The location of this restaurant is particularly dingy at the moment with all the construction going on but even if it weren't, the restaurant has some very tired and cheap decor. If you're looking for quaint, pass it by.
However the waiter has probably been working here for 40 years and he has seen every kind of tourist and local and he takes it all in stride with a wisdom and care that makes you want to come back just for the service. He spoke little English but it didn't matter, because he came out with a plate that had three whole fish on it. We selected one and we were off to the races.
We had an appetizer of pasta with clams which was passable, you order this for the clams. The broth was very simple, just a seafoody briny good taste. The pasta was not quite linguine shaped but close. It was decently al dente.
The whole fish was the highlight, the waiter filleted it in front of us and even scooped out the cheek meat, much to our delight. I clapped and smiled broadly. The fish was perfect, and adorned with a little olive oil and not much else. Some roasted potatoes completed the plate.
The food is simple here but fresh and good. The price is ok, but of course really fresh fish isn't usually cheap. The white wine we had was, however, and it was also simple and good. read more
