Super friendly staff and attentive. Some of the better Mexican food this TEXAN has had in MN ! It's the simple stuff: the salsa was full of flavor and almost bubble fresh from the blender, the pollo maya was seriously good and soooo much food just grilled veggies over moist chicken it had a lot of flavor. We are from CA and had low expectations, but Mexican food was calling us. This place was really good! Best Mexican we have found in six months on the road. The salsa was flavorful, good consistency and had some heat. My husband had carne asada fajitas and there was a great sear on the steak. Beans and rice pretty straightforward. I had a chicken enchilada and chicken burrito. Chicken was tasty, shredded, not greasy at all. Enchilada sauce didn't seem canned. Good margarita too, made in front of us, at a proper bar. Mediocre Mexican! The appetizer chips and salsa was ok . I ordered the Chimichanga for dinner and it was bland , soggy and lukewarm. I(I expect a deep fried chino to have a nice crunch and be golden brown) The rice was cold but the fried beans were good . I also had a peach Margarita which was huge and very good. I did not enjoy my meal. I had a taco, chalupa and tostada. The meal was cold and didn't include guacamole as advertised. When asked, I was told that they were out of guacamole. My boyfriend and I both have backgrounds in journalism, and while we were both still working in the trenches of newspapers, the boyfriend ended up living in Worthington for a year, working for the local daily. We were three hours apart, but the best thing about my all-too-infrequent visits to Worthington was La Azteca. I seriously still fantasize about the thick, savory, perfect cheesy dipping sauce (that also comes drizzled over the delectable Fajita Nachos) and the margaritas the size of your head. Think slow-cooked pulled pork and herb-roasted chicken. Amazing. I love Azteca. Now that we both live in St. Paul, the boyfriend and I frequently ponder whether it's worth the three-hour drive to Worthington just to visit Azteca. We've decided it is. We're planning a trip back soon. If you're ever in the area, don't miss this incredible food. Went for late lunch. Started with chips and salsa. I am a hot sauce freak and this stuff was outstanding. I got a bowl to go! We had the rice choripollo excellent choice and huge portions. After reading the Yelp reviews, we decided this was the place to go. When we arrived, the seating was a bit slow. Once seated we decided that we must have been given the bad waiter. We waited for service, gave a drink order and then waited more. We rarely saw our waiter throughout the meal. On the up-side, the food was very good. Ample chip supply and a bowl of salsa as opposed to the small cup at most places. I would definitely go here again, but would hope for another waiter. read more

Told us no one was available to make margaritas but then later a worker served out margaritas to another table. We ordered tamales and they brought us tacos. We sent it back and they brought it back saying they were all out of tamales; did not offer us another option. I ordered chicken enchiladas and they sent me beef; couldn't send it back. Our waiter did not check up on us, didn't fill our drinks, and was no where to be found. When we went to pay, they charged us an extra $2 per plate. I asked for a reason regarding the extra charge and why it was not posted on the menu or told to us before hand and the worker simply said, "I don't know it's only my second day. Good food at a fair price. We both ordered the Special Lunch #1, which was a Chile Relleno, Taco, Refried Beans, and a Guacamole Salad. Minnesotans really like their food bland. In fact, the couple next to us exclaimed, "Boy, this stuff is Spicy!" while my wife and I had to ask the chef to send out some hotter salsa for our chips (They sent us some tasty medium salsa. Thank you!). Also, we've never had a Chile Relleno cooked their way before either; their batter tasted more like an omelette wrapped pepper. Not bad, just different. This place is great! Our server was sweet and despite having a rush of customers in an off hour, he did his best to get us chips and drinks and food. I got the rolled quesadilla. It had fresh pico de gallo salsa in it and a good amount of cilantro! We stopped here the other day for an early dinner. Both ordered taco salads and were dismayed when they arrived with what appeared to be only greasy hamburger and onion in the shell. No lettuce, no guacamole, no sour cream and no salsa. The wait person sent the manager over and asked "what was the problem?" Dah! We explained and he replied that the truck with lettuce had not arrived. Chef must have assumed that we would not notice the missing ingredients! Thus we would rate at zero stars. read more

Horrible service. Ordered a specific combo came out as a totally different combo was told that it was the combo ordered only to say sorry we don't have that right now. Food was terrible. The food price is $2 more than on the menu and we weren't told that until we went to pay and got told "we don't have to to tel you ahead of time because every restaurant is doing that" which is totally not true. No mixed drinks were available because "the person who makes them wasn't there". Staff was not knowledgeable. Got what we didn't ask for at no discount with an added two dollar we weren't aware of. I usually enjoy this place, but the experience we had was awful. After going over several specialty drinks in the menu our waiter told us that "the guy who makes them isn't here," therefore we couldn't order them. This wasn't a problem until halfway through our meal when we watched one of the workers, who told us they aren't doing the drinks we want, make one for another table. Next was the food. Not only was it bland, but our server gave all of us the wrong meals. When we tried to have them fixed the waiter and the previous mentioned lady came and told us that WE were wrong and that is what we ordered. We were going to accept that, but then they admitted their mistake. They then told us they didn't have the combo that we wanted, but also didn't offer any alternative. Our waiter stood at the end of our table and said "soooo," at which point we accepted the food originally brought to us. The food was cold at that point and it was bland. Our waiter never returned to check on us until we were about to leave. At that point we could see the server had wrote down exactly what we wanted, so at any point he could've came to tell us we needed to change our order, instead of hoping we wouldn't notice. We also noticed all of our meals were marked up $2 more than the menu stated. The lady up front said that "it was only her second day, but all restaurants are increasing their prices." I know that isn't the case at all. To top it all off the girl preached to our waiter in front of us about customer service for another set of guests, but they both were awful to us. This place is garbage. Slow service, I have been here twice and both time they were out of key ingredients for most meals. Check to make sure they have everything to make your food. Great food, I love their Texas fajitas and I have always had wonder service. Oh and don't forget to have one of their special margarita's. They have one of the beat blended strawberry margarita's , and make sure you ask for cheese dip to go along with your complementary chips and salsa.
