Had chilaquiles here for brunch, covered in the clasico red and tono cilantro based sauces. Both were extremely flavorful but I prefered the rich creaminess of the cilantro sauce. I also tried the agua fresca and had no regrets. The neighborhood is residential and more updated than the historical area, almost hipster. The restaurant across the street blasted jazz music the whole time, which you will hear if you eat under the verdant canopy of the front patio, and while you wait to be seated enjoying complimentary coffee or agua fresca. The restaurant is a modified house with charmingly mismatched chandeliers and a boutique store for accessories, handbags, and children's items upstairs. Both the neighborhood and modified house turned restaurant reminded me a little of midtown Sacramento as well. Although I enjoyed the chilaquiles, I would try something different if I returned. Also note that this restaurant is pricier compared to other cafes. read more

(Review from 3/2015) La Cafeteria is a cute little cafe just off the main road. It has a great outdoor seating area (quite extensive) that gets plenty of sunshine on a sunny day. We had a little bit of a wait, so we just made a quick walk around the block before we were seated. Their lunch starts at 2:30pm, so be sure to wait a bit if you want to order anything from the lunch menu. We ordered the chilaquiles and gorditas and a vase of sangria. Everything was delicious, albeit things were more expensive than the typical cafe in the area. Worth a try if it's sunny out and you want to have some good food. There's also a small gallery/store inside on the second floor if you want to check out some local art. read more

I've been to this place countless times. One of the first things you notice is the service. While you wait (it's usually crowded) they provide seats and complimentary water. Once you get there, it's almost painful to choose between so many delicious options. I always come back to the Chilaquiles Cafetería, They're just incredible, with their pumpkin seed sauce. They have wifi and a variety of beverages and tea. It's a lovely place to work in the afternoon. It's also pet friendly so bring your furry friends. read more

Came here hoping they still served breakfast food around 3pm. I was wrong. I came for the chilaquiles that looked amazing. Their lunch menu was a bit sad. Almost like a normal American cafe. Nothing special but those chilaquiles! That I still need to come back for. I ordered enchiladas suiza. It was delicious none the less. It was basically in a bowl of lovely green tangy rich tomatillo purée and topped with yummy cheese. The place had a cute patio. Friendly staff. Initially it was gonna be 4 stars but I found a hair in my food. :/ appetite killer. I'm indifferent to this place. I saw so many similar restaurants when I walked to this location. I may have just came cause the power of yelp. I feel there is so much more special food that doesn't get on yelp. Hopefully more people showcase them. read more

I have been here three times now and have loved the chilaquiles. They always stay crunchy throughout your meal. Definitely recommend the ones with Pepita & chipotle. Ok so I gave it a 4. In my opinion it's actually a 3 but it is actually the second best place I've had breakfast at in Guadalajara, and it's the second time I've been here. It's good enough to come back a second time and apparently everyone likes it because there is an hour wait if you show up after 930. I'm pretty brutal on reviews though so take that into consideration. read more

My girlfriend flew us out to Guadalajara for a couple of days to celebrate my birthday. The only reason why I'm giving this place one star is for the female waitress that took the time to ask if we needed anything else. The gentlemen that seated us was vague and short. Took our order and forgot to bring us our appetizer before our main dish. He never came by to check up on us or ask if everything was okay. I didn't get his name because he did not introduce himself before taking our order. It was Friday November 16 around 1300. He did apologize on our way out which meant nothing to us. read more

Food is delicious! If you order the pan dulce they bring out a tray of mini pan dulces to choose from ranging from conchitas to cinnamon rolls. We came twice during our weekend getaway in Guadalajara. I had chilaquiles both times, the classic rojos were my favorite. The second time I added an egg as it does not come with the order. I also tried their banana pancakes and French toast, delish! I cannot remember the name of my drink, it was mocha something, so good! I got it both times. My partner had an omelet and loved their fresh squeezed orange juice. We sat outside both times, very cute and lovely. I will make sure to visit again when in Guadalajara. read more

The food here is good, not great, the portions aren't big or that filling, but they have surpprisingly healthy options, and some diversity! something that is often missing in Guadalajara. More importantly the ambience is very nice, nice Christmas lights that make the place perfect for a date or pre-drinking with a friend, nice younger crowd of professionals, and they make a decent Sangria, that is only about $6 USD for a pitcher or about 3 cups a piece for 2 people. I wish they had delivery though, i don't understand why so many places like this one don't have delivery when they are situated in the center of a residential neighborhood, they could probably Double their business. read more
