The review witten by Princessa U. is shocking to me. I am not sure she got the right La Boom Studio. I am a customer of Mathew for more than 10 years and never, even once, left his chair unhappy. Just yesterday I cut my hair and can not be happier with the service I received. Since all my needs were met and the quality of the hairstylist's work ( both skills and artistic vision) is outstanding! And whenever I am coming for color I always get the color I specified. I just tell Mathew in details what result I expect and I ALWAYS get it. I think that in addtion to the hairstylist's abilities( which in this particular case are top noch, I repeat) a customer has to be very clear and verbal in her/his requirements. I do not want to preach, but it is NEVER OK to hide behind "I did not have a chance to protest" and "...I did not want embarass him", then go and write negative review. It would be much better to confront in person, make it clear that you do not like the result, and I am SURE something good would come out of it. read more

I have long brown hair and during last 12 years I couldn't find any hair stylist with whom i felt satisfied. My friend referred me to La Boom Studio about a year ago. And of course I didn't have any great expectations. But guess what ?) Right after the first visit I felt sooo HAPPY . La Boom is a very pretty, friendly and stylish establishment. Moreover, Matthew and his staff always make you feel very comfortable and at ease. Matthew is a true professional and artist. My experience at La Boom Studio - In a word - magnificent. I walked into the salon and was very impressed with the customer service. Lots of smiling faces greeting me and asking me if I needed anything. Matthew was my stylist. I cannot say enough wonderful things about him. He did a magnificent job with my hair cut. I have thick, course layered hair that often times overwhelms me. Mathew knew just what to do. I've been a client for years, and am very happy with La Boom. I love my latest haircut - and everyone's been complimenting me on the cut/color Matthew gave me. As with any stylist - you have to be pretty specific, and if you don't want your cut to be too short - you ALWAYS have to speak up, and be firm about it! Same goes for the color. But he has a great taste, and tailors to each client's uniqueness. He takes his time, gives you the attention you need, and coming out to the salon feels more like a trip to a spa. read more

Let me start by saying Matthew is fabulous. I was recommended by a friend after seeing how great her hair cut was. I have been seeing Matthew for about 3.5 years now. La Boom is very cozy, and the service is great. They really make you feel at home. I travel from queens 1.5 hours away and have been a loyal customer. I wouldn't think of seeing anyone else. I had been coming to La Boom since it's opening. La boom is not only a fabulous place for your hair cut, color, highlights, mani and pedi and you name it... It also feels like a social club of sorts. I always randomly meet family members, friends, other client's that I got to know over the years... I tried, unsuccessfully, find other masters, in Manhattan, which would be more convenient geographically, but I keep coming back to La Boom. They are THAT good!!! read more

This creepy guy Mathew Kanengiser (the owner) pays his employees(mostly undocumnet people) very low wages in cash. It's just slavery in the center of Brooklyn. I will definitely contact the Department of Labor and make sure of all his shady shitty business. How can "man" treat people like this? I think he was raised by monkeys, not by normal people. It's the best place to get your hair done. It's expensive, but worth every penny. I've been going to La Boom what seems like my whole life.
