We really lucked into a spot at this lively, friendly Tapas restaurant. La "Well" est plutôt tranquille les mardis soirs pluvieux et ce restaurant est très discret. Tots of choices, sadly, there were only two of us. À deux, trois plats étaient très adéquats. Not enough sauce on the General Tao Poutine but the veggies were amazing. Les crevettes aux patates douces.. mmmm. And, Dave some room for churros with salted caramel sauce! Service avec le sourire! And do you know what tastes better than lychees? Boozy lychees! Essayer le sangria clair! Il est délicieux!!

This resto located right on Wellington in the heart of Verdun is a great space to share a few bites and cocktails with friends, especially due to the big inviting bar right in the heart of the dining room. I visited La Betise with 4 other foodie friends during the Montreal à table festival where we enjoyed a three course meal for 43$; I opted for the octopus starter, the tuna tartare entree, and finished with the Paris-Brest dessert. The food was really good; flavourful and well presented. I also enjoyed the paired wine for each of my two first plates and was very happy with the choices. Unfortunately, the service lacked for many reasons; the waitress managed to take down the wrong orders for every one of the three courses for at least one of us. This meant that the food was also not always served at the same time for all of us. Also, I had to ask for my second wine pairing twice although my entree was already served several minutes before. Our desserts came quickly enough with no error but no one asked if we'd like a coffee with our dessert either (personal pet peeve). We had to wave down the staff to get our bills which we noted were all wrongly entered (explains the wrong dish orders); luckily, it was a fixed menu price so we didn't have to redo the bills. This resto could be a great spot for tapas and drinks if they'd get the service up to par. So for now, I'll give them the average 3 stars, thanks to the good food and great space.

Delicious 1$ oysters on tuesdays and thursdays. They're so fresh and it comes with an acidic sauce that matches very well with them. The rest of the food however are average. I love the concept of asian fusion, but they all just tasted ok. I tried the salmon tartare, korean ribs, fried calamari and general tao poutine. The salmon tartare had way too much sauce and you couldn't really taste the salmon anymore. The poutine was good but it just tasted slightly different from a regular poutine. The general tao chicken didn't really taste like general tao. The ribs were tender, soft and delicious. The fried calamari was ordinary. As for the service, both times were great. The staff are friendly and we get the food quickly.

Under 2 pieces of full crackers, there were crumbs... For those prices, they should not cheap out on crackers!

They serve everything tapas style here meaning small plates that you share with others. Even the bowls are a little smaller portioned, a little harder to share. However I think the hot appetizers like the takoyaki (octopus balls), okonomiyaki (japanese omelette/pancake), and the karage (fried chicken) are the must tries! They are super beginner friendly options that taste super good! Lots of umami flavor and they are perfectly sized and portioned for sharing. I also enjoyed their mocktail drinks. The three in the photo are the three that they have. They are all green haha. I really liked the matcha one, it just tastes like a matcha latte but better! All the items came out one by one, and were nicely timed. Once we finished an item another came out! Although they were kind of busy I think they did a great job at service. The ambiance is also amazing, I love the indoor decor.

The vibes are casual, the waiters joke and talk in a more hang out way, and there's no rush to eat and move. They recommend the group meal offering and I can report that it is a TON of food and definitely all their best items. Our colleagues that shared it were the happiest, though they admit they could never hear what was delivered and they are blindly with no reference. I had skewers that I quite enjoyed, though one had enough cheese to last me a week, some of the best edamame (everyone wanted some), and a helping of rice due to my gluten free needs. The cocktails were really something special, definitely a menu you want to drink through. I wanted to love Biirū, but I do admit the reviews around the meal experience and communication from the waiters was fairly accurate. I don't think a few of us would've come here with our allergies had it not been a work dinner. Their understanding of celiac disease was low, like sure I could eat the soy sauce and not react right now, but I will later and that shouldn't be a risk a business presents. Further, we had to confirm 4 times that one dish was made on its own pan due to a severe anaphylactic allergy. The staff don't seem to speak to one another, so the delivery of food was horrible with parts going to one end when they belonged elsewhere.

There was a nicely selected set of local beers on the menu. We had a few and they were great. I won't detail them as I think the selection changes routinely. It was tough to decide what to get. I was poutine-curious but was unsure about the foie gras gravy. Andrew ordered the poutine with the duck confit. He loved it and said it was among the best poutine he has had. I went for the traditional mussels as Andrew said this is a thing to get in Montreal, they will do it well. He was right, the bowl was huge and the mussels and sauce were excellent. The only thing I would change is I like a baguette with mussels more than fries so if that is an available substitution I would be all in. I loved this place, I would go back again when I return to Montreal.

The service was suuuuper blow despite the restaurant being less than half full but each dish was undeniably great. We started with the cured salmon which was chunked instead of thinly sliced which we did not expect but it blew our minds! Couldn't stop until it was all gone. Followed by duck confit poutine with foie grau gravy - perfectly cooked and a lovely intro to poutine in general. Decent wine and beer selection. Would recommend with the expectation to receive very lax service.

The service was friendly but they seemed short staffed that night. We were trying to refill our water glasses but it took a while since I couldn't find any waiter or waitress around. Now let's start with the food: Focaccia: 5/5 bread was warm, toasty and tasty but the dip was the highlight Leeks with smoked mackerel, mustard, tobikko: (2.5/5) too creamy with a hint of mackerel and leeks Calamari chou-fleur, asian pear, chili beurre blanc: (2/5) very soupy and too much cream and not flavorful Black cod miso sauce, daikon, kale: (2.5/5) cod was tender but my bite had too much miso on it. It was extremely salty and not well balanced Beef tartare with mushrooms, Asiago: (1/5) mushy texture and way too much Asiago cheese. Flank steak with burnt chili salsa, szechuan pepper sauce, pickled peppers: (2/5) steak was not tender at all and the sauce was overwhelming Fried sea bass with bok choy, soya, nuoc mam (3/5): presentation was great but too many bones with too little meat. Flavor was good and I enjoyed the warm crispy fish with the Vietnamese style salad Overall, my special dinner was disappointing. I felt like the main ingredient never shined and their cheese or cream or sauce were just too overpowering. I really wanted to like Cadet but it fell short of my expectations.

I had the most amazing meal here. Genuinely the BEST beef tartare i've ever had in my life, it was chopped perfectly and flavor wise just absolute perfection. Rich, cheesy but still fresh and the beef flavor was present and well seasoned. Focaccia was great as well, the grill flavor really stuck with me and was a perfect touch of crunch and flavor. I enjoyed my leeks as well, i've never had them prepared this way so it was a unique touch. Their cocktails were good with some nice twists on classics, I got the oolong old fashion which was a pretty classic old fashion with a slight tea after taste. the highlight of the meal though was the desert . it was brûlée bananas with a chocolate cheesecake and omg that was the best touch to the meal ever. we got the wine pairing with it as well and they went together like bread and butter. the wine was sweet but had a fruitier taste to counteract the richness of the banana and chocolate. it was the most delightful experience and wasn't a bank breaker either. service here was attentive and amazing, extremely friendly and informative. the ambiance was on the fancier side, with darker lighting. during my time in montreal, this restaurant easily took home my favorite.

Calamari for an app. A lobster roll for my meal and a drink. The sangria came quick and was good, a little syrupy. The calamari and lobster roll took a while, but maybe they are a bit more relaxed in Canada. No one was available, even for me to waive down, no check ins either. Again, probably customary in Montreal, I don't know the culture that well. The calamari was pretty looking, but it was tough as a well done leather glove. The "lobster roll" had about two pieces of lobster, the rest was small shrimp. The flavor was good, the bun was perfect. But still, for the price, a disappointment. The French fries were delicious but soggy. Maybe that was a spin on Poutine.??? I sat for an hour without being able to get someone. I will not return.

It was the piece de resistance. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the cheek/head was juicy all the way to the tail. The sides were fine, the papas bravas could have been crispier, but fine. Green beans were nicely seasoned. Had half and waved the white flag. Paired it with a tasty Albariño. Great start to quick sojourn in Montreal.
