I started with the latter, which was delicious -- but the powerful flavour of cheese and the egg yolk drowned out the chard. My wife's potato flan was quite nice, but it arrived buried under a heap of truffle shavings that tasted of nothing in particular. My main was a special of roast suckling pig with potatoes and a savoury tuile made with the pork drippings. The tuile was gratuitous -- a chef-y touch that didn't actually taste very nice. The suckling pig was beautifully cooked but the potatoes were weirdly inconsistent; some crisp and others mushy. Il Fornacino is a good restaurant that would be the best restaurant around in most places, but the five-star bar is set pretty high in Tuscany. But the prices were very modest and the wine selection was great. It's a tremendously good value for what it offers.

Little was I to know, what a fantastic pizza this would be. The best pizza of my life (well, next to Da Michele's double buffalo mozz in Naples). I don't know if I got lucky, and all the pizza stars aligned when they threw this one together (the table next to me had multiple pizzas come around the same time, but none looked this great), but this scamorza cheese (a lot like mozzarella, but lightly smoked), eggplant, black olive and sublime sausage pizza was one of the most superb creations I've ever eaten. It puts most every other "dish" I've ever had on the back burner, because with most dishes, each bite tastes the same as the last, but with this pizza, every bite was different than the last, and each phenomenally delicious - - just spurring you on until you've enhaled the whole thing, and were supremely glad you did. Went pizza shopping tonight, from place to place (walk through restaurants, and see what they are serving, and what people are eating - - a real education), and finally settled on a very popular place where the pizzas looked OK (if not maybe a bit overly wide) and it was decent - - but it made me pine for the pizza from le Delizie. I mean, at le Delizie the topography was lovely - - no square inch of the 'za was like any other - - each bite had a different concentration of ingredients and a different texture. And even the edges around the crust were to die for, with wonderful light stretch and crunch, and still succulently moist, with a ravenously delicious red sauce (look how it glistens near the crust in the picture I'll attach). This pizza was absolute, total, perfection. Every bite of this pizza was luscious. It cost 7 Euro (plus 2 Euro coperto); the 1/2 liter of sparkling wine from a spigot was cheap, zingy, and refreshing. And after the meal there is a complementary carafe of limoncello, and the service was adept. I mean, for chrissakes, every "Italian" place in the States is nowhere in the same ballpark as a place like this. I'll keep pounding the pavement looking for something in Rimini even close to this standard [wait, no, I'm going back tomorrow - - I've learned my lesson.] .

For dessert we split a generous portion of tiramisu, which was creamy and rich. We had a couple bottles of Chianti. The ambiance is relaxing with a neighborhood vibes. They didn't have any tables outside so we were seated inside. Service (3.5/5): No WiFi unfortunately which isn't great for an international traveler like me. Standard European service. Not terribly friendly and not terribly efficient but I would say they were a bit more attentive than the norm. They did hook us up with some complimentary limoncello shots which was a really nice touch. Ambiance (3.5/5): A little quieter since it's off the beaten path which I like. A pleasant, homey restaurant. Drinks (4.5/5): We shared a bottle of wine. And the aforementioned limoncello shots. Food (4/5): We went with their pasta for two deal where each person gets three different types of pasta that you choose from six or so options. I love getting a variety of dishes so this was a nice way to do it. Not huge portions given the price but still delicious. The dishes were served to us quickly and we got to try some pastas we had never heard of. Overall: When in Bologna, Osteria Broccaindosso makes for a fine choice. It's a 15-minute walk or so from the center of town.

Back then, I ordered the Osso Buco, Lasagna, and Tiramisu--and I still remembered how incredible everything was. So, of course, when I returned nearly 10 years later, I had to order the same meals... and yes, I said meals! Fabrizio, the same server who took care of me in 2017, asked, "Are you sure you want two dinners?" I told him, "Yes! I want to try them both." Fast-forward to 2026: I walked back in two days ago, reminded Fabrizio of our conversation, and told him I was ordering both again. He immediately started laughing. Some things never change! My boyfriend ordered the pappardelle and instantly fell in love with it. We also shared a delicious cheese and meat platter and, of course, finished with Tiramisu. Nearly 10 years later, Pensavo Peggio still holds a special place in my heart. Highly recommend this cute little spot! It just goes to show that sometimes the best memories--and the best meals--are found when you venture off the beaten path. Some places are simply worth coming back to.

We took the time for a traditional, multi-course Italian lunch. The seafood pasta was exquisite, followed by grilled fish, and grilled calamari. Fresh, plentiful, impeccably prepared. Tiramisu was more like a pudding than a cake, but had some of the best flavor we've come across in the Med. Bypass those touristy places on the piazza, and slip around the corner to this place. Oh-so-good.
