    Gorditas, chilaquiles, and sangria

(Review from 3/2015) La Cafeteria is a cute little cafe just off the main road. It has a great outdoor seating area (quite extensive) that gets plenty of sunshine on a sunny day. We had a little bit of a wait, so we just made a quick walk around the block before we were seated. Their lunch starts at 2:30pm, so be sure to wait a bit if you want to order anything from the lunch menu. We ordered the chilaquiles and gorditas and a vase of sangria. Everything was delicious, albeit things were more expensive than the typical cafe in the area. Worth a try if it's sunny out and you want to have some good food. There's also a small gallery/store inside on the second floor if you want to check out some local art.

I've been to this place countless times. One of the first things you notice is the service. While you wait (it's usually crowded) they provide seats and complimentary water. Once you get there, it's almost painful to choose between so many delicious options. I always come back to the Chilaquiles Cafetería, They're just incredible, with their pumpkin seed sauce. They have wifi and a variety of beverages and tea. It's a lovely place to work in the afternoon. It's also pet friendly so bring your furry friends.

Pancakes were ok, but those chilaquiles were some of the best I've tried. Combination of el Toño & Clásicos verdes. So good!!

Wait was a little long, but so worth it. Staff is friendly & they have OJ & coffee while you wait. The chilaquiles (combination of sleep Toño & Clásicos verdes) were some of the best chilaquiles I've had. Highly recommend!

I have been here three times now and have loved the chilaquiles. They always stay crunchy throughout your meal. Definitely recommend the ones with Pepita & chipotle. Of course you can never go wrong with the classic verdes or rojos. Orange juice is freshly squeezed and is delicious. BRING CASH, no cards accepted

They forgot to cook the burger....

I got delivery from this place because my hotel had a special deal with them. I ordered a cheeseburger but for whatever reason they decided not to cook it and rather just stick it in a bun. Worst food I've had in GDJ...highly unrecommended.

Food is delicious! If you order the pan dulce they bring out a tray of mini pan dulces to choose from ranging from conchitas to cinnamon rolls. We came twice during our weekend getaway in Guadalajara. I had chilaquiles both times, the classic rojos were my favorite. The second time I added an egg as it does not come with the order. I also tried their banana pancakes and French toast, delish! I cannot remember the name of my drink, it was mocha something, so good! I got it both times. My partner had an omelet and loved their fresh squeezed orange juice. We sat outside both times, very cute and lovely. I will make sure to visit again when in Guadalajara.

Food Review: Los Chilaquiles - Guadalajara, Jalisco…read more On my recent visit to Los Chilaquiles, located right in the heart of Guadalajara, I arrived a bit past the traditional breakfast hour, but I was seriously craving some good huevos rancheros and a comforting café de olla. Thankfully, both absolutely hit the spot. Café de olla is a classic Mexican coffee traditionally brewed in a clay pot (olla), infused with cinnamon and sweetened with piloncillo--a deep, rich unrefined cane sugar. The result is a warm, aromatic, slightly spiced cup that feels like a hug from Mexico itself. Their version was delicious. To complement it, they offered me conchas con nata, which was such a treat. Conchas are iconic Mexican sweet breads known for their soft, airy interior and crunchy shell-like topping. Nata is the thick, silky cream that forms when fresh milk is gently simmered--rich, smooth, and perfect for spreading. Together, it's a simple but heavenly pairing. Right away, I noticed that the atmosphere of the place feels warm and inviting--relaxed, friendly, and full of that authentic Guadalajara charm that makes you want to stay a little longer. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly: attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. They started me off with a trio of homemade salsas, along with Mexican crema, queso cotija, and a crunchy homemade tostadita. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtful. As I looked around, I even noticed photos of well-known personalities who have visited, which makes sense--the food and experience truly stand out. Overall, Los Chilaquiles delivered amazing flavors, excellent service, a great atmosphere, and that authentic touch that makes breakfast in Guadalajara unforgettable. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

It has always delivered a great experience, but unfortunately, today was a disappointment. Our group of four ordered the following: * Panela asada: Excellent. * Empanadas: Excellent. * Churrasco: Very disappointing. The quality of the meat was poor, with too many nerves that made it hard to cut and chew. * Chinchulines: Excellent. * Milanesa: A letdown. The steak was paper-thin, overly dry (reminiscent of beef jerky), and the underside was burnt, making it even harder to cut. We had to request a steak knife to get through it. * Chicken: Excellent. * Desserts: Excellent. The total bill came to $2,900 MXN (about $145 USD) plus tip. By Mexican standards, this is considered a high-end meal, but the quality of certain dishes did not live up to the price. While the restaurant has been a favorite of mine in the past, based on this recent experience, I cannot recommend it.
