We were greeted warmly when we entered by two female employees. Coffee was decent. Flat white was served as a latte size, but I was ok with that. Then things took a turn. I ordered a drink, and my partner and I sat to chat for just a few minutes. The owner(?) guy asked us to leave and said that buying one drink didn't warrant us sitting on chairs set as a bigger grouping. There were no large groups waiting or anything, he just didn't feel we had paid enough to sit in that area. Truth be told, we only stopped here because we had planned on going to the spot next door, but it was super packed with a line out the door and this place had great reviews too. Thankfully it didn't disappoint. The cafe has such a lovely atmosphere, and such good cappuccino. The service can be a bit slow for food because it's a small staff, but as long as you aren't in a rush, this place is a great option. "Simplicity at its best" Okay, gonna try to keep this simple yet elegant, like the Italians always do... First off, the barista quality coffee! So far only tried the espresso, but I'm pretty sure the cappuccino and macchiato won't disappoint. What's that? They've got white bonbon and even better, black bon bon. A bbonaa! By the way, the homemade hot chocolate looks darn irresistible, strong & intense like a coco drug. Expect honest food, honest prices. Not a hipster like Mem's from across. But with patriarca & matriarca and the bambino all present (only the bambino being grown Italian biker), it offers an authentic Italian vibe and just a nice spot to just chill. Ow, don't forget try some of the homemade food, especially the focaccias! I was in the mood for roasted pork but due to sudden unexpected demand for the porchetta they're already sold out that late afternoon, so I went for the 1 with speck & provolone instead. After many visits at La Boutique Del Caffe, it was about time that I wrote a review. And this is going to be one of those that says: go there if you haven't yet, and if you already have been there, go back! La Boutique is a cute little Italian café place in De Pijp. Real Italian vibe (as far I can tell at least) in the smell of coffee and of the many delicious treats they offer! First things first: coffee. That's the reason you come here in the first place, deliciously strong italian coffee! there aren't many places in Amsterdam where you can enjoy a good expresso, well this is definitely one of them. Flavorful, complex aromas, strong (did I mention that before?). The cappuccino is equally delicious (unsurprisingly), and they even have a little thing that is truly a drop from heaven: BLACK BON BON. Oh. My. God. That thing is a killer! Do you like chocolate? Do you like expresso? then you have to try it, you won't be disappointed!! What about food? once again no disappointments in that district, everything I tried tasted delicious (how many times per review are you allowed to use the word "delicious", I wonder?). Very good focaccia: I had the grilled eggplant and cheese one and I really liked it. You can totally taste the homemade bread! and the olive oil (maybe just a bit too much of it for my taste). For dessert, again for chocolate lovers: try the "occhio di bue"! a delicious sablé biscuit with nutella! (or, for not-so-chocolate-lovers, with jam). They also have some warm dishes, I really want to try the melanzane alla parmigiana! next time ;) It is generally quiet and easy to find a spot. Several small and big tables for you to choose from. There is free WiFi. And they recently installed a nice sofa space with a lower table - perfect to sip your expresso together with friends! You always feel much welcome when you walk in here, and Daniele is the kind of owner who takes care of his customers: he remembers you from one visit to the other, and greets you nicely, I appreciate that! Last time, I even unexpectedly got a little biscuit (can you guess what flavor it was? ;) )! Oh and prices are more than reasonable! One of the things I love about Amsterdam is all the 5 star reviews I give the restaurants....difficult to be hungry here. We popped in here between the Van Gogh Museum and Albert Cuypt Market (we had two first-timer friends in tow and were feeling a might peckish). The place was busy but not hectic. We found and shared a table with a local gal and spent the next hour throughly enjoying the vibe and the food. This is a very casual place serving up freshly made salads, sandwiches and lite bites that make it so easy to refuel before further tromping around town. We ordered the Tuna Melt and the Mortadella & Cheese Focaccia. Both were yummy with the Focaccia particularly well seasoned and tender to the bite. This was a delightful stop and if we are ever in the area of their Van Woustraat store we will sample that one too. We will be back. read more

What a cozy little cafe located in a convenient location! We had a couple of lattes and a ham, tomato, mozzarella and pesto flatbread and a grilled eggplant sandwich. Both sandwiches were delicious. We both enjoyed their coffee as well, a good balance of espresso and not too milky. There's also a cat roaming around that many of the customers in the cafe seemed to enjoy hanging out with. read more

I saved the best for last... we lingered for an hour or so here enjoying some of the best cappuccinno we had in Amsterdam. Very Italian and very good... They roast their own beans and the result is sublime. Their large shop is devoid of kids and other distractions that make other coffee shops so annoying... so you can rest and relax. This was the only coffee shop where we actually bought the beans (under the strict guidance of the proprietor- note to self: they're serious about their beans here). So we had memories of La Boutique del Caffe Torrefazione for a full week after we returned home. read more

I've found it. I concur. And you'll only be able to pry the cup of hot chocolate goodness from my fingers if you have another cup waiting for me! Service here is lovely, it's chilled and slow paced but to enjoy a decent coffee and decadent hot chocolate, you're supposed to take your time! Color me surprised! From street view this place doesn't look as though it would be very special, but once you taste the coffee you'll know the difference. On a side note a little more decor inside would go along way. The man who I assumed was also the owner greeted me with big smiles and a helpful attitude. These things go a long way with your overall experience of the place. I started out with the soy cappuccino using the Capri blend coffee. It was to die for and beautifully blended. It was very delicate and because of the temperature easy to drink right away. I despise when I am given a coffee that will scold my mouth. As a side for this round I got a Nutella cookie which was right in the middle of a soft cookie and a hard biscuit. Not too sweet and not too bitter either. Since there were so many treats sitting outside decided to stay and try another round. For this round I had an eggplant tart thing which was homemade and only a few slices were left. This was also very delicate and smooth to the taste, with lots of flavor and warmed up just right. To finish this off I decided to go for a ginseng espresso with a tiny bit of milk froth in. I am sure I have had a ginseng coffee before, but it surely wasn't memorable. Now this one was memorable! There was so many flavors in that tiny little club cup it is hard to explain. A little sweet, a little bitter, and a lot delicious. It is time to make this a go to place for a quick coffee and a snack when I'm in De Pijp. read more

Mmmmm. The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans and numerous sweet baked things welcomed us. If I were to rate on scent alone, it would be a sure 5 stars! We walked into here in the mood for teas and coffees and were pleased to find a relaxing spot with a warm welcome. The place was spotlessly clean and had a number of paintings on the wall which made for interesting surroundings. The café is also very open and spacious. It was certainly a great place for a warm afternoon drink and, judging by the smell, I've no doubt that everything they make is delicious. I don't even know what to say except for "PERFECT!" Stepped in for a coffee and tried a ginseng "glutenfree" coffee which has a hazulnut flavour and it was like a small shot of liquid orgasm. Since I had just gotten back from visiting my friend in Sicily I couldn't help my self and just had to try their Canoli. Cause well I had to make sure it really is Sicilian Canoli as the advert said...........And well ladies and gentlemen...........it doesn't get any more sicilian than this!!!! Wow, such a lovely place just a stone's throw from to the Museumsplein! Me and my lady were looking for a place where to grab a bite before getting back to the city centre, and on a Sunday afternoon this place was standing out among the top results in Yelp. And we thank this website for the suggestion! Italian cafe' managed by an Italian guy, it offers a range of sandwiches as focaccia and piadina, some cold dishes and couple of hot ones. I definitely went for some bread slices with burrata (italian cheese parent of mozzarella), tomatoes (fresh and dry ones) and artichokes, and it was delicious! Generous portion and as good as it gets, suggested more than anything else! Good desserts too, with torta della nonna, cannoli and a couple of other choices, nothing fancy, just plain good italian food, awesomely good! Please try the coffee, it's insanely good! Love the wide window onto the street, decor is really stylish and tasteful, but not so fancy that I worried about my toddler's free movements. Plus, great coffee. Literally the best meal of my trip to Amsterdam. I ordered the Melanzane Pane a Fette which was grilled eggplant, mozzarella, tomatoes, and ham on Italian sliced bread and it was SO GOOD. I can't remember what the other 3 in my party ordered, but everybody was more than satisfied with their food. It's interesting though because if you walk through the kitchen area to the bathroom, you may notice that they don't seem to be cooking the food right there and then. Instead, it appeared that the food was prepared earlier and reheated. I didn't really care though because it was all so good!!! Also, we ordered the capri and roma cappucinos/lattes and were so impressed THAT EACH OF US ORDERED ANOTHER ROUND. Highly recommend for brunch!!!! read more

One of the best Espresso-blends in Amsterdam we tried yet. The owner roasts the beans himself, and knows exactly what the coffee-lover wants! Besides the different available roasts, he also offers several home-made pastries, of which especially the Croissants were tasty with their slight lemon aroma. Best Home Made Focaccia Sandwich and cappuccino i have ever tasted!!! I had "Roasted Pork & Provolone Piccante Focacce and a cup of cappuccino here and i felt like i was in heaven!! The Focaccia sandwich had a perfect harmony of light taste tender and juicy roasted pork and very flavorful piccante cheese!! Best of all focaccia i ever hat in my whole life!! MUST TRY! Cappuccino was with really creamy and velvety micro foam and super good! The owner is Italian and he is so knowledgeable about coffee beans and food! He roasts coffee beans there in the cafe and it smells really nice there! My friend had really nice looking latte macchiato and some Italian dessert.... i forgot the name but it was tart like with apricot jam! i had a bite because it was irresistible and it was so yummy!!! I was so full and content with my focaccia sandwich so didn't order any dessert for myself but i am sure to go back there again for more yummy food, drink, and dessert!! i LOVED everything about this cafe! What a dissapointment--and as a coffee fiend, hard felt. Worst customer service we've encountered in over a year in the Netherlands. Despite coming in 45 seconds before closing (and waiting 10 minutes for a menu) we were told that we couldn't get any food, sandwiches or salads, mind you (despite having been sitting there for a looong time).
