This is authentic Mexican food and it is excellent! They actually had Caldo de Rez on the menu and it was so good and brought me back to my childhood days! Their green salsa is fresh and nice and spicy. My family was here for breakfast and we'd love to come back the next time we're in town. The service is great and everyone is friendly. This location has been the same Mexican restaurant for probably 30 years. It finally closed and La Bella has taken its place. It was very busy, and we waited about 15 minutes. Once seated, service was quick. First the good. My new favorite hot sauce and chips. I love cilantro, and this was perfect. The chips definitely tasted freshly deep fried. My new favorite Ranchera pork chops! The chops were tender, moist , and the perfect spicy seasoning. They really were fantastic. Glenda got the Picadillo plate, which she said was delicious. The only bad is how popular La Bella is going to be. There will definitely be a waiting list. Next trip, I'll try the chili rellano. I can't wait! read more

Hidden Texmex restaurant that you wouldn't believed it was good. The food was packed with flavor and the service was on point. Perfect place to have a quick lunch since the food was served at around 13-15 minutes from when I ordered it. The inside aesthetics looked "ok". But you are not going because of how the restaurant looks, you are going for the food and it did not disappoint. Try the Chuletas Rancheras! I would go back just to have them again!! I could not hold in my enthusiasm to simply dive in and try everything I ordered because the visuals and aromas percolating from the kitchen into the dining area begged diners to insert the food without taking a picture. I have lived in this part of Texas for the better part of two years now and as a transplant from Southern California I have genuinely searched high and low for anything that emulated what I was missing from the Mexican food in that region of the US. This little gem nestled in the recesses of Abilene matched, or even surpassed all of my expectations and shattered every Mexican food restaurant in all of Abilene. The staff is friendly, inviting and learning, there are so many nuanced expectations from customers that the staff is still getting their collective feet under them (but the wait is worth it). Starting with the chips and salsa, I burrowed through two baskets of them because of their intoxicating allure and scrumptious taste, perfectly crispy adequately thick and even more pallet pleasing salsa. I got the Barbacoa plate with rice and beans, the meat was beautifully nestled next to most flavorful ambitious Mexican rice I have ever tried, there was not a single grain left on my plate and if other diners would not have judged me I might have picked up my plate and licked it clean. There was not a single shortcut taking by this establishment and the quality of food is unparalleled in all of Abilene.
