Set right on the charming Plage des Vergnes in the Gironde estuary, the location couldn't be better, and this is where the positive review ends. We have been here a few of times and always found the manager unpleasant and rude. He also clearly discourages children - no children's menu and no option for half portions. The food is fine but for the reasons stated, we had decided not to eat there any more. But today I went there with my 6 year old son out of desperation because the other restaurant on that beach was closed. The manager was rushing in and out to the terrace, and a number of customers were complaining of slow service. When the food did arrive, my mussels were not well cleaned and were dry, like they had been sitting around for a while, with lots of unopened shells. But my real issue began when the manager pushed passed my son, annoyed that he was in the way, and then moments later did the same thing but this time stepped hard on my son's bare foot, causing a small cut and swelling. He walked on without even an apology. My son left the restaurant in tears. I have since seen other reviewers complaining that he had done the same thing to their children!! Just awful - a man who runs a restaurant and ice cream parlour on a beach but dislikes children so much he intentionally tries to hurt them. Please avoid if you have kids. read more
