We sat down about 6:30pm, the restaurant was relatively empty, seems like ther take out business was moving. We kept noticing people just coming from the outside to use the restroom. Food service was very quick, we noticed the rotisserie chicken breast was a bit dry, the leg and tight seem moist. The tostones were perfectly fried, the ceviches was fine nothing special. The typical green sauce was set in the table and it paired well with the chicken, tostones and ceviche. Overall the menu seems difficult to understand prices. Menu has family meals, and meals that are protein only such as the chicken i ordered. But in my opinion this is confusing, maybe family meals work when you have 4 or more people but for 2, its too much food. Psrking was difficult, when the bill came, the tip is automatically added onto the bill, while i dont have a problem tipping, they should tell you that from the beginning and not just add it to the bill automatically. When the server gave me the bill, they had also made a mistake to charge me for tap water. I went to the counter and i asked why there was a$2 charge for water and they told me it was a mistakebut neither the server or the person ringing the bill caught it, until i told them. I definitely had better Peruvian food but as a last minute decision we ate here because we were visiting my family nearby. I normally goto to Long Island, Ocenaside to eat at Ananau, now this joint the service, ambiance and the food is definitely 5 star. Bravazo did not feel like s restaurant ambiance, felt like a take spot. Dont get me wrong, the server was very nice but i wouldn't come back. While my wife was washing her hands in the restroom, some guy off the street who was not a customer came in loud, and started to bang on the door of the restroom. Nobody in management or even the servers said anything to him, weird situation and what was more disturbing was that he was hanging out at the pizza place next door. During our dinner, i notice people from the pizza place where coming in to use the restrooms in the restaurant.-totally weird.

A colorful plate arrived of squid, shrimp and octopus sitting in lemon and lime and topped with chopped onions accompanied by a boiled potato and a large slice of sweet potato. The ceviche blew my mind. I'd never thought of ceviche as "hearty" before but the flavors were fresh and comforting. I think it may very well be one of the standout menu items. They offer three different varieties here, and I'll keep returning to try them all. I also can't say enough good things about their tamales. I am, by no means, an expert on tamales but I've had enough to know a good one when I taste it. And these rank pretty highly. You must order yourself one when you stop in. Trust me, you'll thank me later. Aside from the ceviche, their primary offerings are their steaks with rice and beans and their previously mentioned roasted chicken. The waitress highly recommended their pollo, saying that they marinated it very well and that it's their most popular item. She showed a lot of enthusiasm and pride in it. And it must be good, how often does a waitress push the cheapest item on the menu? I walk by this restaurant almost every day and their dining room is almost never even half full. I'm not sure how they stay in business. Costa Verde is easily the most underrated restaurant in my neighborhood.

I visited yesterday to celebrate my younger brother's birthday, we walked in and waited for someone to seat us (party of 3) which did not happen... so we walked up to someone. She pointed to a table and told us to sit there, then another waitress told us that she was sorry but she has someone about to sit there right now and asked us to wait there. We stood in the middle of the restaurant in between narrow spaces between tables waiting and then we were sent over to another table with only two chairs...it was a mess. Whatever... skip the seating...maybe they were busy right? We sat and someone didn't even check on us for a good 20-30 minutes, no water, no service...just us waiting for someone to come by. Finally the server decided to come over and we quickly put in our order after a long wait. About another 15-20 minutes later she brings us the natural passion fruit juices we ordered and salads (Still no water)....She brought the food shortly after and halfway through our meal she brings us water (finally). I asked her to bring my brother a happy birthday flan which she did about 30 minutes after we were already done eating as we sat there watching the Mets game on tv. We spent most of the evening waiting for her to come to our table. It was really terrible service. After the Flan, we literally sat there about 30 minutes waiting for her to bring the check. Very annoying. I was just dying to get out of there. We received the bill and no wonder...15% gratuity is already included (which only came out to $6, guess she felt she didn't have to do a good job because she was already getting her tip? I gave her $10 extra "tip" in cash and the ONLY reason I left that was to pay for our natural passion fruit juices that she forgot to put on the bill...... I did not want to leave without paying for the juices but I really didn't want to bring it to her attention and wait another half an hour for a new bill.... Lastly, I gave it two stars because the food was actually pretty good...and the birthday flan was really good. I was surprised, the texture was perfect. I will Definitely not be returning, I have no patience for terrible service. If I'm in the mood for Dominican food, which I'm usually not because I eat it all the time at home (I'm Dominican) I will order for delivery. Went back today after a 2 year hiatus. We used to love this place. In the past, the decor was terrible, but we were drawn by the food, the service, and the prices... Now that the place was renovated, the only appeal is the decor... the food/service/prices have all changed (and not for the better). The beans were tasteless, the maduros kind of dry, the yuca was hard, the bacalao didn't look, smell or taste like any Dominican bacalao I've had in the past- and that's not a compliment. The worst part? My wife and son became really sick, vomiting and diarrhea. I was bloated and felt nauseous. The only thing I can attribute this to is that the 3 of us had Guanabana shakes (the shake sucked as well- super thick, cake like, and an eye squinting amount of sugar). Lastly, the waitress had her tip automatically added to our 40 dollar bill. I've seen this done with much higher restaurant bills, but not for a 40 buck dinner. Not sure if it's a new owner, but he/she has their work cut out for them. This isn't the same La Brisa restaurant we once knew. Customer lost. read more

Then the lady making my food was handling my food with no gloves, with her long acrylic nails and thought it was a great idea to remove the unwanted beans that I didn't ask for to begin with, from my rice over the trash bin!!!
