Happy to say this place is still just as amazing as I remember it almost 10 years ago! A couple of girlfriends and I discovered Pensavo Peggio during our first trip to Italy in 2017, and it quickly became one of the reasons Florence became one of my favorite cities. Back then, I ordered the Osso Buco, Lasagna, and Tiramisu--and I still remembered how incredible everything was. So, of course, when I returned nearly 10 years later, I had to order the same meals... and yes, I said meals! Fabrizio, the same server who took care of me in 2017, asked, "Are you sure you want two dinners?" I told him, "Yes! I want to try them both." Fast-forward to 2026: I walked back in two days ago, reminded Fabrizio of our conversation, and told him I was ordering both again. He immediately started laughing. Some things never change! My boyfriend ordered the pappardelle and instantly fell in love with it. We also shared a delicious cheese and meat platter and, of course, finished with Tiramisu. Nearly 10 years later, Pensavo Peggio still holds a special place in my heart. Highly recommend this cute little spot! Saw the reviews on Yelp and wanted to try it since we were staying around the corner. Had the Cacio Pepe and Grandma's Lasagna. Lasagna was 10/10 which is why my wife kept eating mine and the Pepe was still very good. Eat here for phenomenal food and value. read more

I absolutely recommend this place. We stopped in after seeing other great reviews and there was no line when other places were slammed. We were seated immediately so my fiancé and I ordered a vodka pasta and a pappardelle with boar meat. We both agreed the pappardelle was fantastic with great flavor. We also got tiramisu which was also great. The service was great, it seems like a nice small spot where people come again and again as the owner remembered a couple that sat near us. When we paid at the front the owner gave us free shots of limoncello and was so friendly even though it was our first time. Stopped by to have dinner here ordered few options here for the first time snd everything was great! Inside seating was very nice and the service staff were amazing. The young lady who was our server was the absolute best. Gave is recommendations on food options and was really quick to everyone's aid. Amazing service and great food! We loved the decor and the friendly vibes. Our server was also the owner! He had amazing recs and our food was so good! Our 5 yr old devoured the lasagna ! My husband got the long noodle with bolognese sauce and wild boar.... It was outstanding. We also tried the caprese salad and a side of potatoes soute and both were excellent! The place is absolutely a gem, the service and food were amazing. Now the owner of the shop is the reason why we will be going at least 2 more times before we leave. This was probably one of my favorite restaurants while in Florence. It's definitely off the beaten path but well worth it. We started with the mixed salad and I loved the pesto dressing. It was so light and went well with the sun dried tomatoes and mozzarella. For my entree, I had the wild boar pasta. It was very good and it came with tons of boar (probably more than I needed). I also tried a bit of the balsamic steak, this was tasty but a bit on the sweet side. The house red wine was heavenly. Service was excellent and it was a real Italian experience for us. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The owner was SO nice, gave us free limoncello shots, and everything came out in a timely manner. They also had €5 glasses of wine. I ordered the lasagna, which was the best lasagna I've ever had. It wasn't your typical red sauce lasagna, but even creamier and tastier. My friend does not like tomatoes, and absolutely LOVED the bruschetta appetizer. We kept trying to find places in Florence that had similar bruschetta, but none were as good as this place. The portions here are just perfect, and I was stuffed after the meal. The restaurant is small, but was not overcrowded at all. However, the pesto was spectacular and the waitstaff kindly gave us some extra to help round out the meal. We spent our last night in Italy here and went all out. When we got there, there was a wait but I am SO glad we waited. You can tell that the owners really care about the restaurant and the people they serve. For food, we ordered several apps including a salad, bruschetta and the soup. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing. For drinks, we had a half liter of the house wine which was very good as well. For our dishes, we all got a pasta dish. My sister got the boar pasta which was so good and my husband and I got the lasagna which was different but very good. We also ordered the florentine beef/steak and it was incredible. Best dish of the night and highly recommend! I love that this place was not a tourist trap. It felt like a real, authentic, Italian dining experience. The restaurant is super cozy and comfortable. I found this wonderful recommendation on Yelp from some recent customers so we thought we would give it a try. The food was tasty, great portion size, and definitely left you wanting for more. The tomatoes on the bruschetta were flavorful and the crostini were done perfectly (not to hard, not to soft) Our main courses did NOT disappoint either. My husband LOVED his Ragú sauce and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The Crepe Florentine was delicioso!! Highly recommend both dishes. We just had the most incredible dinner @pensavo.peggio ...the menu is small and worn, you can tell how many times those pages have been turned. I had the best lasagna I've ever had. I tried to finish it but just couldn't. I was sad I couldn't take the leftovers home. My husband loved the steak florentine but was unable to finish it. If you ever find yourself in Florence, this place is a must. We made reservations at 4pm for dinner tonight and I'm so glad I did.
