hour! Also when she painted my nails she missed a part of my nail and didn't even bother to go back and fix it.I am so glad I cancelled my manicure cause that probably would look terrible too and take forever. I rather go some place else and pay more than go here and they don't do a good job and careless and take forever just to do a pedicure and remove nail polish. Not worth it. read more

Went for a pedicure, the students were very nice and polite however the service outcome was terrible, the polish didn't dry at all, my toe nails weren't even filled. Then I went to get my lashes done and they came out the next morning. The glue they used for the lashes gave me an allergic reaction. Save your time and book elsewhere. read more

As for the students teacher, she was very rude, she would come in and be very passive aggressive with the student and I could hear her talking about another client that was waiting for her service but had been waiting for over 30 minutes and decided not to get their service...understandable, but for the teacher to be yapping about the client not liking her and being rude is completely unprofessional behavior and Honestly not relaxing for me as a client to hear while getting a service.
