But at "Le Kalu" they did. And I have to thank the Afro-Caribbean's for that! I'm grateful for this find because it's rare to find a place where you sense that blood, sweats, tears and love! have been poured into it. I felt like I was inside the food truck, getting served by newly graduated cooks who were looking at me with eager eyes hoping I would love what they made for me. And it's a good feeling. It's a feeling that conveys, "you and your food are safe here". Now, I do feel like the presentation of the food took the food truck metaphor a bit too far. I prefer a bit more whimsical sight of my food, but that didn't make it any less delicious! Spicy, hot, fuego chicken wings: perfect during this fight against "The Disease No One Wants To Hear About Every Again". Not like I'm used to, but still good. And it's always a good idea to try out "not like I'm used to"-places!

You really spare yourself the flight ticket to the Caribbean by coming here. The home made drinks are authentic (a little rough to my taste in terms of the choice of rum). The food is delicious and rich in taste! A real good choice for something unusual in Brussels! Service is worth her praise as well - she ran the whole place alone well. The garden needs a good cleaning/upgrade. Not all tables are great (I guess by now it is evident from the above that we got lucky).

I wouldn't say the decor is particularly amazing because you can find truly breathtaking decor elsewhere in Brussels but the atmosphere is warm and hospitable and the food is excellent. If you want to impress someone with a good Caribbean, Reunion-type cuisine then take them there. Try the capitaine and be ready to eat a lot because the portions are generous!
